    • LEADING OFF: Cubs check Darvish, ace matchup in Philly
      June 25, 2018

A look at what's happening around baseball Tuesday:

      CHECK HIM

The Chicago Cubs might have further word on Yu Darvish after the Japanese ace said he felt soreness in his troubled triceps tendon following a minor league rehab start. Darvish hasn't pitched in the majors since May 20 because of right triceps tendinitis. He threw five sharp innings for Class A South Bend on Monday, and was set to rejoin the Cubs during their series at Dodger Stadium.

''In the triceps there's likeliness to get more fatigue there, especially if there's a long gap between innings,'' he said through a translator. ''That's when I feel fatigue there. Not necessarily pain, but I can't for sure say there is nothing going on in the tricep zone.''

      NIMMO NEEDED

The Mets take a seven-game skid into their game against Pittsburgh, but at least they may get their most productive hitter back. Brandon Nimmo has a sore right pinkie after getting hit by a pitch Sunday, but an MRI showed no broken bones and he is day to day. He didn't start Monday but entered as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning and stayed in the game to play left field. The Mets have also lost 14 of 15 at home and are 13-25 at Citi Field this season.

      ACES ALONG I-95

Aces Luis Severino and Jake Arrieta square off as the Yankees continue a series in Philadelphia. Severino (11-2, 2.24) has never faced the Phillies, and Arrieta (5-5, 3.42) is 3-1, 3.83 in seven career starts vs. New York. The Yankees won the series opener Monday in their first appearance at Citizens Bank Park since beating the Phillies in the 2009 World Series. The Yankees improved to 14-14 against the Phillies, leaving the Los Angeles Dodgers as the only team they have a losing record (6-7) against in the regular season.

      ON THE SKIDS

Carlos Martinez has lost three straight decisions entering a tough test against Corey Kluber and the Indians. Martinez (3-4, 3.24) hasn't won since May 2, and St. Louis has dropped his past five starts, a span in which he has a 7.06 ERA. Kluber (11-3, 2.10) pitched seven innings of one-hit ball in a 12-0 victory over the White Sox in his previous outing.

      COLLEGES

Oregon State and Arkansas begin the College World Series, a day after the opener in their best-of-three matchup was rained out in Omaha. Luke Heimlich (16-2) starts for Oregon State against the Razorbacks' Blaine Knight (13-0).

A two-time Pac-12 pitcher of the year, Heimlich was not picked in this month's Major League Baseball draft. He wasn't with the team at last year's College World Series after it was revealed he had pleaded guilty to molesting a young relative when he was 15. He served two years' probation and went through a treatment program, but later denied wrongdoing in interviews with Sports Illustrated and The New York Times.

          • Streaking: Freddy Peralta, Milwaukee Brewers (3-0, 2.30 ERA, $357)
They don't come much hotter than Peralta, who is a Top-30 pitcher in terms of money earned despite having made just three starts this season. Peralta has prevailed as an underdog in all three appearances, racking up an absurd 25 strikeouts over 15 2/3 innings. That includes 5 2/3 innings of one-hit, 13-K ball in Coors Field, of all places.

Look for Peralta to be a strong play in his Miller Park debut against an anemic Kansas City lineup. The line (Brewers -215) might be hard to stomach, but he's easily one of the best pitching options on the schedule.

Slumping: Jake Arrieta, Philadelphia Phillies (5-5, 3.42 ERA, $-309)
This is not the Jake Arrieta the Phillies thought they were getting when they signed the 32 year old to a three-year, $75 million deal back in March. Arrieta has scuffled mightily, surrendering 21 runs in 20 2/3 innings over his previous four starts, compiling just 14 strikeouts while surrendering five home runs over that stretch.

The Phillies +190 at home seems too good to be true, but with Luis Severino and the New York Yankees the opponent, that number still might not be good enough. This is a good spot to fade Arrieta and the Phillies.

            • 3 UP, 3 DOWN

              A Little Low

You don't like betting against Corey Kluber in any form when he's on the hill, but there might be a solid value play on the St. Louis Cardinals, who face Kluber and the Cleveland Indians at Busch Stadium. Kluber has been mostly dominant for the majority of the season, but has allowed seven or more hits twice in his last six starts and surrendered four in five innings on June 15.

