I completely understand wanting to stick it to past organizations but Brett Favre retired. He walked away. So, the Packers promoted Rodgers to starter and drafted 2 quarterbacks. Suddenly, Brett comes back and wants to be the starter again (also saying he doesn't want to be a backup and doesn't want to be traded unless it's to a winner).

Favre is coming off as a total jerk in this scenario and thinking about taking the $20 Million is just further proof when he has a chance to be traded to the New York Jets instead but doesn't want to because they likely wouldn't make the playoffs and he can't play Green Bay.

I guess I'm more amazed at the audacity of Brett, as if expecting the club to bend over backwards for his demands is realistic whilst stating within those demands that he wants to go to a division rival if he doesn't get his way.


Fuck this guy. Let him go play for the fucking Vikings, but fleece some of that offensive line in a trade, as well. He'll have no one to throw it to over there anyways, and when he meets the most hostile reception he's ever gotten at fucking Lambeau of all places, he can go and throw another back-breaking interception or two like the one that cost us the NFC Championship last year.

Ted Thompson is not the guy Packers fans should be mad at if Favre comes back to play for another team. Favre is the selfish prick in this situation, Thompson has done nothing but help build a young, great team through the draft on the cheap along with Mike McCarthy (who he also hired).


The problem here is that Favre isn't being flexible at all. The Packers don't want him back, then fine, but Favre is still under contract and they have the right to trade him to wherever they want. However, Favre doesn't just want to play, he wants to screw over the Packers by going to the one team that would hurt them the most and he wants a release rather than a trade so that they get no compensation back. I'm sorry, but the Packers are more than willing to settle this and it is Favre that hasn't budged one bit from his initial demand. If he really wants to play, what is wrong with playing for Tampa Bay which happens to be a contender as it is?

Your original arguement and reason for the post was that Green Bay was "cowards" for offering Favre $20million to stay retired. If that wasn't a business decision, I guess you were right all along. No matter now, Favre is in camp and ready to go. Now is the time to see what happens long term. Are you ready for some football???

Brett Favre's Packers career appears exactly as it has over the last several months, at best in limbo, at worst over. After hours of meetings and few if any details emerging, it now seems less and less likely that Favre will be back on the playing field for the Packers, FOXSports.com has learned.

The two sides are expected to meet again in the morning as they try to work toward a solution palatable to both sides. However, one detail FOXSports.com gathered from the meeting was Favre's insistence that he did not want his presence to destroy the team's chemistry. In fact, Favre was adamant that he wanted to do what was in the best interest of the locker room and admitted this distraction was not what his teammates needed.

Another agreement from the meeting was that, despite reports to the contrary, there would not be an open quarterback competition as even Favre felt this would not be in the best interests of the locker room. Thus, Aaron Rodgers is the team's starting quarterback.

As Favre met with head coach Mike McCarthy and GM Ted Thompson late Monday, the sides were moving toward an agreement to end this circus, but uncertainty remained about what that agreement ultimately will be.

Favre and the team continued to hold the same viewpoints they've held for weeks but rather than continuing their stalemate, they have joined in pursuit of a mutually agreeable solution. Whether that solution will entail a trade, a release or another option was not determined in the meeting.

Favre, however, stood to his long-standing desire to stay within the division. But the Packers were still hoping to find another option.

Favre now has to truly decide if he wants to play football for one of the two teams that have shown interest — the Jets and the Bucs — or continue to push for a solution that does not appear to be viable to the Packers.

The two sides aired grievances and actually had amicable talks. In fact, McCarthy and Favre met for so long the coach was unable to attend his scheduled team meeting and chose to cancel his press conference rather than address the media before having an opportunity to meet with his players.

Thompson and Favre then met at about 11 p.m. local time as the two tried to come to determine what their next step would be.

While they did not find an answer to a situation that has become stressful to all involved, at least all parties now appear to agree that this situation must soon come to a workable conclusion.

IMO they should allow Favre to go to any team of his choice outside the division providing both teams agree on a reasonable trade.

The one factor where I blame the Packers is their asking price in a trade. Asking for a #1 is unfair and unreasonable. You can't expect much compensation when you weren't expecting Favre to play at all.

I think Favre has made it clear that he will only accept a trade to a divisional team. I know the Packers don't want that but what they have going on right now is even worse. Take what you can get for draft picks and deal with facing him twice a year for 1 or 2 years. This wouldn't be the 1st Superstar athlete that went to a rival. Enough is enough. I think it is time for the Packers to cut their losses and move on. It's obvious they don't want Favre there.

After hearing Brett Favre's comments today, i still think Ted Thompson is a pussy and a coward but hey, that's just my opinion.

The NFL is different than the other 3 league's. Hell, the NFL ignores the trading deadline every year and teams do nothing. No, not many traded in most sports because of their options. In the NFL, the rules are different. Seriously, Green Bay has said we've moved on from the Brett Favre era 1000 times. Well, trade him to a team he will accept and get what you can. Whether the Packers like it or not, they have to do something soon. It is only hurting them more and more with each passing day.

How did Brett Favre blink? Once again, another slimeball move by the Packers telling everyone Favre is welcomed and able to compete for the job ... only to tell him behind closed doors in the 11th hour once he's there that it is not going to happen.

KB, by all accounts, the locker room is split on this and having cameras in their face every day asking QB questions can't be a helpful distraction.
