        • LEADING OFF: 5 day games, Strasburg vs Carrasco
          July 27, 2016

A look at what's happening all around the majors today:

          LUNCH-HOUR HARDBALL

Four games are set to start at 1:35 p.m. EDT or earlier, including Nationals-Indians and Phillies-Marlins at 12:10, Padres-Blue Jays at 12:37 and Tigers-Red Sox at 1:35. The West Coast gets to play in the sun, too, with Rays-Dodgers starting at 3:10 p.m. EDT and Reds-Giants at 3:45.

          STRASBURG VS CARRASCO

Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg (13-1, 2.83) seeks a bounce back against Cleveland and right-hander Carlos Carrasco (7-3, 2.31) after suffering his first loss in his last start. Strasburg allowed six runs in six innings in a 6-3 defeat to the Dodgers after winning his previous three outings in dominant fashion. Carrasco threw six scoreless innings and only allowed one hit in an 11-4 victory over Kansas City in his last start.

          LONG, STRANGE TRIP

Following a circuitous jaunt to the Canadian border, new Toronto outfielder Melvin Upton Jr. is expected to get his first start for the Blue Jays against San Diego. Upton was traded by the Padres on Tuesday when they were already in Toronto, but joining his new team was much more complicated than walking across the field. Requiring a work visa to enter Canada as a member of the Blue Jays, he drove 1 1/2 hours to Lewiston, New York, and back to Toronto before Tuesday night's game. ''Sat at border patrol for a little while, jumped in the car and came back,'' Upton said. ''It all went pretty smoothly.'' Upton grounded into a fielder's choice as a pinch-hitter Tuesday. He was having a resurgent season with the Padres, batting .256 with 16 homers, 45 RBIs, 46 runs and 20 steals. He's hit three game-ending home runs.

          BIRDS OF PREY

St. Louis tries to extend its recent power surge against Logan Verrett (3-6) and the Mets at Citi Field. The Cardinals have homered in 17 consecutive games, their longest streak since a club-record run of 19 games in 2006. They lead the NL in long balls and have already surpassed last season's total of 137. The last time they topped the league was 1998, the Elias Sports Bureau said, when Mark McGwire hit 70 of their 223. Part-time infielder Jedd Gyorko has been a steady power source lately, with seven home runs in nine games.

          NEED SOME SUPPORT

Yu Darvish looks for a little help when Texas plays Oakland. Darvish is winless in two starts since coming off the disabled list, but the Rangers have scored only two runs combined for him in those games. The right-hander from Japan struck out 11 in six innings against Kansas City last Friday. He is 1-8 in 10 career starts against the A's. Rookie lefty Sean Manaea makes his fifth start for Oakland since coming off the DL, and in his last three, the A's have scored only one run in his 20 innings.

          ICHIRO UPDATE

Ichiro Suzuki made his first start in five games Tuesday and went 1 for 5, giving him 2,997 career hits. He also stole a base and scored a run. He had an extra-base hit taken away in his first at-bat when Peter Bourjos made an impressive catch in right-center.

          • Wednesday's Diamond Notes
            July 27, 2016

Hottest team: Yankees (8-2 last 10)

New York continues to make a push towards a potential Wild Card berth in the American League following a pair of impressive showings in Houston the last two nights. After a 2-1 victory over Dallas Keuchel on Monday, the Yankees knocked around Doug Fister in a 6-3 triumph last night behind a solid pitching performance from CC Sabathia. The Yankees have allowed three runs or less in nine of the past 10 contests, while locking up their third straight series victory on Tuesday. Masahiro Tanaka has lost his last two starts to the Astros, but the Yankees own a 7-0 record in his past seven outings since June 17.

Coldest team: Diamondbacks (3-7 last 10)

The Brewers broke open a 4-4 game with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday by scoring five runs in the eighth inning to capture a 9-4 victory. Arizona dropped 1-4 on its current road swing, while giving up at least six runs for the sixth straight game. In the past seven contests, not one Diamondbacks’ starting pitcher has made it out of the sixth inning, taxing an already depleted bullpen. Archie Bradley heads to the mound at Miller Park tonight for Arizona, as the right-hander has received a total of four runs of support in his past three outings with the D-backs going 1-2 in those contests.