That, combined with Cleveland still employing one of the worst bullpens in baseball, makes the Cardinals a solid option to go Over on their downright minuscule 6.5 hit total for the game (-115).

              Still Sizzling

The Oakland Athletics continue to put up piles of runs, earning a 5-4 victory over the host Detroit Tigers on Monday – the sixth time in the past nine games the A's have recorded five or more runs. They're averaging a ridiculous 1.79 home runs per game away from Oakland – far and away the best rate in baseball – and have gone deep in an MLB-record 26 consecutive road games.

Not only does that make the Athletics a terrific straight-up play at -115 against Tigers lefty Blaine Hardy, it also puts them in great position to go Over on their 4.5-run team total (-115).

              Fantastic Four

Opposing teams haven't done much of anything through the first four innings against Luis Severino, who enters Tuesday as one of the stingiest pitchers in baseball in the early frames. Teams are batting .132, .179, .182 and .224 vs. Severino in innings 1-4, with OBPs of .270, .233, .237 and .281 respectively. He has allowed just two home runs over 64 innings in that span.

Given his early-game dominance and Arrieta's recent struggles, taking the Yankees to lead after four innings (-135) is a highly recommended play Tuesday.

              • DOUBLE-PLAY PICKS

Washington Nationals at Tampa Bay Rays (+185, 7)

You might take one look at the line for this game and wonder what the heck the intro is talking about? Scherzer and the Nationals are strong -200 favorites to prevail at the Trop on Tuesday night, which hardly seems like value – until you consider just how well Scherzer has fared in games where he has been a great but not overwhelming fave.

Scherzer is having yet another Cy Young-caliber campaign so far, having gone 10-3 with a 2.09 ERA and a mind-boggling 161 strikeouts through 107 1/3 innings. And while he has seen more than his share of MLB moneyline odds in the -200s, he has actually been better with lower odds, having gone a perfect 6-0 in games where the line is -200 or lower, as it is Tuesday.

The Rays have already felt Scherzer's wrath this season, dropping a 4-2 decision behind 13 Scherzer Ks back on June 5. Home-field advantage isn't going to help much, given that Scherzer has allowed more than two runs in just one start in 2018. Don't expect that trend to end Tuesday, with Scherzer one of the more obvious plays of the night.

                Pick: Nationals runline -1.5 (-130)

                *************************

Toronto Blue Jays at Houston Astros (-260, 8)

Once again, Justin Verlander and the Astros found themselves as a huge fave. And once again, Houston wound up losing, dropping a 6-3 decision to the Toronto Blue Jays in Monday's series opener. J.A. Happ mostly stifled a Houston attack that feasts on lefties but Toronto is throwing another southpaw to the lions Tuesday, and the Astros should capitalize this time.

Ryan Borucki makes his major-league debut for the Blue Jays on Tuesday and against the defending World Series champs, no less. The 24 year old went 6-5 with a 3.27 ERA and 58 strikeouts over 77 innings for Triple-A Buffalo. That strikeout rate is a major concern, as is a rather generous 3.3 BB/9 rate.

Pitchers who struggle to find the strike zone and don't K a lot of hitters struggle against even the most pedestrian lineups. This Astros incarnation is far from pedestrian, boasting Top-3 numbers league-wide against lefties. Happ fended off the Houston bats on Monday, but there's a good chance Borucki won't be so fortunate.

                Pick: Astros -2.5 (+125)

                  • Who's Hot and Who's Not
                    June 25, 2018

                    Week of June 25th

The teams I touched on last week all found a way to keep their current streaks alive at least for another game or two, with one team, the CFL's Montreal Alouettes still looking to snap their streak.

The Yankees ended up having 14 straight 'unders' before cashing an 'over' ticket, the Houston Astros got to 12 straight wins before falling, and even the Kansas City Royals kept losing as they are now 2-17 SU in their last 19 overall.

Today though, I'm going to zoom the score out a bit and look at some season long total trends we can maybe take advantage of for the rest of the MLB season – or at least until the trade deadline with some rosters will look drastically different – as we could end up seeing some regression to the mean, especially with warmer weather coming.

                    Who's Hot

'Under' bets when this quartet is behind the dish: Sam Holbrook, Mike DiMuro, Dan Bellino, and Doug Eddings

I'll get to their individual numbers in a minute, but knowing who's the ump calling balls and strikes that night can have a profound impact on totals results. There aren't many totals posted below a flat '7' these days and all four of the umpires listed earlier are the only four in the league that see an average runs scored per game below that flat '7' mark.

