    • Markstrom, Canucks beat Caps In SO
      November 23, 2019
      By The Associated Press

DENVER (AP) Tyson Barrie had a goal and an assist in his return to Colorado, leading the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 5-3 victory over the Avalanche on Saturday night.

Auston Matthews also had a goal and an assist as Toronto earned its second straight win since Sheldon Keefe took over after Mike Babcock was fired Wednesday. Keefe coached the Maple Leafs to a 3-1 win at Arizona on Thursday night.

Nicholas Shore, Zach Hyman and Kasperi Kapanen also scored for Toronto, and Frederik Andersen had 34 saves.

Barrie, who was traded to the Maple Leafs in July, got a warm reception from fans during a timeout in the first period.

Nazem Kadri, who was sent to Colorado in the deal, had two assists against his former team.

      HURRICANES 4, PANTHERS 2

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Dougie Hamilton and Brett Pesce scored to help the Hurricanes to the victory.

Hamilton also assisted on Martin Necas' goal. Andrei Svechnikov added an empty-netter and Petr Mrazek stopped 21 shots for the Hurricanes (14-8-1), who won for the fifth time in six games.

Aaron Ekblad and Brian Boyle scored for Florida (12-6-5), which had won three straight.

Carolina, which entered leading the NHL with 18 goals by defensemen, got two more as Pesce delivered the Hurricanes' first score of the game and Hamilton broke a 2-all tie off a feed from Teuvo Teravainen with 2:15 remaining in the second period.

      LIGHTNING 6, DUCKS 2

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Tampa Bay's Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 36 shots and set a franchise record with his 132nd victory.

Brayden Point had two goals, and Nikita Kucherov, Pat Maroon, Anthony Cirelli and Ondrej Palat also scored for the Lightning, who have won five of their last seven games. Vasilevskiy moved past former teammate Ben Bishop atop the team's win list.

Derek Grant had a short-handed goal for Anaheim, and Rickard Rakell also scored. Ryan Miller finished with 21 saves as the Ducks lost for the eighth time in nine games (1-5-3).

      CANUCKS 2, CAPITALS 1, SO

WASHINGTON (AP) - Jacob Markstrom stopped 32 shots and then denied seven more during an extended shootout, helping the Canucks to the road win.

Elias Pettersson scored his 10th goal for Vancouver, which earned its second straight win since a stretch of seven losses in eight games. It was the Canucks' 12th power-play goal in their last seven games.

Bo Horvat scored the decisive goal in the seventh round of the shootout.

Washington managed just one goal for the third time this season despite Vancouver losing defenseman Alexander Edler to an upper-body injury.

Jakub Vrana scored his 11th goal for the Capitals, and Braden Holtby made 32 saves.

      COYOTES 3, KINGS 2

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Arizona's Lawson Crouse scored the go-ahead goal before a scary fall that forced him to leave the game.

Phil Kessel and Christian Fischer also scored for the Coyotes, who have won five of seven, including a 3-0 home victory over the Kings on Monday. Antti Raanta made 43 saves.

Anze Kopitar and Nikolai Prokhorkin scored for the Kings. Jonathan Quick stopped 16 shots.

Crouse's goal off a rebound in the second period put Arizona ahead 2-1. He left in the third period after he fell and hit his head awkwardly into the boards. After being checked by a trainer, he was helped off the ice, and he walked to the locker room.

      RANGERS 6, CANADIENS 5

MONTREAL (AP) - Jacob Trouba scored the go-ahead goal in the third period, and the Rangers overcame a four-goal deficit to get the victory.

Trouba's shot from the point went off Jeff Petry and in with 7:50 left.

Brendan Lemieux had two goals for the Rangers (10-9-2), who trailed 4-0 early in the second period. Filip Chytil, Pavel Buchnevich and Artemi Panarin also scored.

Backup goalie Alexandar Georgiev stopped 38 shots in the second game in two nights for New York following a 4-1 loss in Ottawa on Friday.

Max Domi and Artturi Lehkonen each scored twice for the Canadiens (11-7-5), who have lost a season-high four straight games. Shea Weber also scored, and Carey Price had 28 saves.

