Just like your age tells how old you are, an ERA shows how good you are. It's pretty simple and a non baseball fan knows that. As far as whip goes, that is pretty obvious too, it shows how many base runners you allow every god damn inning to get that Era.

Again, numbers do not lie and neither does a fuckin PATHETIC 6.49 ERA. As much as AJ Burnett sucks, even his ERA is over a run less than fat Lackey.

By your standards, you can have a QB throw for 100 yards every week, zero TD's, 3 INT's and a fumble and if your team goes (8-8), you just keep starting him right?

FUCK NO, YOU REALIZE THOSE GAMES COULD ALL BE WON WITH A BETTER MORE RELIABLE PLAYER IN THAT SPOT.

Holy Fuck, how hard is that to understand?

Wayne nailed it...pitching. Wake me up in a week, hopefully this nightmare will be over
Yankees are on the verge of sweeping the doubleheader today thanks to a big hit by Posada, and yet Sox can gain no ground.
Sox may still be barely breathing thanks to Yanks the last two days but not much more.
ps this is very reminiscent of '78 for sure.

See Wayne your wrong again the QB starts every game the Pitcher starts every 5th game and you can consider the other 4 guys Lackeys replacement on the days he is not pitching they just cant find one to replace him on his day.

BTW for your QB arguement I will try this one for you.

            Chad Henne 12TD 14INT in 2009 7-9, 15 TD and 19 INT 2010 7-9

            Matt Schaub 29TD 15INT in 2009 9-7, 24TD 12INT 2010 6-10

            Mark Sanchez 12TD 20INT in 2009 9-7, 17TD 13 INT 2010 11-5

I would bet anything you would take Schaub on your fantasy team and wouldnt want either of the other 2 but all 3 are starters and 1 has made the playoffs both years and thats Sanchez. So like I said the object is to win.

What do you mean? We gained 1/2 a game tonight!!!

If Anaheim wins tonight, they are both 2.5 back of the WC.

Never been so happy in my life to watch the Yankees clinch the Division Title!!!

Im not talking fantasy i am proving to you what your saying,Lackey stinks but he won 12 games .I think Sanchez has shitty stats but he does what he is suppose to do to win.I put Henne in there because he is still playing despite not being a good QB.

You would say Schaub is better and I am saying you would take him in fantasy football as your QB, even tho he is not a winner its proven look at the stats.

You can do a poll and list all 25 players, the GM, Manager, and ownership and ask what the biggest, most glaring problem on this team was this year and 95% of the votes would be listed near John Lackey. That's all that matters to me giz, the people that are watching the games all know and again, that's all that matters.

Boy you're not kidding about rooting for the Yanks. lol
I will be interesting to see how Yanks do tomorrow having clinched tonight.
More importantly how will they treat those games against the Sox this weekend.
Some feel that they will want to defeat the Sox not so much to get revenge for the 4-11 record against them this season(I still have to pinch myself that that is in fact their record against them) but more importantly Yanks know that they if they get in they will be easy fodder for the Tigers, who are quite hot-Yanks would rather take their chances with Texas and hope TB can give Detroit a run for that matter.
Others say that Girardi is going to rest people and get them ready for playoffs and not be concerned about who gets wildcard.
I think that one of things working against the Sox is that the Jays play TB three games over the weekend at TB-Toronto is coming some big emotional series against the Yanks and Angels and may not have anything left for the Rays on the road.
                      It should prove interesting.
At this juncture and considering the schedules of both the Sox and Rays for the rest of the season, in all honesty at best I would give the Sox between a 30 and 40% chance of making the playoffs.

The funniest part is that Lackey would have been removed from the rotation 3 weeks ago but they have absolutely nobody to fill his spot. Tito was saying today that he doesn't know when they will even pitch him again. Could have been Sunday but Aceves may get that start. Not sure what he is gonna do. Guy is making over 15 million and we would rather throw a long or middle reliever over him because he is just that bad!

Everybody for NY gets tomorrow off i bet savage. Play the Rays!

I am saying you would take Schaub and not Mark Sanchez you know why, its because his stats are better but he doesnt win and sanchez does what it takes to win.So you would say Schaub is better.

You would rather have a 8-14 pitcher with a 4.80 ERA because his ERA and WHIP look better. It doesnt make any sense the object is to win the games.

Do you think the Padres should get into the playoffs because there team ERA is 4rth in baseball or the Dodgers who r 6th or Wash who r 9th. You know why they dont get in its because they didnt WIN THE GAMES. Thats why ERA and WHIP are overated and WINS are the most important thing in baseball unless you r an agent trying to get your pitcher a new contract.

Yankees have been pitching 6 guys trying to figure out who should pitch in playoffs for over a month now.

Schaub is better. You put him on the Jets with that defense and sexy Rexy has his SB already!

Yes i would. Any pitcher with them skills and that era would be (15-10) at worst in Lackey's place. Correct again!

Obviously you need some offense to go with that pitching. Just by having Gonzalez last year, the Pads contended. They traded him and now they didn't. You put the Padres 3/4/5 in Boston and they win the Division!

Yankees have the 3rd best ERA in the A.L. giz. Boston is 10th out of 14. That is why they won the Division. If Boston had the 3rd best team ERA in the A.L., they would have won the Division. Yes, it is simple.
                            Those were easy answers!

UR up by 2 1/2 games with 6 to play if you go 2-4 Tampa has to go 5-2 for a playin game.Thats the worst case I see is a tie. I really dont thik Boston will go 2-4 so TB will need to go 6-1 which I dont think will happen so I would say Boston is 75 % in

I don't know how you can say 75% chance.
Sox have all six games on the road while after tomorrow Rays have all six games at home.
In spite of the three losses against the Yanks, the Rays have still played a lot better than have the Sox during the last month and thats not saying much.
I will admit that my 30-40% chance for Sox may have been a little too pessimistic as the Sox gained a game in the loss column today.
I will thus revise it to 40-50% tops chance for the Sox.
