Or Better Yet Giving Tax Dollars To Rebuild Iraq.
Its All Very Hypocritical.

Originally posted by harold_bushNo offense, but if you are seriously comparing the economy under Carter with the economy under Bush, I don't even know where to start with you.
A guy that goes by the name bush? no wonder you dont know where to start
and btw no offense.

You elect people to give your tax dollars away. So the only say that you have as to where your tax dollars go is by your vote. I would rather that money is spent in our country also, but I also don't want tax dollars going to a Woodstock museum either.
Many people have defense contractor stocks in their portfolio on both sides of the aisle. So that's not a "Bush only helping his cronies" situation.

double digit inflation......people can't afford homes......double digit unemployment......
where is that now??? wasn't here under clinton either......nor bush.....
your hatred for bush is clouding your vision and your defense of carter is fairly weak.....
the economy is strong.....you must be young since you do not remember carter.....i do....when things were tough we could not get our credit card out.....people had to actually budget....
our military was falling apart.......
but like i said there is good and bad in every admin.....his you may have to look reaaaal hard.....there was good under clinton......there was good under the elder bush....and there is some good under this one....
the economy is not as cyclical as it once was because of trade and the global economy....
also i am not a supporter of the iraq war.....but it is there and whining about it everyday is not changing it......
i would rather that people with their own money pay for their childrens health care.....otherwise do not have them....
why should peoples children be the responsibility of govt.?
if a child is sick and their folks can not afford it there should be coverage....but not blanket coverage for more abuse of govt programs....i am tired of paying for other peoples kids who they shouldn't have had in the first place.....ie welfare babies......illegals.....etc.....

Not to harp on Carter too much but i want MM to know since he probably does not remember the tough times.....
prime rate was 21.5%...highest under any president....people could not heat their homes....his whole cabinet resigned.....we turned the panama canal (a strategic military advantage) over to a rogue dictator and unstable panamanian gov't...
inflation rate was 12.5% until he hired volker and instituted a tight monetary policy which took a long time to work
just wanted you to know.....that it was one of the poorer times in this country.....

But what is also obvious there is a a contingency of members that will defend bush no matter what he does.
I have a laundry list of trangressions he has committed and everytime a member says something about the lies and deceit there are a number of you guys who will run to the rescue.
I will continue to say this over and over again. If bill clinton or jimmy carter wouldve been in office during 9-11 A NUMBER OF YOU GUYS WOULDVE BEEN CRYING HOW SOFT DEMOCRATS ARE SOFT ON DEFENSE. But since bush was office it was 1 of 2 excuses,
1. Bill Clinton didnt do enough to get osama while he was in office.
2. This was a new type of attack so bush and his cabinet couldnt have been prepared for this at all.
I compare the failure in detecting the attack on 9-11 to the bundled rescue efforts in Iran.
Our president was in office for over a year and did nothing to protect the country even though he had the intelligence that they were planning an attack using aircraft.
As far whinning I would love to see clinton or carter in office right now and see these boards bogged down because guys like jordan rules, you and others complaining about the shitty job that one of them were doing.
But because its a supposed (conservative) you and others will continue to give a nod and wink no matter what this guy screws up next.
Outside of that no negative felling towards you or anyone on here, we have different beliefs and I will accept that and wish you a happy thanksgiving.

I haven't read through this whole thread, but that article heading is very misleading. This is from cnn.com in an article on the same subject:
"In an March interview with CNN's Larry King, McClellan said that if he knew now what he knew then, he wouldn't have issued the reassurances to the press, and suggested that he believed that both he and the president were misled by advisers — indicating that while the president passed on bad information, he didn't do it knowingly."O..H.........I..O!

What are the things that "aren't going so well" in our economy that aren't going to be ridden out? I think that SSI and Medicare and the possibility of rising inflation b/c of energy costs are the most potential drag on the economy.

If we weren't in war there would be a lot more loans being defaulted on, higher rate of unemployment etc.