      BRUINS 5, WILD 4

BOSTON (AP) - Torey Krug scored 2:41 into overtime after Boston's David Krejci had two goals in the final two minutes of regulation.

Jake DeBrusk and Brad Marchand also scored to help Boston pick up at least a point for the seventh straight game (4-0-3). Tuukka Rask finished with 32 saves.

Victor Rask, Eric Staal, Kevin Fiala and Jason Zucker scored for the Wild, who were on the verge of sending Boston to its first regulation loss at home this season but fell to 3-0-2 in their last five games. Alex Stalock had 34 saves.

The Bruins remained the only NHL team yet to lose in regulation at home (9-0-4).

Krug cut between a pair of Minnesota players and slipped a shot between Stalock's pads for the game-winner.

      JETS 4, BLUE JACKETS 3

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) - Andrew Copp scored with 1:54 left to lift Winnipeg to the win.

Columbus goalie Elvis Merzlikins tried to clear the puck up the middle of the ice but Copp knocked it down and scored. He also had an assist for the Jets, who are 4-1-0 in their past five games.

Nikolaj Ehlers scored his team-leading 11th goal for Winnipeg. Blake Wheeler had a goal and an assist, and Mathieu Perreault also scored.

Pierre-Luc Dubois, Seth Jones and Gustav Nyquist each scored a power-play goal for Columbus, which had won three in a row.

      FLAMES 3, FLYERS 2, SO

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Matthew Tkachuk scored the only goal in the shootout, and the Flames stopped a six-game slide.

Calgary's Elias Lindholm tied it at 2 with 1:23 left in regulation. Andrew Mangiapane also scored for the Flames, who were shut out in their previous three road games as part of their skid.

Kevin Hayes and Jakub Voracek scored for Philadelphia, which lost for the fifth time in six games.

David Rittich made 27 saves and stopped all three Flyers attempts in the tiebreaker. Tkachuk, Calgary's second shooter, scored on a backhander that went through Carter Hart's legs.

      STARS 2, BLACKHAWKS 1, SO

DALLAS (AP) - Joe Pavelski and Tyler Seguin scored in a shootout to lift Dallas to its sixth consecutive victory.

The Stars are 10-0-1 during an 11-game point streak.

Dallas goalie Anton Khudobin stopped Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane in the tiebreaker. Khudobin equaled his season high with 38 saves, including one on a breakaway by Patrick Kane in overtime.

Roope Hintz scored for Dallas and Olli Maatta for the Blackhawks in the first period.

Chicago had two possible goals disallowed in the third.

      PREDATORS 4, BLUES 2

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Filip Forsberg scored 20 seconds into the game and Juuse Saros made 24 saves to help Nashville snap a six-game losing streak.

Mattias Ekholm, Colton Sissons and Calle Jarnkrok also scored as the Predators won in St. Louis for the first time since December 2017. Saros improved to 2-5-1 this season as he earned his first win since Oct. 26 at Tampa Bay.

Klim Kostin and Alex Pietrangelo had the goals for the Blues. Jordan Binnington made 39 saves two nights after stopping 40 shots in a 5-0 victory over Calgary.

      DEVILS 5, RED WINGS 1

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Will Butcher scored the go-ahead goal in the third period, and New Jersey handed Detroit its fifth straight loss.

Blake Coleman scored two goals for the Devils, who had dropped two in a row. Kyle Palmieri and Taylor Hall also scored, and Louis Domingue made 19 saves.

Taro Hirose scored for the Red Wings, and Jonathan Bernier made 29 saves.

The game featured the two worst teams in the Eastern Conference. Both had only seven wins coming in. New Jersey started the night in 15th place with 18 points, one more than Detroit.

      SHARKS 2, ISLANDERS 1

      OILERS 4, GOLDEN KNIGHTS 2

      STARS 2, BLACKHAWKS 1

        • Armadillo: Sunday's six-pack

Top six picks for Week 12 in Westgate Super Contest:

          6) Titans -3, (748)

          5) Cowboys +6.5 (840)

          4) Jets +3 (891)

          3) Ravens -3 (1,021)

          2) Seahawks +2 (1,148)

          1) Packers +3.5 (1,312)

          2019 record: 33-30-3

          **********

          Armadillo: Sunday's List of 13:Wrapping up a sports Saturday…….

