How does Calipari have the right to take the kids Memphis spent money on and walk over to UK with them??

I told you Wayne, doing this with recruits is fucked up IMO. You have your opinion I have mine. But how is it fair for Calipari to spend Memphis' money and then take the recruits to UK, is he gonna' pay back Memphis for spent money? No. You can also stop asking me if I'm serious, because YES, I am. He took one universities' money to get kids, and is gonna' bring them to another university. Please, justify that load of bull shit for me.
Mavs, what about the 40 other schools that recruited these kids? So when Memphis got their verbal commitments did they compensate the schools that lost out? What about the 500 other HS basketball players that Memphis recruited that they didn't get? When you spend money on a kid and don't get them does the other school that got them reimburse the school that did?

This is as crazy an argument as yours.

They have the RIGHT per the NCAA guidelines. They may and they may not. I, like you, assume they will. They signed because they thought he would be there. He is not. Their choice.

99.9% of the time kids make their choice on the coach and the staff, not the school! Other schools paid to recruit these kids too, but they were going to Memphis because of Cal. Not surprising at all to see these guys follow the coach! It's the way of the business. What's F'up is the coaches can take another job without sitting out a year and the players cannot! Doesn't have to be fair but it is what it is!

It is also a kids choice at any time to transfer. Maybe that is easier to understand. Calipari doesn't sign their paperwork to change schools, they do, and it is their right. Kids transfer every year and again, it is part of the "Business" of CBB. How you exclude the kids and THEIR CHOICE, that's what really baffles me. You're angry, i get it, but you are blaming the wrong person.

But the point is for the 5 years since Memphis unofficial and offical recruiters have been after these kids before they had hair on their Nuts, Calipari was the coach, kids wanted to play for him, not to attend Memphis A&T. So they were actually lucky to spend the couple of thousand of their 100 + million basketball money to recruit them.

Because Calipari brought Memphis back to a high ranked program, he can (essentially) do whatever he pleases. And because he made them money, he has the right to take the kids Memphis spent money on and walk over to UK with them??

Memphis paid Calipari to do his job, he did it, but how the f**k does that entitle him to take recruits that are Memphis'?? Calipari made Memphis money, and by your logic he can do what he wants with that money, including SPENDING IT ON ANOTHER SCHOOL!!!! Come on now, you can't think its fair that Memphis spends money to get kids, and UK ends up with them basically without spending a dime.

It's the recruits and nothing more that makes me hate Calipari.

He isn't taking anybody. Take your blinders off for a minute. Nobody is being forced to do anything and the KIDS HAVE THE CHOICE. If they want to go to Memphis, they will. You are so wrong, it's beyond belief. You act like it is a crime of kidnapping.

A friend of mine and season ticket holder from Memphis said the same thing, I laughed, almost as much as when I heard Mike Anderson. A no name coach here would be a death sentence to that program. What about Lavin the old Cal coach now ESPN talking head. They need a name

He gave Memphis some great years and he did a great job when he was there. What's wrong with accepting that and liking him for what he did do for Memphis? I was just taking a shower and caller after caller on sports radio was calling for Memphis. They were all sad to see him go but none were surprisingly angry. Most to a man said they loved his time there and they wish him luck. Why the bitterness?

It appalls me no end that some of these players wouldn't have a prayer of being admitted to some of these schools(meaning they are not smart enough and/or motivated enough academically)if it weren't for their athletic abilities.
Of course, as we all know, some of these prized "students" and are "tutored" and "helped" along the way to be sure that they do pass the exams and get through college so that they can continue to play sports-for both the good of the "student" and for the school itself of course.
And as stated earlier the colleges make hundreds of millions off these "students" to provides stronger programs to real students.
