  • Embiid, 76ers beat Pistons 116-102
    December 10, 2018
    By The Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) LeBron James scored 28 points and the Los Angeles Lakers survived Dwyane Wade's 15-point performance in the second half of the superstars' probable final on-court meeting for a 108-105 victory over the Miami Heat on Monday night.

The game appropriately ended with James guarding Wade, who missed a difficult 3-point attempt in the waning seconds. After the buzzer sounded, they shared a hug and a chat to close perhaps the final joint chapter of two careers that have intersected repeatedly since they entered the NBA together in 2003.

Wade intends to retire after this season, and Staples Center sent him out of Los Angeles in style with multiple standing ovations and a tribute video in the first quarter.

Kyle Kuzma scored 33 points for the Lakers, who have won 13 of 17 overall.

Justise Winslow scored a career-high 28 points for Miami.

    WARRIORS 116, TIMBERWOLVES 108

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Stephen Curry had 38 points, seven rebounds and six assists, and Golden State got the win in Draymond Green's return to the lineup.

Klay Thompson scored 26 points and Kevin Durant had 22 as Golden State prepared for Wednesday's showdown with Toronto by earning its fourth straight win. Curry went 7 for 14 from 3-point range.

Green, the 2017 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, had seven points, 10 rebounds and seven assists after being sidelined for 11 games with a right toe injury.

Karl Anthony-Towns had 31 points and 11 rebounds for Minnesota. Derrick Rose added 21 points.

    76ERS 116, PISTONS 102

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Joel Embiid scored 24 points in his return to Philadelphia's lineup after a one-game absence.

Jimmy Butler, who had 38 points to lead Philadelphia to a 117-111 victory in Detroit on Friday, exited in the first half with a strained groin and did not return.

Luke Kennard finished with a career-high 28 points for the slumping Pistons (13-12), who have dropped five straight after five consecutive wins.

Detroit was missing Blake Griffin, 10th in the NBA in scoring. Griffin was rested after the Pistons hosted New Orleans the previous night.

Embiid was given his own night off to rest on Friday after the 7-foot-2 star grew frustrated with his role following three straight sub-20-point performances.

Ben Simmons and Furkan Korkmaz each scored 18 points for the Sixers (19-9).

    THUNDER 122, JAZZ 113

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Paul George scored 31 points and Dennis Schroder added 23, helping Oklahoma City to the win.

Steven Adams had 22 points for Oklahoma City in the first meeting between the teams since the Jazz eliminated the Thunder in six games in the first round of last season's playoffs. Oklahoma City star Russell Westbrook was 4 for 18 from the field, but finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Donovan Mitchell battled foul trouble much of the game but led the Jazz with 19 points. Rudy Gobert recorded his 23rd double-double of the season with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

    CELTICS 113, PELICANS 100

BOSTON (AP) - Marcus Morris Sr. had a season-high 31 points, making three quick 3-pointers to start the second half, and Jayson Tatum scored 21 to lead a depleted Boston lineup to its sixth straight victory.

With Kyrie Irving, Al Horford, Gordon Hayward and Aaron Baynes all ill or injured, Jaylen Brown scored 19 points and first-round draft choice Robert Williams III had career highs of seven points and 11 rebounds in 25 minutes.

Anthony Davis scored 41 points for New Orleans, which was playing back-to-back games after beating the Pistons in Detroit on Sunday.

    PACERS 109, WIZARDS 101

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Myles Turner had 26 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks, and Indiana held on for its season-high fourth straight victory.

Bojan Bogdanovic scored 22 points for the Pacers, who nearly blew a 25-point lead. Darren Collison had 10 points and 17 assists.

Bradley Beal scored 30 points and Kelly Oubre Jr. had a season-high 23 for the Wizards, who played without injured All-Star guard John Wall.

    NUGGETS 105, GRIZZLIES 99

DENVER (AP) - Nikola Jokic had 27 points and 12 rebounds for Denver, and reserve Monte Morris tied a career high with 20 points.

Morris gave the Nuggets the lead for good on a 3-pointer with 5:22 remaining. Juancho Hernangomez followed with another 3-pointer to give Denver some separation in a tightly contested game that featured 15 lead changes.