          13) Ohio State 28, Penn State 17— Buckeye coach Ryan Day was complaining at halftime because his team (which was up 14-0) wasn’t up 34-0. Wonder how his mood was when Penn State closed the gap to 21-17.

Buckeyes outgained Penn State 417-227; playing in a competitive game should help them down the road. Nittany Lions got a 3rd quarter boost from freshman backup QB Will Lewis, but they came up short.

Penn State coach James Franklin is 54-23 in Happy Valley, 33-18 in conference games, 2-3 in bowls; before that, he was 24-15 in three years at Vanderbilt, 11-13 in SEC games, 2-1 in bowl games. Winning at Vanderbilt is no small feat.

          12) Florida International 30, Miami 24— Panthers become bowl eligible with this stunning upset, which happened at Marlins’ Park, which was built on the spot where the old Orange Bowl used to be. The Orange Bowl was Miami’s home stadium.

Former Miami coach Butch Davis is FIU’s coach; all of FIU’s players probably grew up wanting to play for Miami. Hard to underestimate how much this win means for the FIU program.

          11) USC 52, UCLA 35— Trojans finish their regular season 8-4 after using three different QB’s due to injuries; the kid who emerges as the #1 QB is a true freshman who threw for 515 yards and four TD’s. The new USC athletic director has an interesting decision; do you bring in a new coach, or give Clay Helton another chance?

To be clear here, lot of rich boosters aren’t all that excited by an 8-4 record.

          10) Arizona State 31, Oregon 28— Sun Devils become bowl eligible while they knock Oregon out of the national title picture. In his two years at ASU, Herm Edwards is 2-7 ATS when ASU is favored, 8-4 when they’re the underdog.

          9) SouthPoint Casino in Las Vegas has a fun prop bet every week; which team will score the first touchdown of the day? Lowly UConn (25-1) was this week’s winner.

          8) Washington State 54, Oregon State 53— Coogs scored two TD’s in last 2:10 to stave off the surging Beavers, who now have to upset Oregon next week to become bowl eligible.

Wazzu started this season 3-0, then blew a 49-17 3rd quarter lead and lost 67-63 to UCLA- they fired their defensive coordinator and limp into the Apple Cup with a 6-5 record.

Coogs’ QB Gordon threw for 606 yards, with three INTs.

          7) College football upsets:
          — Florida International (+20.5) 30, Miami 24
          — Colorado (+14) 20, Washington 14
          — Arizona State (+14) 31, Oregon 28
          — Nevada (+13.5) 35, Fresno State 28
          — Charlotte (+7) 24, Marshall 13
          — UNLV (+7) 38, San Jose State 35

          6) Charlotte 24, Marshall 13— 49ers upset the Thundering Herd on a rainy night, becoming bowl eligible for the first time in their five years of I-A football.

          5) Tennessee 24, Missouri 20— Vols win their 4th game in a row, becoming bowl eligible for the first time in three years. Solid coaching job by Jeremy Pruitt.

          4) College basketball upsets:
          — Penn (+13.5) 81, Providence 75
          — Sacramento State (+12) 77, Pepperdine 72
          — NC-Wilmingtonn (+10) 66, FIU 63
          — Cleveland State (+7) 65, Eastern Kentucky 51
          — George Washington (+7) 78, Evansville 70
          — Utah Valley (+6) 68, North Dakota State 62

          3) College basketball games of the day:
Boise State 82, Pacific 76, 3OT— Broncos won second consecutive OT game; they made 11-23 on arc, Pacific 3-12.

Memphis 87, Ole Miss 86— Rebels were down 16 in 2nd half, but drained 12-27 on arc and made it a ballgame. Both teams took 30+ foul shots in what is a regional rivalry game.

