But why is it a bad thing that this forum gets more views than any other? Isn't that what you'd want from your site if you were an owner? More traffic and interest?

Yes, I agree, it's a gambling site. But most gambling sites offer a wide variety of topics. This is a home to a lot of people. I argued with family members all the time. There's nothing wrong with people wanting to argue or debate. It only makes you smarter because when you argue, you know you better not be inaccurate because someone will inevitably call you on it. If things get out of hand, that's where the Mods come in to mediate.

Like I said, I've gleaned a lot through debates and information shared through this forum. I don't think it's going anywhere....

It's NOT JUST a gambling site Chungy. If all that was posted during baseball season were picks and team info, this place would be a ghost town. There are many facets to this site, gambling info and news being the primary one.

I understood your point Mavs, that this forum is the source for most of all the language and bickering here. But I'm not so sure that it's a bad thing. If I honestly got nothing out of it and didn't gleam a certain amount of intelligence from it, I'd be the first to say, dump it.

Knowledge is power and there have been some very interesting debates at times. I also appreciate Monte's threads and others as well and I generally read through them.

If people don't like reading it, they shouldn't open the threads. However, it's obvious by the views, they must like something about it and no one can dispute that.

Or a lesser interest in just baseball? Not a ton going on during the summer. UFC once a month, occassional WEC, baseball every night, and that's it. Do you want a wrestling forum? Celeberity gossip? I mean if people want to go there, they do. And if not, don't. Seems so simple. Maybe too simple.

Looks like people have no problem avoiding the Nascar or Stocks Forum. member records is avoided too.

vols, Monte closed this forum for awhile and me and joe asked for it to be reopened. Monte really didn't want to because of all the bullshit and we pretty much begged thinking it would bring traffic here. Well, i have since changed my mind on it again because i just didn't think it would dominate the website like it has. If it was 100 people talking, that would be one thing but it isn't. It is the same 10 guys bumping threads 500 times a day fighting the same fight with each other.

For me, it has become very, very, old and i'm kinda sick of it.

I'm not exactly sure who you are. There's a sarcastic undertone to your response, which means I must have offended you somehow. But, moving on....

There's a difference between an interesting forum, like the UFC Fprum or the Photo Post forum, and a forum that's overtaking the site.

My point being, the forum produces more problems than any other. Suppose your a new guy, looking to join a site for sports betting, you click on this one, and the main page shows:

5 threads with picks with 2-5 responses.
8 Political threads with 10-50 responses.
And a few other scattered threads.

Now, to you, would the site look more focused on Politics? Or Sports?

From the conclusion you draw, wouldn't that be a problem?

The Political forum is great for people like you, and Kaz and the others who enjoy it. But you are not the majority, and the fact is, the majority of people here, who visit here, and who are likely to join here are more interested in Sports than Religion.

And while you say, "just ignore it", that's not as easy as you make it seem.