Hottest pitcher: Danny Duffy, Royals (6-1, 3.14 ERA)

Kansas City may not make the World Series for the third straight season with the way it has been playing lately, allowing 19 runs in the first two losses of their series to the Angels. The Royals hope to turn around their luck with Duffy taking the hill as the southpaw is unbeaten in his last five starts. Duffy has put together four quality starts in this span, allowing two earned runs or less four times, including tossing 6.2 innings in a 3-1 victory over Texas last Friday. The Royals have yet to be swept at home this season, so Kansas City hopes to keep that streak with a victory tonight.

Coldest pitcher: Gerrit Cole, Pirates (5-6, 2.99 ERA)

In spite of a solid ERA, Cole hasn’t picked up a win since May 20 against the Rockies. Cole spent time on the disabled list with a tricep injury, but Pittsburgh has compiled an 0-5 record in his past five starts since beating Colorado, including a loss as a -240 home favorite against the Phillies his last time out. The Pirates own a 2-5 record in his seven starts at PNC Park this season, as Cole has failed to win in each of his two home interleague starts against the Tigers and Angels as Pittsburgh continues its series with Seattle tonight.

Biggest UNDER run: Orioles (14-0 last 14)

Baltimore saw its five-game winning streak come to a halt in Tuesday’s 6-3 defeat to Colorado, but the Orioles continued their remarkable ‘under’ streak, extending it to 14 in a row. Chris Tillman picked up a rare loss last night, allowing six earned runs in five innings of work, but the game remained ‘under’ the total of 9 ½. To be fair, Baltimore is cashing ‘unders’ recently on high totals with each of the last six games seeing totals of nine or higher. Orioles’ right-hander Dylan Bundy makes his third career start tonight, as he shut down a solid Cleveland lineup in his last outing by scattering five hits in five innings of a 5-1 win and going ‘under’ the total of 9 ½.

            Biggest OVER run:
            Reds (3-0 last three)

Even though three straight games isn’t a streak that looks impressive, Cincinnati’s offense has picked things up of late. The Reds fell to the Giants last night, 9-7, but Cincinnati managed to score at least six runs for the sixth consecutive contest considering the Reds put up at least six runs only three times in its previous 17 games before this stretch. Cincinnati owns a 9-4 mark to the ‘over’ in its last 13 road games, but keeping that streak alive won’t be easy this afternoon, facing Cy Young candidate Madison Bumgarner and the Giants. Although Bumgarner is winless in his last two starts, he has compiled a fantastic 1.45 ERA in matinee action this season.

Matchup to watch: White Sox vs. Cubs

The “Crosstown Cup” is always entertaining in the Windy City, but the White Sox are taking center-stage after grabbing a pair of home victories over the Cubs. The Sox walked off past the Cubs on Monday, then turned to the suddenly-hot James Shields on Tuesday for a 3-0 shutout of the NL Central leaders.

The series shifts to the North side tonight for the next two games as the Cubs rely on the right arm of Jason Hammel for a victory. Hammel has won two straight starts following six consecutive outings without a victory, as the Cubs own a 6-2 mark in his eight starts at Wrigley Field. The White Sox have slumped to a 1-5 record in their past six road games as Anthony Ranaudo takes the mound. Ranaudo is making his first start with the White Sox, while his last Major League start came last June as a member of the Rangers in a 1-0 defeat to the Dodgers.

            Betcha didn’t know:

It’s getaway day for the Red Sox, who travel to the West coast following this afternoon’s contest against the Tigers. Boston tries to avoid the sweep after dropping a 9-8 decision on Tuesday as the Red Sox have yet to be swept in a series this season. In fact, the Sox possess a perfect 5-0 record in the final game of a series when trying to avoid the broom.

Biggest public favorite: Giants (-230) vs. Reds

Biggest public underdog: Tigers (+110) at Red Sox

Biggest line move: Orioles (-145 to -165) vs. Rockies

            • Bullpen swap: Blue Jays send Storen to Mariners for Benoit
              July 27, 2016

TORONTO (AP) Looking to better their bullpen, the Toronto Blue Jays have acquired Joaquin Benoit from the Seattle Mariners for fellow right-hander Drew Storen and cash in a swap of struggling relievers.

The busy Blue Jays announced the trade Tuesday night, minutes after rallying to beat San Diego 7-6 in 12 innings. It was their second deal of the day: Hours earlier, Toronto obtained outfielder Melvin Upton Jr. and cash from the Padres for minor league right-hander Hansel Rodriguez.