Sure, there will be high scoring games here and there, but when these guys see 6.7 runs per game (Holbrook), 6.5 (DiMuro), 6.4 (Bellino), and 5.7 (Eddings), you'd better be prepared to get off your 'over' lean if that's the way you initially see one of these guys behind home that night.

Not surprisingly, run totals like that will bring plenty of 'under' love with them and it's Dan Bellino who's been the best 'under' umpire this year with a 1-11-2 O/U record this year. Eddings (3-12 O/U), DiMuro (3-9 O/U) and Holbrook (4-11 O/U) round out the totals for this quartet, and while we could easily (and should) see a few more 'overs' from these guys relatively soon, squeezing the strike zones on pitchers tends to be what these guys do.

Finally, if you want to take it a step further with three of these four guys, to find ideal 'under' spots when they come up, keep this in mind. For Dan Bellino and his best 'under' mark, just know that the only times he's seen a total get landed on or surpassed (1-1-2 O/U record) is when it's a battle of southpaws on the hills for both teams. Therefore if you got a righty starter, any righty starter in a Bellino game you can count on the 'under' connecting more often than not. He's 0-10 O/U in that role this year.

Eddings and Holbrook are basically the opposite as fans from each league might grown when those guys show up at their ballpark. Eddings has yet to see an 'over' cash if a team from the American League is on the field (0-4 O/U in AL vs AL and 0-3 O/U in Interleague), while it's the exact opposite for Holbrook who has an 0-6 O/U mark when a National League team is involved.

                    Who's Not

'Over' bets when this quartet of MLB teams is on the field: Baltimore, Kansas City, Chicago White Sox, and the NY Mets

With 'under' bets in MLB the theme this week, I'd be remiss to not touch on the results of the four teams mentioned above. Those four teams – along with the Miami Marlins – are the only teams in all of MLB that have yet to score 300 runs on the year entering action on Monday. And while Miami has somehow managed a 41-37 O/U record on the year since they seemingly know how to lose big, the likes of Baltimore, Kansas City, the White Sox, and Mets have all been great teams to go low on the total as well.

On the surface it makes perfect sense; teams that can't score won't play a tremendous amount of 'overs', but on the whole this year in MLB it's been the 'unders' that have been the way to go. There are only 12 of 30 squads that have cashed more 'over' tickets than 'unders' and the biggest margin between those results is seven - with the Oakland A's being 40-33 O/U. Compare that with the biggest margin of 'unders' being tied at 15 with Milwaukee (30-45 O/U) and Kansas City (29-44 O/U) and you can see that all these discussions about how many strikeouts there are in today's game really shows itself in terms of the vast majority of MLB games going 'under.'

Yet, where you want to narrow your focus is on these bad teams with sub-300 runs scored on the year. Kansas City was already touched on with their 29-44 O/U mark, but Baltimore (33-42 O/U), NY Mets (33-40 O/U) and the White Sox (33-39 O/U) have some of the bigger margins towards the low side of things as well in this league. With all four of these teams looking to trade away whatever valuable offensive assets they can in the coming weeks to build for the future in all likelihood, it's tough to think that any of these four squads will drastically turn these results around and become more of an 'over' team.

So don't be shy about digging into all the information you can regarding a specific total lean you may have on a given night. And if you can catch Doug Eddings behind the dish in a Baltimore, Kansas City, or Chicago White Sox game (he's already 0-2 O/U this year when one of those three teams is involved) you'd better expect very few runs to be scored.

The Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians combined to make it a perfect week for the state of Ohio. The Reds and Indians are a combined 14-0 across their past 14 games, as each club is on a seven-game winning streak. The run by the Reds is quite a bit more surprising, as they're cellar dwellers in the National League Central Division. The huge winning streak has helped them carve into what was once an ugly run differential. It's now at just minus-43. They'll hit the road for Atlanta on Monday looking to stay hot with Tyler Mahle on the mound. The Reds have won five straight with Mahle on the hill, and five of his past six outings away from home. They have also rattled off four straight wins vs. right-handed starting pitchers. The Braves will counter with Mike Foltynewicz, and they're just 6-15 across his past 21, and 0-4 in his past four against NL Central foes.