Mason Plumlee added 12 points and 10 rebounds in his first start of the season for the Nuggets, who were missing Gary Harris, Paul Millsap and Will Barton due to injuries.

Despite a dislocated right pointer finger, Memphis guard Mike Conley had 19 points and six assists.

    CLIPPERS 123, SUNS 119, OT

PHOENIX (AP) - Tobias Harris scored 33 points and Patrick Beverley made two free throws with 33.3 seconds left in overtime, sending the Clippers to the road win.

Avery Bradley sealed the Clippers' 17th victory of the season with a pair of free throws with 1.6 seconds left. Danilo Gallinari scored 25 points for Los Angeles.

Deandre Ayton led Phoenix with 20 points and 12 rebounds in his 15th double-double of the season. Fellow rookie Mikal Bridges added a career-high 19 points, but the Suns lost their ninth straight.

    KINGS 108, BULLS 89

CHICAGO (AP) - De'Aaron Fox scored 23 of his 25 points in the second half, helping Sacramento rally for the win.

Fox went 8 for 11 from the field after missing each of his first five shots in the first half. Bogdan Bogdanovic and Marvin Bagley III added 16 points apiece as Sacramento closed out a 3-1 road trip.

Chicago led by as many as 14 in its ninth loss in 10 games. The Bulls were coming off a franchise-record 133-77 loss to the Boston Celtics on Saturday.

Zach LaVine led Chicago with 19 points, and Lauri Markkanen had 13.

    BUCKS 108, CAVALIERS 92

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Eric Bledsoe had 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Milwaukee made 15 3-pointers in the win.

Malcolm Brogdon scored 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting for the Bucks, who rested Giannis Antetokounmpo on the second night of back-to-back games. He was ruled out about an hour before the game with neck soreness.

Cleveland's Tristan Thompson had 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting and added six rebounds, but left in the third quarter with a left foot injury. Jaron Blossomgame had 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Larry Nance Jr. scored a team-high 16 points.

    MAVERICKS 101, MAGIC 76

DALLAS (AP) - Harrison Barnes scored 19 points, rookie Jalen Brunson added a career-high 17 and the Mavericks cruised to the win.

Brunson got the start at point guard in place of injured Dennis Smith Jr. (right wrist sprain). He has scored in double figures in each of the Mavs' last three games.

Luka Doncic had 11 rebounds and a season-high nine assists to offset a 2-for-11 shooting performance, finishing with seven points. Dwight Powell had 16 points for the Mavericks.

Jonathon Simmons had a season-high 18 for the Magic and Aaron Gordon scored 10. Orlando played without Evan Fournier, who missed the game for personal reasons.

      • Tuesday’s 6-pack

        Highest payrolls in the NBA:

        6) Portland Trailblazers $131,747,436

        5) Houston Rockets $134,843,975

        4) Toronto Raptors $141,265,305

        3) Golden State Warriors $145,699,527

        2) Oklahoma City Thunder $146,463,850

        1) Miami Heat $158,203,135

        Quote of the Day
“I think your play is embarrassing, me subbing them is saving them, maybe. Maybe we saved them. The pro player thing, this is basketball; this is about honoring the game and doing the right things.

Embarrassment is not giving the effort in that Bulls uniform, so I put five guys in that I thought could put the effort in. They’re disappointed, they feel bad about it. We need some leadership to step up, we need some guys to take leadership roles on the team.”
        Chicago Bulls’ coach Jim Boylen

        Tuesday’s quiz

Who was the Detroit Lions coach last time they won a playoff game?

        Monday’s quiz
Matt Prater (then with the Broncos) holds the record for the longest FG in NFL history (64 yards); he kicked it against the Tennessee Titans.

        Sunday’s quiz
Dwyane Wade played his college basketball at Marquette.

Tuesday’s List of 13: Nobody asked me, but…….

        13) Saturday night the Chicago Bulls lost by 56 points to Boston- they lost at home, 133-76, which is obviously not good and it came a couple games after a coaching change.

But this is worse; on Sunday, the Bulls refused to practice, because new coach Jim Boylen held a couple of two-hour practices earlier in the week. During the season with lot of games, NBA teams don’t have 2-hour practices very often.