Benoit, who turned 39 on Tuesday, is 1-1 with a 5.18 ERA in 26 games this season.

The 28-year-old Storen was designated for assignment Sunday by Toronto after going 1-3 with three saves and a 6.21 ERA in 38 appearances.

Toronto is two games behind first-place Baltimore in the AL East and holds the league's top wild-card spot.

              • Padres deal OF Upton to Blue Jays
                July 26, 2016

SAN DIEGO (AP) The San Diego Padres have traded left fielder Melvin Upton Jr. to the Toronto Blue Jays for minor league right-hander Hansel Rodriguez.

The trade, which continues the Padres' rebuilding, was announced Tuesday morning, hours before the Padres played at Toronto in the middle game of a three-game series.

Upton has had a big season for the Padres, who are mired in fourth place in the NL West. He is hitting .256 with 16 home runs, 45 RBIs, 46 runs scored and 20 stolen bases. He's hit three walk-off home runs.

The 19-year-old Rodriguez was 2-1 with a 3.06 ERA in six starts for the Rookie-Level Bluefield Blue Jays.

Padres general manager A.J. Preller said the deal had been in the works for a few weeks.

Upton has rejuvenated his career after struggling after signing a big contract with the Atlanta Braves.

''He's played well,'' Preller said. ''He's really played both sides of the ball. He has a chance to be a 30-30 guy. He's hit some big home runs in some big spots and has played tremendous defense for us in left field.''

The Padres reportedly will pay all but $5 million of the $22.5 million remaining on Upton's contract.

Upton and closer Craig Kimbrel were obtained in a trade with Atlanta on the eve of opening day 2015. Upton missed a good deal of last season with a foot injury. His brother, Justin, also was with the Padres last season.

Kimbrel was traded to Boston in the offseason for prospects and Justin Upton left as a free agent.

                • Ventura insists he can work with Sale after uniform flap
                  July 26, 2016

CHICAGO (AP) Robin Ventura insists he can work with Chris Sale despite the suspended ace's critical comments about the White Sox manager.

Sale is serving a five-day, unpaid ban after he destroyed throwback uniforms the team was supposed to wear for his start Saturday. Sale told MLB.com in a story published Monday that he doesn't regret standing up for what he believed and said Ventura should have stood up for his players.

Ventura shook off the comments before Tuesday night's 3-0 win over the Cubs and supported general manager Rick Hahn's decision to send the left-hander home after the incident.

''Everything that happened in (the clubhouse) I'm going to keep it in there. But we had to act,'' Ventura said. ''It was over the line.''

White Sox executive vice president Ken Williams expressed support for Ventura and Hahn before Tuesday night's game against the crosstown Cubs. Ventura, in his fifth year as manager, is in the final season of his contract and Chicago is fading from playoff contention after a 23-10 start.

''The one thing I can say is the way that Rick and Robin I think handled the situation, it was a difficult situation, certainly a unique situation, but one in which I think they handled in an excellent fashion,'' Williams said.

Sale called the 1976 V-neck, collared jerseys ''uncomfortable and unorthodox'' in the MLB.com interview. Sale said he first complained about the uniforms in spring training and then twice revisited the subject before Saturday's scheduled start against Detroit. Sale also criticized Williams during spring training for restricting clubhouse access for Adam LaRoche's son, Drake.

After seeing the collared jerseys hanging from players' lockers when he arrived Saturday, Sale became enraged. When the team didn't agree to change them out, Sale cut up enough jerseys that the White Sox had to switch uniforms.

''Robin is the one who has to fight for us in that department,'' Sale told MLB.com. ''If the players don't feel comfortable 100 percent about what we are doing to win the game, and we have an easy fix - it was as easy as hanging up another jersey and everyone was fine. For them to put business first over winning, that's when I lost it.''

Sale, 14-3 with a 3.18 ERA, never wore the replacement 1983 throwback jersey. He was scratched from his start, sent home and the next day suspended for what Hahn described as ''insubordination and for destroying team equipment.''

''There are a lot of people that work hard on that stuff that are on the other side of the hall,'' Ventura said. ''That's their job, to either create a different uniform, create a promotional night to help get people in the stands and make money.''