          2) I enjoy SEC football, but this shouldn’t happen on November 23:
          — Alabama 66, Western Carolina 3
          — Auburn 52, Samford 0
          — Kentucky 50, UT-Martin 7
          — Vanderbilt 38, East Tennessee State 0
          — Mississippi State 45, Abilene Christian 7

It is embarrassing to brag that you’re the best league in the country, then play I-AA teams the week before Thanksgiving. There are plenty of bad I-A teams (UMass, New Mexico State, MAC, Sun Belt teams) who could use a payday. Charging people to watch Alabama play a I-AA team is theft.

In the ACC, North Carolina/Virginia also played I-AA teams this week. Not good.

          1) Arkansas State 38, Georgia Southern 33— Great coaching job this season by ASU coach Blake Anderson, whose wife passed away just before this season started. Red Wolves are 7-4 and will go to a bowl, putting a cap on what has had to be a very emotional season.

                      SHOOTING STARS

The Dallas Stars are the hottest team in the NHL and have put an incredible 13-1-1 run together since October 19. Over those 15 games, the Stars are 5-10 O/U and have covered the puckline as a favorite in five of their last six.

The Stars will entertain the Vegas Golden Knights (2-3 SU, 1-3-1 O/U last five) on Monday as -125 favorites. This is great value for a team that hasn’t lost at home in November and is facing a team that has dropped four straight on the road.

We love the Dallas ML, lean on the Under 5.5 and wouldn’t disagree with the puckline +195 for the trifecta.

                      FADING THE FLAMES

Monday’s match between the Calgary Flames (1-4 SU, 0-4-1 O/U last five) and the Pittsburgh Penguins (2-3 SU, 3-2 O/U last five) gives bettors a chance to fade the league’s worst offense. Calgary has just eight goals in their last seven games. Over that stretch, Calgary was shut out three times and now has to face a Pittsburgh team that has the fifth-best penalty killing in November and are allowing just 2.23 goals per game at home this year.

Not everyone enjoys playing hockey Unders, especially at 5.5, but the Flames haven’t hit an Over in seven-straight games while the Pens have held opponents to two or fewer goals in five of their last six. Take the Under 5.5 on this Monday night matchup.

                      FAMILIAR OPPONENTS

Tuesday will give us a battle of two of the top teams in the Atlantic Division. The Boston Bruins (4-1 SU, 1-4 O/U last five) and Montreal Canadiens (1-4 SU, 4-1 O/U last five) have played each other more than any other two teams in NHL history. The head-to-head matchup over the last two years favors the Bruins 6-3 SU as the road team will get a chance to hand the Habs a fifth-straight loss.

The Bruins seem like the obvious play here but Boston goalie Tukka Rask has had his struggles with Montreal over his career as he is 11-17-4 versus the Canadiens. The Bruins have also allowed teams to score four goals or more in five of their last seven road games.

We are passing on the Habs’ ML but will play the plus-money Over on Montreal’s team total of 3.5.

                      LAME DUCK

The most penalized team in the league over the last three weeks will take on the Arizona Coyotes (3-2 SU, 1-4 O/U last five) in Anaheim on Wednesday night. The Ducks are shooting themselves in the foot of late averaging over eight minutes of PK time per game. Combine that with their 30th-ranked penalty killing over their last seven games and you can see why Anaheim has won just twice in November (2-8 SU).

The ‘Yotes are playing at a different level than their Wednesday opponents as Arizona has won five of their last eight thanks to great goaltending (92.19 save percentage last three weeks) and a powerplay that is scoring at 20 percent.

Jump on the road team and take Arizona’s ML.

                      LEAF IT TO KEEFER

The Toronto Maple Leafs lost six-straight games, fired their coach in the middle of a six-game road trip and have responded by going 2-0 SU and 2-0 ATS under new coach Sheldon Keefe. The team will look to keep that positive energy rolling for a road date with the Detroit Red Wings (0-5 SU, 3-2 O/U last five) on Wednesday night.

As of Monday, the Wings are losers of six straight and are coming in with just one goal in their last six periods of hockey. The Leafs have already won in Detroit once this year, a 5-2 win that saw them outshoot the Wings 41-27.