The Indians have opened up an eight-game gap in the American League Central, sweeping the Tigers out of Progressive Field. They're now 10-3 against the Tigers, and 25-13 overall in their division. The only chink in the armor for the Tribe has been on the road, where they're 16-20. That's where the Indians will be starting on Monday night in St. Louis. The Indians have rattled off 23 victories in their past 29 appearances on Monday, but they're just 17-41 in their past 58 interleague road games against a team with a winning record, 2-5 in their past seven interleague road games vs. RHP and 1-4 in Mike Clevinger's past five road assignments. They're also 0-5 in his past five against a winning team. Luckily for the Indians, the Cards are just 1-4 in their past five at home, 2-5 in their past seven interleague battles and 0-5 in John Gant's past five outings.

                      Tuesday, June 26

It will be a southpaw battle in Detroit between A's LHP Sean Manaea and Tigers LHP Blaine Hardy. Oakland has posted a 5-2 mark over their past seven on the road with Manaea on the hill. They're also 6-0 in Manaea's past six starts against American League Central foes, while going 36-15 in their past 51 against Central opponents overall. They're also 20-8 in the past 28 against teams with a losing overall record while going 4-1 in their past five vs. LHP. For the Tigers, they're on a five-game losing skid heading into Monday's game. They are also a dismal 11-24 in their past 35 against AL West teams, while posting a 13-27 record in the past 40 at home vs. a team with a winning record. However, they have won five of their past six tries vs. LHP, including 4-0 in their past four at home vs. southpaws.

The Twins and White Sox will battle on the south side after a scheduled day off. Minnesota has struggled with rest, going just 3-7 in their past 10 games after a day off. They're also just 4-9 in their past 13 on the road, while going 1-5 in Lance Lynn's past six starts when opening a new series. The Pale Hose counter with Reynaldo Lopez, and they're 1-5 in his past six starts while going 0-5 in his past five inside the division. Chicago has managed a poor 2-6 record in their past eight at home, while going 18-39 in their past 57 vs. RHP. Minnesota has owned this series recently, going 9-3 in the past 12 overall, while posting an 11-5 mark in their past 16 trips to Guaranteed Rate Field.

Colorado and San Francisco renew acquaintances in the Bay Area. The Rockies struggled against the Marlins over the weekend, now they try to get better on the road. They're 0-7 in Chad Bettis' past seven battles against NL West rivals, and they're 1-6 in the past seven against teams with a winning overall record. Colorado has managed a subpar 2-5 mark in the past seven on the road. San Francisco has won five of the past six overall, and they're 5-1 in the past six at home. The Giants are also 13-3 in their past 16 vs. RHP, while going 4-1 in Derek Holland's past five starts. The Giants are 7-2 in the past nine at home vs. the Rockies, although they're 0-4 the past four times seeing Bettis at AT&T Park.

                      Weather Report

The weather is expected to move in to the Motor City in the later innings, perhaps hindering the A's-Tigers battle at Comerica. There is a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms around 9pm, increasing to better than 50 percent through the overnight hours.

At Fenway Park, the Angels and Red Sox will be dealing with a jetstream to left-center field blowing at 11-14 mph. The same holds true for the Pirates-Mets game. There will be no precip, but winds gusting from 11-14 mph to the left-center field power alley. A hot wind will be blowing in from right field to home plate at 12-15 mph with temperatures hovering around the 100-degree mark. In San Francisco, the Rockies-Giants will also be experiencing gusty winds humming from 13-17 mph out to left-center field.

It wouldn't be summer if Atlanta wasn't on the weather worry list. The Reds and Braves have thunderstorm chances of 40 percent for most of the evening, so it will be hit or miss there. Mother Nature might be the only thing that can cool off the Reds these days.

                        • Severino earns 12th win as Yankees beat Phillis 6-0
                          June 27, 2018

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Luis Severino became the majors' first 12-game winner, Aaron Hicks and Didi Gregorius homered and the New York Yankees beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-0 Tuesday night.

Severino (12-2) struck out nine in seven dominant innings, lowering his ERA to 2.10. The ace has allowed three runs or less in 16 of 17 starts.

Jake Arrieta (5-6) had another rough outing for Philadelphia, which had won four consecutive series before losing two straight to the Yankees. Arrieta gave up six runs - three earned - and nine hits in five innings.