The volatile Sale and Ventura engaged in a heated argument during the 2014 season. In spring training this year, Sale accused Williams of lying to players after Williams banned LaRoche's son from the clubhouse. LaRoche later retired, and Sale hung the jerseys of LaRoche and his son in his locker.

Sale's future in Chicago is uncertain. The White Sox were 50-50 after Tuesday's win and third in the AL Central. They're expected to field inquiries for Sale before the Aug. 1 deadline. Sale has a club-friendly contract that runs through 2019, counting two years of team options.

Despite all of that, Ventura said he can ''absolutely'' still work effectively with Sale. The left-hander worked out on his own at U.S. Cellular Field early Tuesday and is scheduled to start Thursday against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

''I'm more interested in everyone moving on,'' Williams said when asked about Sale's behavior. ''Any further comment beyond what I just said is counterproductive to all of that. At one point in my career, you probably could've gotten me to comment in a very different way. I'm sure it would be more entertaining for all, except me.''

CHICAGO (AP) Javier Baez hit a tiebreaking two-run homer deep into Wrigley's Field's left bleachers in the seventh, Addison Russell added a grand slam in a five-run eighth and the Chicago Cubs beat the White Sox 8-1 on Wednesday night.

Jason Hammel (10-5) allowed one run and five hits while striking out seven in seven innings. Hector Rondon pitched a perfect eighth, and Aroldis Chapman worked a 1-2-3 ninth - striking out Jose Abreu and Avisail Garcia - in his Cubs debut.

Baez went deep on a full-count pitch against Anthony Ranaudo (1-1) to chase the right-hander in his White Sox debut. Ranaudo didn't allow a hit until Kris Bryant's solo homer with one out in the sixth tie the score 1-1. Bryant's 26th homer matched his total last season when he was NL Rookie of the Year.

After Ben Zobrist's RBI double in the eighth, Russell followed two hitters later with his 12th homer to help the Cubs end a two-game slide and snap the White Sox's four-game winning streak.

Ranaudo allowed three runs and two hits - both homers - in 6 2/3 innings and smacked an opposite-field homer in the fifth for his first major league hit.

Chapman had 20 saves in 21 chances this season with the Yankees before the Cubs acquired the hard-throwing lefty on Monday for a package of prospects.

                            REDS 2, GIANTS 1

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Jay Bruce homered in his career-high fifth straight game, connecting off Madison Bumgarner in Cincinnati's victory over slumping San Francisco.

Bruce broke a 1-1 tie in the seventh inning with his sixth homer during his five-game streak and 25th of the season.

The NL West-leading Giants got just four hits and lost for the ninth time in 11 games since the All-Star break. The last-place Reds are 8-4 over that stretch.

Dan Straily (6-6) gave up three hits in 7 2/3 innings, and Tony Cingrani pitched a scoreless ninth for his 12th save.

Bumgarner (10-6) allowed one earned run and five hits in eight innings, striking out nine. The Giants have lost six of his last eight starts.

Conor Gillaspie hit a solo homer for the Giants in the second. San Francisco left fielder Angel Pagan dropped a flyball in the fifth, setting up Tucker Barnhart's tying sacrifice fly.

                            NATIONALS 4, INDIANS 1

CLEVELAND (AP) - Stephen Strasburg shut down Cleveland for seven innings and bounced back from his only loss this season, leading Washington past the Indians.

Strasburg (14-1) began the season with 13 straight wins before he was beaten by the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 21. The powerful right-hander shook off that blemish, holding the Indians to three hits. Strasburg walked one and struck out seven.

Washington rookie Trea Turner drove in three runs and Daniel Murphy hit his 20th homer off Carlos Carrasco (7-4). Murphy extended his hitting streak to 13 games with the towering shot.

Nationals reliever Blake Treinen stopped Cleveland's threat in the ninth, getting a game-ending double play for his first major league save.

                            CARDINALS 5, METS 4

NEW YORK (AP) - Yadier Molina and pinch-hitter Kolten Wong each had an RBI double in the ninth inning, and St. Louis rallied past New York to end Jeurys Familia's saves streak at 52 games.

Yoenis Cespedes hit a go-ahead homer off Adam Wainwright to cap a three-run comeback in the seventh that gave the Mets a 4-3 lead. But then Familia, who hadn't blown a regular-season save opportunity since July 30 last year, finally faltered.

Jedd Gyorko drew a one-out walk in the ninth and was replaced by pinch-runner Randal Grichuk. Molina hit the next pitch to deep center field, and Grichuk scored to tie it.