Chicago is 6-21, last in the Eastern Conference; their team payroll is $103,926,708, which is 2nd-lowest in the NBA. Their team sucks, but guys get mad when the coach shows them up by subbing out five guys at a time- they revolt at practicing. How do you get better?

        I’m getting old…..lol

        12) Baseball’s winter meetings are this week in Las Vegas, good chance to think ahead to next spring and also to feel warmer. Thinking about baseball takes some of the chill out of the air.

        11) ESPN’s Sunday night baseball games will move an hour next year, starting at 7:00 instead of 8, which means there will be overlap with the 4:00 games on DirecTV, which is fine.

        10) Tampa Bay Rays went 44-34 LY when they used an “opener” to pitch the first inning of a game; they’ve said they will use that tactic again in 2019.

        9) Oakland Raiders fired GM Reggie McKenzie Monday; when you’re paying the coach $100M over ten years, you have to give him control of the franchise, so they told McKenzie to take a hike. Dallas/Chicago are two of the hottest teams in the NFL, thanks in large part to players they got from Oakland, which stockpiled draft picks as it prepares to move to Las Vegas in 2020.

        8) 32-year old backup QB Josh Johnson, on his sixth NFL team, led two TD drives Sunday against the Giants; he said he used the Madden NFL video game in order to learn some of the names on the Redskins’ roster- he played Sunday despite only being on the team for five days.

Johnson was picked in the AAF draft last week; not sure now if he’ll play in the new spring league, if he finished the season with Redskins, which he figures to do.

Mark Sanchez said last week that the first time he talked to LT Trent Williams was in the huddle on the field in the Redskins’ loss at Philadelphia LW. Hard to win that way.

        7) Tennessee 76, Gonzaga 73— Impressive win on a neutral floor for Rick Barnes’ Volunteers; they made 12-29 on the arc, with Schofield going 6-10.

        6) I wonder how Michael O’Keefe’s acting career would’ve turned out if he hadn’t played golf against Judge Smails in Caddyshack.

        5) Iowa State football coach Matt Campbell agreed to a contract extension through 2024 and has gotten $1M in additional salary for his assistant coaches, good news for Cyclone fans.

        4) Kansas State is expected to hire North Dakota State’s Chris Kleiman its football coaching job; he is expected to accept the job but he is also expected to coach North Dakota State as far as they go in I-AA Playoffs. Kleiman is 67-6 at NDSU and has won three national titles.

        3) Oakland A’s new AAA affiliate will be called the Las Vegas Aviators, a logo that I predict will take off in popularity.

        2) Harold Baines is in the Baseball Hall of Fame? I’m not buying that, but it guarantees that Edgar Martinez is getting in down the road, which is a good thing.

        1) I don’t get why the Heisman Trophy TV show is an hour long; a complete waste of 45 minutes. Introduce the four finalists and tell us who won; dragging it out to an hour must make money or they wouldn’t do it, but I never watch it- just let me know who won.

Best thing about the college football playoff is that it has taken a lot of the focus away from this individual award. I remember Joe Tessitore talking about the Heisman during a game on Labor Day weekend a few years ago, thats how ridiculous it had gotten.

Game of the Night: Raptors (-4 ½, 223 ½) at Clippers – 10:35 PM EST

The Clippers (17-9 SU, 15-11 ATS) snapped a two-game losing streak in Monday’s 123-119 overtime triumph at Phoenix, but failed to cash as 9 ½-point favorites. The Suns took an early 10-point lead before the Clippers outscored Phoenix in the second quarter, 37-27. Phoenix rebounded to take an 11-point advantage in the fourth, but Los Angeles rallied again to force overtime. The Clippers beat the Suns for the second time in two weeks behind Tobias Harris’ 33 points and rookie Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor.

Los Angeles has struggled to cover numbers of late by posting a 1-3 ATS mark in December, including poor offensive efforts in losses to Miami (98 points) and Memphis (86 points). The Clippers have been tremendous at home since losing the season opener at Staples Center to the Nuggets. Doc Rivers’ squad owns a 9-1 SU and 8-2 ATS mark in its last 10 home contests, although the nine-game winning streak at Staples was snapped by Miami on Saturday in a 121-98 setback as 9 ½-point favorites.