Arrieta was 0-4 with a 6.66 ERA in five starts in June after posting a 0.90 ERA in five starts last month.

                          RAYS 1, NATIONALS 0

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Nathan Eovaldi took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before an unusual combination of relievers in the ninth completed a three-hitter as the Rays beat Max Scherzer and the Nationals.

Eovaldi (2-3) lost his no-hit bid when Bryce Harper hit an opposite-field double off the left-field wall with two outs in the sixth.

Rays lefty Jose Alvarado began the ninth by walking Harper before moving to first base when Chaz Roe relieved him. Roe struck out Anthony Rendon before Alvarado returned to the mound and gave up singles to lefties Juan Soto and Daniel Murphy that loaded the bases.

Sergio Romo replaced Alvarado and got his sixth save.

Scherzer (10-4) gave up one run, four hits, three walks and struck out four in seven innings.

                          RED SOX 9, ANGELS 1

BOSTON (AP) - Mookie Betts homered on John Lamb's first pitch of the game, and J.D. Martinez hit his major league-leading 24th home run to back David Price's six strong innings.

Jackie Bradley Jr. had four RBIs and three hits, including a home run, and Christian Vazquez also homered to help Boston win for the fourth time in its last five games.

Price (9-5) allowed five hits, including a solo homer to Chris Young, and two walks while striking out seven to send Los Angeles to its fourth straight loss.

Lamb (0-1) got just five outs. He allowed five runs, three earned, on six hits and a pair of walks.

                          BREWERS 5, ROYALS 1

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Freddy Peralta pitched one-hit ball over seven scoreless innings, Jesus Aguilar hit one of Milwaukee's three homers and the Brewers beat the Royals.

Peralta (3-0) allowed a leadoff double in the third to Adalberto Mondesi and also allowed a walk in the second. The 22-year-old rookie was perfect otherwise, striking out 10 in his fourth major league start.

Aguilar, Christian Yelich and Ryan Braun homered off starter Jakob Junis (5-9), who has lost six straight.

Mondesi, called up June 17, hit his first homer this season with two outs in the eighth off Dan Jennings.

                          PADRES 3, RANGERS 2

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Wil Myers and Hunter Renfroe hit run-scoring doubles in San Diego's three-run eighth inning, helping the Padres rally for a win over the Rangers.

Shin-Soo Choo singled with two outs in the ninth to extend his major league-leading streak of reaching base to 39 games before Brad Hand got Nomar Mazara to fly out with two runners on for his 22nd save.

Four of six San Diego hitters reached against Jake Diekman (1-1). After Myers ended the Texas shutout, Christian Villanueva lifted a tying sacrifice fly to left before Renfroe's go-ahead liner.

San Diego relievers struck out five straight batters, starting with the second of two from Matt Strahm (2-2) in the seventh.

                          ATHLETICS 9, TIGERS 7

DETROIT (AP) - Jed Lowrie drove in the tiebreaking run in the top of the ninth inning for a second straight game, and the Athletics rallied from six runs down to hand the Tigers their seventh straight loss.

Detroit led 6-0 after three innings, but Oakland came back to tie it at 7-all in the seventh. Lowrie singled home Matt Joyce in the ninth for his fourth hit of the night.

Joyce doubled off Shane Greene (2-5) to lead off the ninth. Lowrie also came in to score an insurance run on a single by pinch-hitter Dustin Fowler.

Ryan Buchter (2-0) pitched a scoreless eighth for Oakland.

                          ASTROS 7, BLUE JAYS 0

HOUSTON (AP) - Charlie Morton struck out 13 in seven stellar innings, Jake Marisnick hit a three-run homer in the eighth after preserving the shutout with a big defensive play in the sixth.

Morton (10-1) scattered four hits and walked two for his third straight win to become Houston's first 10-game winner.

Evan Gattis put Houston up with a two-run single in the fifth. Marisnick padded the lead with his shot to left field with one out in the eighth. Alex Bregman, who tied a career-high with four hits, added a two-run homer.

Toronto's Ryan Borucki (0-1) had a solid start in his major league debut, allowing six hits and two runs while walking four in six innings.

                          MARINERS 3, ORIOLES 2

BALTIMORE (AP) - Kyle Seager homered and hit a pivotal two-run single in the eighth inning to back a fine pitching performance by James Paxton and help the Mariners beat the Orioles.