Molina was thrown out at third by Familia (2-2) on pinch-hitter Jeremy Hazelbaker's comebacker, but Hazelbaker stole second and scored when Wong lined a double just inside the left-field line.

Familia's franchise-record saves streak was the third-longest in major league history behind Tom Gordon (54) and Eric Gagne (84). Jonathan Broxton (3-2) threw a scoreless eighth, and Seung Hwan Oh worked the ninth for his sixth save.

                            RAYS 3, DODGERS 1

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Matt Moore pitched four-hit ball into the seventh inning, Evan Longoria hit a two-run homer and the Tampa Bay Rays won at Dodger Stadium for the first time.

Luke Maile had an RBI double in a three-run fourth inning to help Tampa Bay wrap up a nine-game West Coast road swing by snapping a four-game skid. The Rays were swept in a three-game series at Chavez Ravine in 2013, the only other time they've visited the Dodgers' hallowed home turf.

Moore (7-7) struck out five and allowed an unearned run. Alex Colome pitched a perfect ninth for his 22nd save in 23 chances. Brandon McCarthy (2-1) lasted just four innings for the Dodgers in his first loss since Sept. 23, 2014.

                            TIGERS 4, RED SOX 3

BOSTON (AP) - Miguel Cabrera hit a tiebreaking home run in the ninth inning that bounced off the top of the wall and into Boston's bullpen, lifting Detroit past the Red Sox for a three-game sweep.

James McCann also hit a solo homer, and Victor Martinez had four singles, a walk and drove in two runs for Detroit. The Tigers have won five of seven.

Boston is the last major league team to be swept in a series of any length this season.

Xander Bogaerts and Dustin Pedroia had solo homers for the Red Sox. They lost for the fifth time in six games to complete a nine-game homestand at 4-5.

                            ATHLETICS 6, RANGERS 4

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Khris Davis homered twice, Coco Crisp also went deep and Oakland beat AL West-leading Texas.

Oakland has won four consecutive series for the first time since May 2014. The A's are 9-4 since the All-Star break.

Crisp's two-run homer in the eighth, on a 99 mph fastball from Matt Bush (3-2), put the A's up 4-3. Davis added another two-run shot, his 25th homer of the season, in the inning.

                            MARLINS 11, PHILLIES 1

MIAMI (AP) - Giancarlo Stanton hit a two-run homer in the first inning to lead a 16-hit attack in Miami's victory over Philadelphia.

Stanton hit his 22nd homer in support of Adam Conley (7-5), who pitched around eight hits and three walks to throw 6 2/3 scoreless innings.

Don Kelly, who began the game 1 for 22 this season, went 3 for 5 with two triples, two RBIs and two runs scored. That raised his average from .045 to .148.

The Marlins' Ichiro Suzuki did not play and remained at 2,997 hits.

Philadelphia rookie Zach Eflin (3-4) was the loser.

                            PADRES 8, BLUE JAYS 4

TORONTO (AP) - Adam Rosales hit a two-run home run, Alex Dickerson and Brett Wallace each hit solo shots and San Diego beat Toronto to avoid a three-game sweep.

San Diego extended its club-record streak with at least one home run to 25 games. It's the longest run since 2002 Texas set the major league record by homering in 27 straight.

Luis Perdomo (5-4) allowed four runs and six hits in 5 2/3 innings.

R.A. Dickey (7-12) was the loser. He has surrendered 26 home runs this season, tying Kansas City's Ian Kennedy and Chris Young for most in the majors.

Melvin Upton Jr. made his first start for Toronto after being acquired from San Diego on Tuesday. He went 1 for 4 with a single.

                            PIRATES 10, MARINERS 1

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Gerrit Cole threw a three-hitter for his first career complete game and slumping Andrew McCutchen had a three-run home run and two other hits in Pittsburgh's victory over Seattle.

Making the 88th start of his four-year career, Cole (6-6) struck six and walked one while winning for the first time since May 20. McCutchen and Jung Ho Kang each had four RBIs to help the Pirates win for the sixth time in nine games.

James Paxton (3-5) was the loser.

                            ASTROS 4, YANKEES 1

HOUSTON (AP) - Lance McCullers struck out 10 in six innings, Colby Rasmus broke out of a slump with a two-run homer and Houston beat New York.

