STREAKING AND SLUMPING STARTING PITCHERS
Streaking: Andrew Heaney, Los Angeles Angels (3-4, 3.12 ERA, -$407)
There aren’t many smoking arms taking the bump on Monday, so Andrew Heaney will have to do as our streaking hurler. The 27-year-old lefty is in his first season after Tommy John surgery and the early returns have been pretty positive. Heaney is coming off a complete game shutout against the Kansas City Royals in his last appearance and he has produced quality starts in six of his last seven outings.
Oddsmakers have the Halos as -120 road favorites against the Seattle Mariners with the total set at 8.
Slumping: Jordan Lyles, San Diego Padres (2-2, 4.70 ERA, $317)
This big righty gave up 11 hits – including two home runs – and eight earned runs in his last start. He has only two quality starts since becoming a part of the Padres’ rotation at the beginning of May. The Over is 4-0 in his last four trips to the mound.
MONDAY’S TOP TRENDS
*The Under is 6-0 in Boston’s last six games.
*The Rays are 1-9 in their last 10 games.
*The Blue Jays are 4-0 in their last four games.
*The Cubs are 8-2 in their last 10 games.
*The Under is 16-5 in the last 21 games between the Cubs and Brewers.
*The Under is 8-0-1 in the White Sox’s last nine games.
*The Padres are 16-45 in their last 61 games at St. Louis.
WEATHER WATCH
It’s a beautiful day for baseball across the country with blue skies and warm weather in the forecast. Lights winds are blowing toward home plate at Marlins Park and Camden Yards.
