According to MLB.com's Corey Brock, the Padres have dealt injured ace Jake Peavy to the White Sox for left-handers Aaron Poreda and Clayton Richard, and right-handers Adam Russell and Dexter Carter.Originally posted by wayne1218 View PostESPN has said nothing about this???
Leave it to White Sox GM Kenny Williams to sit quietly during the weeks leading up to the trade deadline, only to make a major splash in the final seconds. Poreda was in the original deal that Peavy vetoed back in May, but Richard was not. So it seems the San Diego ace only sweetened the Padres' haul by rejecting the initial proposal. Peavy signed off on the deal this time.

I agree, his is a great pickup but ESPN is saying Peavy might not even pitch again this year and Chicago gave up one of their starters to get him. Aren't they still in the race and will this screw them for this year?Originally posted by BigWeiner View PostPeavy's under contract until 2013, $17 mill a year. I don't think he'll be back for a while, but even if they just have him for next year, that's pretty solid. His arm is still fine, just his ankle.

correct but the contract states that the team can buyout of peavy's contract for 500k after 2009 season. so the chiSox have a out if they dont want to hang on to him for whatever reasonOriginally posted by BigWeiner View PostPeavy's under contract until 2013, $17 mill a year. I'm just not sold on him Bryan. I think he was on that steroid list too. He was injured all of last year and hit 2 HR's. I felt like he was starting to "Break Down" than. He started off great this year but he hasn't been hitting any HR's of late and he is batting .171 in the month of July. We have enough of those guys and he might be fading again this year. Just not a big fan and what, do they keep 3 catchers? Can he catch Wakefield when he comes back?
I don't know, i really wanted a SP badly, not Martinez.

Yea they traded Richard who was suppose to pitch tonight. 8 innings last two times out. 4.65 ERA. Maybe they think Peavy will be back sooner than later.Originally posted by wayne1218 View PostI agree, his is a great pickup but ESPN is saying Peavy might not even pitch again this year and Chicago gave up one of their starters to get him. That got Buehrle, Danks, Floyd, Colon and Contreras, so I guess Richard was just filling in.

Bryan, Martinez has 1 HR in his last 26 games and that was 3 games ago. Before that he went 23 games w/out a HR. His power has evaporated again and his average is sinking like a lead balloon. Why? Why?? Why???
Hell, Tek has 2 HR's in July!

I think Detroit getting Washburn was HUGE. Nobody in that division can catch them now imo with Verlander, Jackson & Washburn!