Rasmus snapped an 0-for-29 skid when he sent an off-speed pitch from Masahiro Tanaka (7-3) into the seats behind the bullpen in right-center field to make it 4-0 with in the third.

McCullers (6-4) allowed five hits and one run and tied a season high by fanning 10 for the second straight game. Ken Giles and Luke Gregerson pitched a scoreless inning each before Will Harris got his 11th save by striking out two in the ninth.

                            DIAMONDBACKS 8, BREWERS 1

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Yasmany Tomas hit two home runs, Archie Bradley pitched seven innings and Arizona took advantage of Milwaukee's season-high five errors.

Tomas had his fifth multihomer game of the season. He hit a three-shot off in the first and sliced an 0-2 pitch for a two-run homer in the fifth, both off of Jimmy Nelson (6-9).

Bradley (4-6) allowed one run on four hits, walked three and struck out six.

Brewers right fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis had three errors, and shortstop Jonathan two.

                            ROYALS 7, ANGELS 5

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Raul Mondesi had a bunt single for his first big league hit, with two runs scoring on the play on pitcher Matt Shoemaker's throwing error, and Kansas City beat Los Angeles.

Shoemaker, who did not allow a base runner until the fifth inning, yielded singles to Alex Gordon and Paulo Orlando to start the seventh. Mondesi put down a bunt and beat the throw to first as the throw by Shoemaker (5-11) sailed into right field.

Both runners scored and Mondesi wound up on third. Angels manager Mike Scioscia came out claiming interference, and after a review the call on the field stoood. Scioscia officially protested the game.

Joakim Soria (4-4) pitched a scoreless inning for the victory.

                            BRAVES 9, TWINS 7

The Twins closed to 8-7 in the sixth on an RBI grounder by Joe Mauer. Nick Markakis singled home a run in the Atlanta eighth.

Armadillo: Thursday's List of 13: Doing some thinking out loud

                              13) I hope you like the new layout; yesterday was a confusing day, but now things are back to normal so I hope this is easier to read.

Huge tip of the cap to my friend Lori who did all the real work in re-doing the site and had to answer a lot of dumb questions (from me).

                              12) Miami Marlins get Dee Gordon back from his 80-game PED suspension today, which should help the Marlins’ offense, but if Miami makes the playoffs, Gordon is ineligible for them.

                              11) Milwaukee Brewers had five errors last night before the second inning was over; I’ve never seen defense that dismal, at least not in pro ball.

                              10) Jay Bruce has homered five games in a row, including one off Madison Bumgarner, so if he wants to be traded, he is putting on a pretty good audition for his new team.

                              9) Eddie DeBartolo is getting in the Hall of Fame, and Kurt Warner isn’t? Oy.

                              8) Trade deadline is Monday; A’s need Rich Hill’s blister to heal before then, so he can pitch in a game and increase his trade value.

                              7) White Sox rookie SS Tim Anderson has come to the plate 178 times this year and walked twice. Twice.

He saw nine pitches in four plate appearances last night. No bueno.

                              6) Jets signed QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to a one-year, $12M contract, meaning they get to go thru this all over again next year.

                              5) Rams released QB Nick Foles, who started 11 games for them LY. Three years ago, when he had DeSean Jackson as a target, Foles threw 27 TD passes, with two INTs. he can still play.

                              4) Patriots need to sign a veteran backup QB (Foles??) for the first four games, when Tom Brady will be suspended.

Question: Can Brady go to meetings, or stand on the sidelines during games while he is out? He would be a big help on the head phones with Jimmy Garoppolo during games.

                              3) Texas is desperate for starting pitching; they traded for Lucas Harrell last night. Toronto/Seattle swapped relievers who were both having lousy seasons– a my problem for your problem kind of trade.

                              2) There was rodeo on TV in the sportsbook last night; you have to be one crazy human to do that. Would be easier to be a crash test dummy.

1– Long, drawn out argument on Angels-Royals game last night, about whether the runner was inside the running box when a throw from the third base side hit him. They went to replay, both managers were on the field, it reinforced why replay is better, since it eliminates (mostly) stuff like this, when managers just go on and on until they get some satisfaction.

Umps got it right; runner had touched first by time ball hit him, so it didn’t matter where he was running, but the ball did go down the line and allow two runs to score, which is why Mike Scioscia was challenging the umpire’s call.
