I don't think that throwing money at the education system is the answer though. Too many factors. Uninvolved parents I think being the most important. I starting reading up on vouchers, so I can't speak too much about those. But they do sound appealing.Last edited by BigWeiner; 11-21-2007, 05:47 PM.

Originally posted by tonynicoAgain, agree to disagree. If that is the case, then EVERY Congress person will be voted out next year. 11% approval rating is nuts. They aren't being held accountable, and they ran on ending the war and no pork. Will those complaining vote them out?
Should the Knicks stick with Isiah?

Originally posted by BigWeinerExactly. Throwing money no, but teachers need to make more money and need to have less kids. I don't wanna get started on this, I'm a little too far on the right on this issue. You know, dumb down the American people so they'll enlist. I won't get started. Good conversation, you're a smart dude, got a lot respect, wish more were like you. Take it easy.
I agree about teachers making better money (good ones, but union is too strong to get rid of the bad ones), more planning time, smaller classroom sizes, more funding for extrecurricular activities, etc. I don't think there's a conspiracy to "dumb down" America to get more enlistees though.

Originally posted by tonynicoTake care, nice conversation. Keeping it civil, and on topic, is not that hard!!

Originally posted by tonynicoI am not saying the criticsm isn't justified, just that at some point enough is enough. Everyone is going to be running on the "I'm not President Bush" platform, but I would prefer that any candidate would point out how they would do things differently. Sell the plan, sell the differences, and tell me how you will execute. But to keep beating the same "Bush is bad" drum isn't productive for the future. That is "piling on"!!

Originally posted by BearDownI don't think it's piling on. I guess it's just how you read into it. I think some candidates are just sending a message that we don't need another George Bush type President, AKA a Republican. You know, you don't hear any Republican candidate talking about how great things are going other than blind Rudy. You don't hear any of them saying we have to keep the George Bush policy going (unlike when Reagan left) do you? Nobody wants to be associated with George Bush, not even his own party.

I guess the guy that wrote the book about the republicans including Bush laughing behind the Religious leaders was all out for money too.

Originally posted by tonynicoWhere did he write that Bush can do no wrong? I don't think anyone would ever say that. He just wrote of t he interesting timing and money connection. Why is it that people don't seem to stay on topic, especially when discussing politics. It amazes me the outright hatred for our President. Polarizing I can see, legitimate disagreements with philosophically, yes. But the disrespect and hatred is crazy. And that's all that most Democrats, especially Hillary Clinton, seem to want to point out.

Originally posted by BigWeinerIt's amazing. There's no Global Warming, even though New Orleans is still under fucking water. The economy is great, even though people are being laid off left and right, the stock market is crashing, schools are completely fucked and the dollar is worth less than the Euro. Why can't people just look at their fucking window????
The dollar is worth less than the Canadian and at an all time low vs. the canadain since 1870.