The Raptors (21-7 SU, 13-15 ATS) embark on a four-game west coast trip, which continues to Golden State (Wednesday), Portland (Friday), and Denver (Sunday). Toronto remains atop the Atlantic Division in spite of dropping back-to-back games to Brooklyn and Milwaukee. In Sunday’s home setback to the Bucks, the Raptors built an early lead but Milwaukee rallied back for a 104-99 triumph as 4 ½-point underdogs. Serge Ibaka led Toronto with 22 points, while Kawhi Leonard poured in 20 points, but Kyle Lowry was held scoreless in 33 minutes on 0-for-5 shooting from the floor (all three-point attempts).

Toronto has hit the UNDER in five consecutive games following a five-game OVER streak, as the Raptors have allowed 106 points or fewer in each of the past five contests. Nick Nurse’s club owns a 1-5 ATS mark in the last six games, including failing to cover on the road at Brooklyn and Cleveland.

Last season, the Clippers pulled off the two-game season sweep of the Raptors, including a 96-91 victory at Staples Center as a six-point underdog last December. Both matchups finished UNDER the total, while three of the last four meetings in Los Angeles have gone UNDER.

            Blazers at Rockets (-6 ½, 221) – 8:00 PM EST

This series was owned by Houston (11-14 SU, 9-16 ATS) last season, as the Rockets pulled off a four-game sweep of Portland. However, the Blazers (15-11 SU, 13-13 ATS) rebounded in the first matchup this season by routing the Rockets at Toyota Center, 104-85 as 4 ½-point underdogs on October 30. James Harden sat out due to injury for Houston, who shot 32% from the floor and converted only 10-of-43 attempts from three-point range.

The Rockets won eight of 10 games to start November following a dreadful 1-5 start, but Houston has been grounded once again. Mike D’Antoni’s team has dropped seven of the last nine games, including getting swept on a three-game road trip at Minnesota, Utah, and Dallas. The Rockets led the Mavericks by eight points with three minutes remaining on Saturday, but Dallas outscored Houston, 13-2 to pick up a 107-104 win.

The Blazers begin a quick two-game road trip that continues to Memphis on Wednesday. Portland bounced back from a three-game skid to knock off Phoenix and Minnesota at the Moda Center, capped off by an eight-point win over the Wolves on Saturday. However, the Blazers need to fix their road woes, as Terry Stotts’ squad has lost six of the last eight away from Portland since handling Houston in late October.

            Suns at Spurs (-12 ½, 218 ½) – 8:35 PM EST

San Antonio (13-14 SU, 13-13-1 ATS) is creeping back towards the .500 mark following a pair of double-digit home wins over the Lakers and Jazz. The Spurs improved to 9-4 at AT&T Center after cruising past Utah on Sunday, 110-97 to avenge a 34-point setback in Salt Lake City last Tuesday. DeMar DeRozan continues his solid debut season in San Antonio by scoring 26 points on Sunday, while Rudy Gay posted a double-double (23 points, 15 rebounds) to give the Spurs their third straight win in the role of a home underdog.

The Spurs own a 4-3 SU and 3-4 ATS mark as a home favorite this season, while laying their biggest number of the season tonight. San Antonio has split a pair of meetings with Phoenix as both matchups with decided by 20+ points. The Spurs ripped the Suns in Phoenix on Halloween night, 120-90, but the Suns picked up revenge in the next matchup in the Valley, 116-96 on November 14 as six-point underdogs.

Phoenix (4-23 SU, 9-18 ATS) is riding a nine-game skid following last night’s four-point overtime setback to the Clippers, but the Suns snapped an eight-game ATS slide by covering 9 ½ at home. The Suns have won only once away from Talking Stick Resort Arena in 13 tries with the lone victory coming at Milwaukee as 13 ½-point underdogs, 116-114 on November 23. Phoenix owns a 4-5 ATS ledger as a double-digit underdog, while going 0-3 SU and 1-2 ATS with no rest this season.

                Needing a win at home

The Rockets have only managed to win two of their most recent nine games, but return home where they have won five of their most recent six contests. In the head-to-head versus the Trail Blazers, Houston has won four of their last five games.

Expect James Harden to carry this team to victory as they get a much needed win with the Lakers and Grizzlies coming up next. Take the Rockets to cover as 6-point home favorites.