We are riding this reborn Toronto team for another go and taking the Leafs’ puckline -1.5.

GOALIE PROFILE: ANTON KHUDOBIN, DALLAS STARS

The Stars’ “backup” goalie currently sits fourth in the league in goals against at 2.15 and fourth in save percentage at .929. Khudobin has been stellar for the Central’s second-place Stars, winning four of his last five starts and has allowed more than two goals just once since October 22.

The Stars play back-to-back games on Monday and Tuesday and we expected Anton to get the start on the back end as he has yet to start in consecutive games this year as Ben Bishop is also playing exceptional. The Stars will visit the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday, a team that Khudobin just beat 2-1 last week making 38 of 39 saves.

We will be backing the Stars Tuesday on the ML as we may get a good number with Dallas on the road and playing the second game of a back-to-back.

INJURY UPDATE: D KRIS LETANG, PITTSBURGH PENGUINS

The Penguins could get some big help with the possible return of Kris Letang on Monday versus the Flames. The All-Star defenseman has missed the last eight games but averages 25 minutes of ice time a game (eighth-most in the league) and is 10th in powerplay time per game by defensemen.

Having Letang back on the powerplay could boost a unit that was 23rd in powerplay percentage in his absence. The Flames penalty killing isn’t anything special as they sit 15th in PK percentage.

If Letang suits up, we will play the Over on the Penguins’ team total of 3.5.

                      HAT TRICK TRENDS

                      • The Calgary Flames are 6-19 O/U on first-period totals, the lowest mark in the league. Over their last ten, they are 2-8 O/U first-period totals. The Flames travel to Pittsburgh (9-13 O/U first-period totals) on Monday night.

                      • Staying on the first-period totals, Tuesday will see two of the league’s better Over producers when the Boston Bruins visit the Montreal Canadiens. At home, Montreal is 9-2 O/U first-period totals while the Bruins are 7-2 O/U first-period totals on the road.

                      • The Washington Capitals are 9-2-1 O/U this year at home and will host the Florida Panthers on Wednesday. The Panthers have hit the Over in six of their last seven games and the total has gone Over in four-straight games between these two clubs.

                          November 25, 2019
                          By The Associated Press

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) Oliver Bjorkstrand scored 21 seconds into the third period and Joonas Korpisalo earned his second career shutout, lifting the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 1-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Monday night.

The win was the fourth in five games for the Blue Jackets (10-9-4) and it marked their fourth straight at home over Ottawa.

Korpisalo stopped 25 shots in his 10th victory. Craig Anderson made 18 saves for the Senators (11-12-1), who had won four in a row.

It was nearly three minutes into the game before Columbus took a shot, and the Blue Jackets put just eight pucks on net through 30 minutes of play.

Zach Werenski had an assist and pushed his point streak to seven games, and Boone Jenner's assist was the 100th of his career.

Ottawa's best scoring chance came when Connor Brown got a 1-on-1 with Korpisalo at 8:36 of the third, but could not beat him.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Jakub Voracek scored midway through the third period to lift Philadelphia over Vancouver.

Voracek one-timed Justin Braun's pass off the right post and behind goalie Thatcher Demko. Voracek's sixth of the season and second in two games snapped a 1-1 tie.

Sean Couturier scored his seventh goal for Philadelphia, and Carter Hart stopped 16 shots.

J.T. Miller put Vancouver ahead with his 10th goal midway through the first period, but Demko couldn't make it stand. He made 32 saves.

Vancouver didn't get many scoring chances in the final two periods, but Hart made a pad save on Josh Leivo with 17.4 seconds left in the third.

The Lightning swept a pair of games from the Sabres in Stockholm, Sweden, on Nov. 8-9. Since the start of the 2013-14 season, the Lightning are 22-4-2 against Buffalo.

Chris Kreider tied it for the Rangers on a power-play goal with less than three minutes left in the third period. Brady Skjei scored early and Artemi Panarin had three assists, giving him at least one point in all 11 games New York has won this season.

