Hard vote on all of these as 1 starter for each of those teams is what I would consider really good while the other ones I would consider good on some days, really good on some days, but really shitty on other days.

Verlander and Jackson have brought their big boy panties to every game they've started this year for the most part

I see Jackson imploding second half. JMO. But for right now, yes, you're right, Det over Atl.

The 3 that voted for Chicago, Tampa Bay, and Atlanta need to have their voting privileges taken away

From a numbers stand point I think it's hands down Detroit at this point. However I think the arguements for other teams make sense particularly the ones when you take the possibility of a Jackson meltdown. Without using numbers I really like Cards as I think they are both big game pitchers. I also like TB though and would be pretty torn between the 2 teams.

Going by strictly ERA of these two starters:

                    1. St. Louis
                    2. ATLANTA
                    3. Detroit
                    4. NYY
                    5. Boston
                    6. Tampa Bay
                    7. Chicago

Are they that good to only fall 10 games behind Philly?

Who the Braves? 6 behind Philly and two out of the WC. Their pitching is phenomenal, the rest of the team is a different story, but they have been playing GREAT lately.

Below is the team's record for the two mentioned starters and the teams record with other starters.

                            Detroit 24-17 Other 28-30
                            Boston 28-12 30-29
                            Cubs 21-15 31-31
                            Yanks 25-17 36-22
                            Cards 23-15 32-33
                            Rays 20-22 35-24
                            Braves 21-21 30-28

                            IMO it's clearly Red Sox

In some cases the mentioned starters isn't the 2nd best start on their respected team. Obviously, this only reflects this seasons results.

                              Giants Lincecum /Cain

                              28-13 26-33

The Giants do have the best duo based on team records.