Taking advantage of the long ball

Last year in the first meeting between the Blazers and Rockets in Portland, James Harden had one of his best games of the year shooting 16 of 29 from the floor, including four of seven from beyond the arc, for 48 points. Attacking the rim paid off as he got to the free throw line 14 times that game.

Look for Harden to take advantage of a defense allowing opponents to shoot 37 percent from beyond the arc, and take Over his points, rebounds and assists total of 44.5.

                A shot at redemption

San Antonio is trying to make it three straight victories today against Phoenix, after some impressive offensive showings over their last few games.

The Suns have only managed to win one of their most recent nine games and have posted a 1-12 record away from home this season.

This game has a little bit of extra incentive for the Spurs who hope to avenge their 116-96 loss on November 14th to the Suns. The Spurs should be able to shut down an already low-scoring Suns team and cover the 12-point spread.

                Fading Suns

The Suns have been held under 100 points in four of their most recent six games, and play against a Spurs team eager to regain their defensive identity.

Phoenix enter today ranked 29th in the Association averaging 102.8 points per contest and have really struggled early in games on the road, averaging only 23.7 first quarter points per game and 50.5 for the half. Look for the sluggish start to continue as the Spurs stay locked in on defense and take Phoenix's team total Under 102.

Can Lowry break out of his dry spell?

Tonight's game between the Raptors and Clippers looks like the perfect opportunity for Kyle Lowry to get back on track. Toronto's point guard has been in a slump ever since sitting out a December 1st game against the Cavaliers. Lowry is in a favorable matchup versus a Clippers team allowing opposing point guards to post 23.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game.

It is imperative, even if shooting poorly, that Lowry continues finding the open man and adds to his league-leading assist average of 10 per game. Take Over his assist total today of 8.5.

LOS ANGELES (AP) Serge Ibaka had 25 points and nine rebounds, and the Toronto Raptors cruised past the Los Angeles Clippers 123-99 on Tuesday night without injured Kawhi Leonard.

Kyle Lowry added 21 points, making four of the Raptors' 14 3-pointers.

Leonard sat out with a bruised right hip that he hurt against Milwaukee last Sunday. He is day-to-day.

The Clippers endured their biggest loss of the season against the NBA's best team (22-7).

Fred VanVleet had a career-high 14 assists starting in place of Leonard.

With leading scorer Tobias Harris held to 10 points - about half his 21.4 average - the Clippers were led by a pair of reserves.

Boban Marjanovic had 18 points and Tyrone Wallace added 15. Their fourth loss in six games dropped them into a tie for second with the Lakers at 17-10 in the Pacific Division.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Bryn Forbes had a season-high 24 points and a career-best 11 rebounds to lead San Antonio.

San Antonio has won three straight halfway through a six-game homestand.

LaMarcus Aldridge added 18 points in 25 minutes. He sat out the fourth quarter with San Antonio leading by as many as 25 points.

Phoenix, which was without leading scorer Devin Booker for the fifth straight game, never led while falling to 4-24.

T.J. Warren led the Suns with 23 points and De'Anthony Melton added 17. Rookie DeAndre Ayton was the only other Phoenix player in double figures, scoring 12 points on 6-for-10 shooting.

DeMar DeRozan was held to a season-low five points, but the 6-foot-7 guard attempted just six shots as he set up his teammates.

                    ROCKETS 111, TRAIL BLAZERS 103

HOUSTON (AP) - James Harden had 29 points and seven Rockets scored in double-figures as Houston used a big second-half run and snapped a three-game losing streak.

Chris Paul added a triple double with 11 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Clint Capela added 13 points and seven rebounds before fouling out with five minutes left, and Eric Gordon, who started in place of James Ennis, had 14 points for the Rockets, who shot 49 percent from the field.

Houston's bench played a key role in a 24-6 first-half run that erased a 15-point deficit, and then led a charge in the second half. Gerald Green had 13 points, and Danuel House had 12 off the bench.

Damian Lillard had 34 points, CJ McCollum scored 22 points and Jusuf Nurkic added 15 points and 10 rebounds for Portland, which shot 44 percent after starting the game by making seven of its first nine shots.

                        Quote of the Day
“Sometimes it makes it worse when it’s right there. If you get blown out it doesn’t seem to hurt as bad as when you have a chance.’’
                        Ben Roethlisberger

                        Wednesday’s List of 13: Mid-week musings…….