David Perron and Brayden Schenn scored for St. Louis, which has lost two straight.

In the fourth round of the shootout, Carr skated to his left, and then drifted to the slot where he snapped a quick wrist shot by Blues goaltender Jake Allen. Carr was recalled from Milwaukee of the AHL earlier Monday.

Allen made 37 shots. He stopped two of four in the shootout.

                              13) All these ex-referees on football telecasts wouldn’t be so bad, if they didn’t constantly blindly congratulate officials on the field for always making good calls, because they don’t always make good calls.

In Sunday’s Dallas-New England game, they called tripping on the Cowboys center in a big spot which was a horrendous call, yet FOX’s Mike Pereira went out of his way to say it was a good call. Troy Aikman called him out on it, which was good.

If they’re not going to be critical when deserved, they shouldn’t be on TV.

                              12) Detroit Lions wanted to sign journeyman QB Josh Johnson to back up Jeff Driskel with Matthew Stafford injured, but the XFL blocked the deal, since Johnson is already under contract to play for the Los Angeles Wildcats when the new league starts in February.

33-year old Johnson can’t be happy about this; he’s been under contract with 15 different NFL teams in his career. You have to figure the XFL is going to be a lot like the AAF was last winter, as in, light years from NFL quality.

                              11) Pretty cool moment at a I-AA game in Youngstown over the weekend; senior QB Nathan Mays injured his leg, but he suited up and a couple of his teammates carried him on the field so he could take the last snap of his career in victory formation. Then they carried him off the field, because he couldn’t walk on his own.

For teammates to think so much of a guy that they would do that, it was a good moment.

                              10) Winnipeg 33, Hamilton 12— Congrats to the Blue Bombers, who won their first Grey Cup title since 1990.

                              9) Kansas 93, Chaminade 63— This was Bill Walton’s first ESPN broadcast of the season, so I learned something that has nothing to do with basketball.

Because whales are an endangered (and therefore protected) species, the whale population has been growing worldwide, at the rate of roughly 7% each year.

                              8) NFL favorites are 77-94-5 ATS this season.

                              7) Ravens 45, Rams 6:
                              — Ravens won their last seven games, covered last five.
                              — Baltimore scored a touchdown the first six times they had the ball.

                              6) Cincinnati Bengals came to their senses and will start Andy Dalton at QB Sunday, after rookie Ryan Finley started the last three games.

                              5) Cleveland Browns won their last three games after a 2-6 start, are only a game out of the 2nd Wild Card slot in the AFC. Only one team, the 1970 Bengals, made the playoffs after starting a season 2-6.

                              4) UNLV upset San Jose State 38-35 Saturday, in the last college football game at Sam Boyd Stadium- the Rebels move into brand-new Allegiant Stadium next year.

Hasn’t been a good year for UNLV; they fired coach Tony Sanchez Monday. Also in the Mountain West, New Mexico fired coach Bob Davie Monday.

                              3) Raptors 101, 76ers 96— Joel Embiid went scoreless for first time in his NBA career, going 0-11 from the floor, 0-3 on foul line in 32:00.

                              2) Baseball stuff:
                              — Atlanta Braves gave C Travis d’arnaud a 2-year, $16M contract.
                              — Tampa Bay Rays replaced d’arnaud with former Seattle catcher Mike Zunino.

                              1) Oregon Ducks have played 11 football games this year; five of them have come against teams who started freshman quarterbacks.

                                Star Light, Star Bright

The Dallas Stars have ripped off seven consecutive victories following their 4-2 victory against the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday night. As a result of the winning streak the Stars have rocketed up the standings in the Central Division, now just two points back of the defending champ and first-place St. Louis Blues. The Stars are doing it with a nice combination of offense and goaltending, posting 29 goals with just 14 goals allowed during the seven-game run. They're also working on a 12-game point streak, which is now the longest active run since the New York Islanders saw their streak snapped in Anaheim on Monday, 3-0. Ben Bishop has won six straight starts since his last loss Oct. 26, and he has allowed three or fewer goals in past 10 starts dating back to Oct. 14.

