anything would be an upgrade over Tek his career was done before last year. the guy was a gamer for the sox but he is and has been basically an automatic out again all season long. his avg has hovered around .230 most of the year.Originally posted by wayne1218 View PostThose numbers are from April and May Bryan. They do us no good right now. Did you see the numbers for July? He isn't going in the right direction for me.
also hitting in that indians lineup isnt exactly something to be fearful of. i mean sizemore has been hurt. i think martinez will do really well in the sox lineup.2013 NCAA POD Record

At the end of April Martinez was hitting .386Originally posted by 10DimeBry View Postanything would be an upgrade over Tek his career was done before last year. the guy was a gamer for the sox but he is and has been basically an automatic out again all season long. his avg has hovered around .230 most of the year.

At the End of May .350
At the end of June .313
And now at the end of July he is currently hitting .284
He is breaking down AGAIN Bryan and his numbers are dropping like crazy. I personally think this is a bad, bad deal and i don't like it at all.

I'd say there are pretty good odds that Washburn posts a 4+ ERA from here on out. We'll see.Originally posted by wayne1218 View PostAfter Buehrle, i don't trust any of those guys.
I think Detroit getting Washburn was HUGE. Nobody in that division can catch them now imo with Verlander, Jackson & Washburn!

You had Washburn listed as part of the 4th best 1-2 punch in baseball!Originally posted by ctt8410 View PostI'd say there are pretty good odds that Washburn posts a 4+ ERA from here on out. We'll see.
Ahead of Beckett & Lester i might add!Originally posted by ctt8410 View PostOut of all 30 teams, here are my top 1-2 punches so far this season:
Giants (Lincecum/Cain)
Tigers (Verlander/Jackson)
Cardinals (Carpenter/Wainwright)
Mariners (Felix/Washburn)
Braves (Vazquez/Jurrjens)
Of the 7 choices:
Giants
Tigers
Cardinals
Red Sox
Yankees
Rays
Cubs

I was answering the question in terms of who's pitched the best so far this season, not really trying to predict anything going forward. Washburn has been amazing so far this year, but a flyball pitcher moving from Safeco to the Cell? With a worse defense behind him? I think things are about to head downhill.

I really like the Peavy trade for the WhiteSox, even if he doesn't pitch this year. Richard is ok, but he's just a mediocre 4th or 5th starter. Peavy is an ace. It's just an ankle injury besides, it's not his arm, he should be able to make it back for the very end of the season. So if they can stay in the race, he'll be huge.

I think they gave up too much, but with that said, I think their lineup just became that much more lethal. Victor can hit. Ellisbury, Pedroia, Youk, Ortiz, Bay, Victor, is a tough 1-6. I think if you're gonna trade prospects, you should go for big time Ace pitchers. I'm really curious to know what they would've had to give up for Halladay.Originally posted by wayne1218 View PostHey ctt, BW, Be honest, do you like the Victor Martinez trade for Boston? Most people seem to except for me.