                        13) Things you don’t see much; Dallas ran 93 plays Sunday, Philly only 48.

Cannot remember last time an NFL team ran 93 plays in a game. Cowboys had only done it once before EVER, running 94 plays in a 1978 win over Green Bay.

Does being on the field for 93 plays have a hangover effect this week, when the Eagles visit the Rams in Los Angeles?

                        12) Very few NFL games get butchered the way New England butchered their loss in Miami last week; Brady took a sack at the end of the first half when Patriots were out of timeouts and in the red zone, costing his team three points, a horrible mistake that was a lot like Russell Wilson’s INT at the end of the first half Monday night.

Then Miami scoring on a 69-yard desperation play to get the walk-off win; why is Gronkowski on the field for that play? Play started on the Miami 31; Tannehill ain’t throwing a Hail Mary pass 70+ yards. I’m guessing the Patriots’ flight home and defensive meetings Monday couldn’t have been very pleasant.

                        11) Minnesota Vikings fired OC John DeFilippo Tuesday, after the Vikings got whacked 21-7 by the Seahawks Monday night. Mike Zimmer has gone thru lot of QB’s/OC’s in his tenure as the Vikings’ coach.

                        10) Royals signed free agent OF Billy Hamilton, who runs really fast but as my dad often said, “He can’t steal first base.” When your on-base% is under .300, that not good.

                        9) More baseball dealings:
                        — Phillies gave Andrew McCutchen $16.7M a year for three years.
                        — Blue Jays released oft-injured SS Troy Tulowitzki, who is still owed $38M.
                        — White Sox acquired P Ivan Nova from Pittsburgh.

                        8) Steph Curry is going to host a PGA Tour event at Lake Merced Golf Club in Daly City, CA, starting in the 2019-20 season. The tournament doesn’t have a sponsor yet; the golf course is going to get $3.6M in upgrades before then.

                        7) Memphis Grizzlies equipment assistant Brianè Miller was offered $100,000 for the sneakers LeBron James gave her over the weekend, but she says she has no interest in selling them.

                        6) ESPN released 11 Sunday night telecasts for 2019; what a surprise- five Red Sox games, four Bronx games, three Dodger games, zero Astros games. And they wonder why the sport isn’t as popular as it used to be? Houston is the 4th-biggest city in the country and they are one of the best teams— put their young stars on TV!!!!

This doesn’t even need to be stated, but A’s/Rays aren’t on the list. Both won 90+ games LY.

                        5) MLB Network is great this week, watching stuff from Winter Meetings every day, but then they put this guy Charlie Montoyo on Tuesday at 6pm, and I had no idea he was Toronto’s new manager. He worked for Kevin Cash in Tampa for four years, so thats a good thing these days, working with another successful manager.

                        4) So its 4am Monday night/Tuesday morning and I’m winding down getting ready for bed, then I hear trucks outside, and they start jackhammering the road across street from me, digging this big hole. Seven feet deep, 25-30 feet long. It is freakin’ 4am!!!!

So much for sleep……or water. Must’ve been a leak in the pipes.

Water came back on 11 hours later, the road looks like it is a war zone, kind of killed the day, though not having water to take a shower forced me to get some sleep. Feel bad for guys who are outside at 4am in 15-degree weather fixing plumbing.

                        3) City of Oakland is suing the Raiders, making it evident that this will be the Raiders’ last year playing home games in Oakland- they’re moving to Las Vegas in 2020.

                        2) Football coaches are nomads: Ole Miss hired former Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre as its new defensive coordinator, which will make their defense a lot better. Ole Miss will have two new coordinators next year; their OC Phil Longo is off to the same job at North Carolina.

Former Bowling Green coach Mike Jinks is the new running backs coach at USC; no offense to the fine folks at Bowling Green, but thats a promotion- RB coach at USC is a better job than HC at Bowling Green- what a storied history of RB’s the Trojans have had.

                        1) Former Tennessee football coach Butch Jones was hired this week by Maryland as an assistant to new head coach Mike Locksley; both guys were assistants at Alabama this season.

Colin Kaepernick should go be an assistant coach at Alabama; maybe he could get a job in the NFL then. Every other Saban assistant gets a new job fairly quickly.