                                Looking Ahead

                                Tuesday, Nov. 26

                                Boston at Montreal:
The Bruins are starting to warm up again, and the rival Canadiens will be there at Bell Centre trying to cool them off in the Original Six battle. Boston will be without Patrice Bergeron, who is sidelined indefinitely due to a lower-body injury. Jaroslav Halak and Carey Price will square off in what could be a lower-scoring game. The 'under' is 5-2-2 in the past nine meetings in Montreal, and the under has connected in seven of the past eight meetings in this series, too. Boston has dominated the series lately, too, going 5-1 in the past six trips to Bell Centre, and 8-3 in the past 11 meetings overall. Another trend points to the B's, too, as the road team has won four of the past five in this series.

                                Wednesday, Nov. 27

                                Toronto at Detroit:
The Maple Leafs and Red Wings hook up at Little Caesars Arena in Hockeytown. The Leafs have responded under new head coach Sheldon Keefe, going 2-0 with wins at Arizona and at Colorado since Mike Babcock was dismissed following a 4-2 loss at Vegas on Nov. 19. This will be the second meeting of the season between these teams, as Toronto won 5-2 in Detroit back on Oct. 12, cashing as -200 favorites while narrowly hitting the 'over'. Despite the two-game winning streak on the road, the Leafs are still just 3-7 in the past 10 on the road, and they're 0-4 in the past four against Eastern Conference teams. The Wings haven't been much better, though, going 3-8 in the past 11 at LCA. The Leafs have also dominated their O6 rivals, going just 3-10 in the past 13 meetings, and 2-6 in the previous eight at home.

                                Carolina at N.Y. Rangers:
The Hurricanes will head to Madison Square Garden looking for some revenge after falling 4-2 on Nov. 7. Henrik Lundqvist stood on his head in that outing, and it came on the second end of a back-to-back situation, which was even more impressive. The Rangers are kryptonite for the Hurricanes. Really, everyone in the Metropolitan Division has been kryptonite to the Canes, as they're on an 0-6 cold streak against divisional foes. The Rangers posted an OT win over the visiting Wild on Monday, and they're 4-1 in the past five at Madison Square Garden. Speaking of kryptonite, MSG has been a house of horrors for Carolina, as they're just 5-21 in the past 26 visits to Manhattan, while going 14-38 in the past 52 battles overall against the Rangers.

                                Edmonton at Colorado:
The Oilers and Avalanche are set to square off at 10 p.m. ET in the Mile High City. The Oilers are 7-1 in the past eight as an underdog, and 6-1 in the past seven as a road 'dog, so watch this line closely. Edmonton has been red-hot away from home, going 6-2 in the past eight road games overall. The Avalanche are equally hot, going 19-7 in the past 26 at Pepsi Center, and 6-0 in the past six overall against teams with a winning percentage at .600 or better. They're also 15-5 in the past 20 as a home favorite, so something's gotta give. Looking at the head-to-head trends in this series, the arrow points squarely at the Oilers, who are 7-3 in the past 10 meetings, and 4-1 in the past five in Denver. The 'over' is also 5-0-1 in the past six battles in Colorado, so perhaps this kerfuffle will be a high-scoring affair.

                                Thursday, Nov. 28

                                New Jersey at Montreal:
The Devils will have to have to trade their turkey and mashed potatoes for a Labatt Blue and a serving of poutine, as they celebrate Thanksgiving north of the border in Montreal. The Habs enter on a 0-2-2 skid heading into Tuesday's game against the B's, including a 4-3 overtime loss at home on Nov. 16 against the Devils when backup goaltender Keith Kinkaid fell against Mac Blackwood. The Habs are in a bad way during their 0-2-2 slide, losing as favorites in each outing, taking a -693 loss if you ate the chalk in each outing. The Devils slapped the brakes on a two-game mini-slide by pushing aside the Red Wings by a 5-1 score on Saturday in Louis Domingue's team debut in the crease. Blackwood is expected to be back in there, however. Heading into Tuesday's game, the Devils are averaging just 2.1 goals per game across the past 10, with the under 5-2-1 across their past eight.