Paxton (7-2) struck out 10 over seven innings, allowing two runs and six hits.

Seattle trailed 2-1 before rallying against the weary Baltimore bullpen.

Dee Gordon led off the eighth with a double and Jean Segura got his third hit of the game on a bunt down the third-base line. Orioles reliever Darren O'Day (0-2) hurt himself trying to field the ball and was replaced by Tanner Scott, who walked Mitch Haniger before Seager hit a liner to center.

                          METS 4, PIRATES 3

NEW YORK (AP) - Wilmer Flores singled home the winning run in the 10th inning and the Mets stopped their seven-game losing streak, beating the Pirates hours after general manager Sandy Alderson stepped down because his cancer has returned.

Michael Conforto hit a tying homer and Flores had three RBIs for the Mets (32-45).

Both dugouts and bullpens emptied in the eighth after a clean slide by Josh Harrison prevented the Mets from turning an inning-ending double play. No punches were thrown.

Conforto drew a leadoff walk in the 10th from Steven Brault (5-2) and went to second when Todd Frazier singled. Cabrera popped up a bunt for the first out, but Flores hit a grounder just inside third base to knock in Conforto.

Tim Peterson (1-0) got three quick outs on five pitches - all strikes - for his first major league win.

                          REDS 5, BRAVES 3

ATLANTA (AP) - Matt Harvey pitched six-hit ball into the seventh inning, earning back-to-back wins for the first time this season and leading the Reds to a victory over the Braves.

                              Wednesday’s List of 13: Mid-week musings……

                              13) If you care about such things, the over/under for number of hot dogs Joey Chestnut eats at the Nathan’s contest in Brooklyn July 4 is 68.5 (over -$175).

                              12) Rays 1, Nationals 0— Sergio Romo struck out Michael Taylor for last out, then yelled at him from in front of the mound. Both benches emptied, nothing happened, but have some class.

Washington played on Sunday night at home, got to Tampa at 5am Monday, got shut out on Monday night, then played a noon game Tuesday, was shut out again. Not great scheduling.

                              11) LA Clippers are trading guard Austin Rivers to the Washington Wizards for center Marcin Gortat; LA coach Doc Rivers can’t be thrilled that his team traded his son.

LA trading for Gortat could foreshadow DeAndre Jordan being sent elsewhere.

Clippers have training camp in Hawai’i, by the way. Must be brutal.

                              10) Once the Raiders’ domed stadium is finished in 2020, there might be two bowl games instead of one in Las Vegas each December.

                              9) First three times Jose Altuve batted Tuesday, he walked on four pitches all three times, and none of them were intentional.

Yuli Gurriel batted behind Altuve; the first three times he batted, he saw four pitches total.

                              8) Fenway Park is only AL ballpark that Mike Trout hasn’t homered in.

                              7) It rained in Milwaukee last night, but the Royals-Brewers game was played, in front of 34,412 fans. Good thing they put a retractable roof on Miller Park, unlike Minnesota, which needed a roof maybe more than Milwaukee does.

                              6) Baseball injury doings:
                              — Cubs put 3B Kris Bryant (shoulder) on DL
                              — A’s put Daniel Mengden (foot) on DL.
                              — Rangers put 1B Ronald Guzman (concussion) on 7-day DL
                              — Braves P Anibal Sanchez left in the 5th inning with an injury.

                              5) Stewart Cink finished T2 at the Hartford Open last week; he is back in the world’s top 100 rankings for the first time since September 2011.

                              4) A dead body was found in a walk-in freezer at Suntrust Park in Atlanta where the Braves play. The dead person was a third party contractor found by another person who works for that company.

                              Yikes.

                              3) Matt Harvey pitched in Atlanta last night; first time he batted, Atlanta organist played “New York, New York” as his walk-up music. Harvey used to pitch for the Mets.

Organist played Eddie Murphy’s ‘Party All the Time’ before Harvey’s next at-bat. Mets traded Harvey because his, um…..off-field activities affected his on-field play.

                              2) For some reason, I keep getting ESPN the Magazine in the mail; don’t pay for it, don’t want it, there isn’t lot of good info in it, but they just keep sending it. Whatever.

                              1) Get well soon Sandy Alderson, who is on a leave of absence from the Mets because of health concerns. Hope he is 100% healthy soon.
