"BIG GAME PLAY"--GAME OF THE MONTH on:

    Cleveland Indians -130 (ML WINNER)

-The bottom line is that the Indians are surging and the Devil Rays are slumping......This one is not so much a tale of the Pitchers for me, as it is more so a tale of who is better at the plate and on Offense.......Yes I know that defense wins games, but today, it will be a combination of both Offense and Defense of the Indians that should bring this Big Play on home for All of us today.....

Cleveland is stroking RHP's at home averaging .310 vs them.....Overall for the year, this average is a bit higher......Hell Yeah!.....TB, on the other hand, on the road vs RHP's are ONLY hitting .219 vs them....Oh Boy!

Still here are other advantages and differences between the two teams I like in this one.....Cleveland is the 3rd ranked hitting team in the League.....TB is ranked 2nd to last at the plate in the League, only above the Expose......While Cleveland ranks #3 in the League in hitting %, they also are ranked #1 in the League in OBP, whereas TB ranks again at 2nd to last in the League in these catergories......In addition, Cleveland is ranked 6th in Runs scored in the League with (187)......TB is once more ranked 2nd to last in the League in Runs Scored with just (125)....

Westbrook will take the hill for the Indians today, and in his starts where he has gotten the W's going 2-0, has pitched superby......He took out both Boston and Detroit's guns in 15 innings(1 complete game), allowing just 8 hits, and 2 runs....WOW!...His only bad outing was his last one vs Balt. where he got a ND, but was hit for 10, and gave up 6 ER's.....But again, Balt is the #3 ranked hitting team in the land tied with Cleveland, and the Devil Rays are not...

Other stats of interest favoring the Indians today are:

-Cleveland is 14-6 vs TB in their last 20 meetings.....More currently Cleveland have won the last 5 of 7 games between them....
-TB is 1-4 in Zambrano's last 5 starts....
-This will be Zambrano's 5th straight game pitching on the road, where he has not won a decision yet....At home Victor Z is a solid 3-1, but he gets no Love away from home sweet home....
-TB is ONLY 3-15 away from Home Sweet Home...

I feel that teams get pumped up to face him because he was looked upon by some to be the Great Yankee Killer.....ashe beat the Yankee's Allstar Guns twice this year.......Still, that was in his first 2 starts on the year that were way back in March and the beginning of April.....Since then, the only thing consistant about his game seems to be that his ER allowed is going up with each start, and that he gives up a HR per a game......as his last 4 starts can atest to......Not Good!

Cleveland is still behind the .500 mark by 4 games, and they would like nothing more than to get it even or above the .500 mark by the Allstar break.....Today they face a team that they have dominated in the past and one which should help in them take a step closer to getting that mark......One intangible that may also work in the Indians favor today is that the Devil Rays after last nights come from behind game, may be very emotionally and physically drained a bit after expending all their energies ONLY to fall short by 1 run.....I think this unknown factor will only help the Indians cause and provide them with a much easier win in todays game..

"BIG GAME PLAY"--UNDERDOG GAME OF THE WEEK on:

    LA +107 (EZ 10-0 WINNER!)

-Ok, I liked this one early on, but needed to review some things before I got on it.....I am going to go against Zona in their next game following a good Offensive performance backing up the Big Unit on the hill.....This is what I did following the Units last game vs Florida, and won big as Webb was dismantled by the Fish 13-5....Like I stated, it seems that Zona always gets up to play when the Big Unit is on the hill, but then falls right back to sleep when he is done.....

Webb takes the hill for the DBacks today and he hasn't won a game since 4-27....In his last 5 starts, he is 0-3 with an 5.34 ERA and allowed at least 4 ER's in 3 of his last 5 games......In his last game vs Florida, I stated that it would be his lack of control, giving up many walks, which will give the Fish who knows how to advance runners on base via stealing, an advantage and more opportunities to score runs .....

Well, Webb didn't dissappoint me in that one, as he gave up 5 walks.....Today, I have to see this lack of control by Webb and the Dodger's ability to move runners into scoring position via stolen base, which they rank 13th in the League in doing, having an advantage in getting more opportunities to produce runs.....

Webb this year has given up 33 Walks and this ranks him 2nd worst in the NL.....Also, on the road is where Webb struggles with his control....In his road games this year he has allowed these walk numbers: 4 walks, 5, 4, 1, 3, and 5 walks in his last game......Not Good!....He has though shown to be solid at times, but his lack of control has led to many more poor showing outweighing any good performances....Webb also is not one who seems to have the ability to bounce back the next game, following a bad one....This is clearly evident in his record where it shows that he suffers multiple losses before he gets another win.....Not Good!

Lima for LA is primarily a reliever, but he will get another shot at starting again tonight.....I usually don't follow relievers starting, because I feel that it is a whole new animal in itself.....But seeing as Lima has already made 3 starts this year and it has led his team to a 2-1 record when he started, gives me a little confidence in him taking the hill today.....I feel he will be able to do enough vs Zona's struggling Offense, until he gets some help from Mr Gagne to close it out.....

Some stats working against Zona in this one...

-Zona is ranked 3rd to last in OBP.
-Zona is 5th to last in the League in hitting %.
-Zona is ONLY hitting RHP's .214......LA hitting RHP's .271 at home vs them.
-Zona 3-7 in their last 10 games....Note: The Big Unit is responsible for getting 2 of them wins....

Now I know that the Dodger's are as well in a slump right now, but I feel that they will have an advantage against Webb, because of his lack of control.....The Dodger's should get guys on base via walks, if they continue to struggle at the plate....Overall though, between the two teams, the Dodger's are a better hitting squad and have a better OBP than the DBack's, in addition to being at home and coming off a lost to Zona last night, gives them additional edges tonight....Their BP of late has also been playing better than Zona's is and this another important edge before Mr Gagne steps in....I see the Dodger's, with the help from Webb, doing enough to bounce back with a much needed win tonight.....Go Dodger's!

*This was another perfectly capped out Big Game Play Winner!......Here is Arizona's losing Pitcher B Webb's final stats: he went 4 innings, allowed 8 hits, 4 ERs, gave up 2 Walks, got 4 K's, and gave up 1 HR.....End result, LA wins EZ 10-0.

"BIG GAME PLAY"--TOTAL'S GAME OF THE MONTH on:

    KC/METS UNDER 9 -120 (EZ WINNER)

-Ok , I am not a really big Over/Unders capper, but when I saw this number put out on the KC/Mets game.....I had to jump all over it immediately.....This number is way to high for this pitching matchups and for these two Offensively struggling teams....Below is a few stats and trends to why I feel this is a Solid play on the UNDER....

These two pitchers are very Solid as they come....Glavine for the Mets is having a Superb year w/ a record of 6-3 and has a solid 2.21 ERA.......His opponent in KC's Greinke is an up and coming young star who is also pitching superbly on the hill so far this year.....In his first 4 starts in the Majors this year, he has posted a 1-1 record, but with a 1.73 ERA....AWESOME!....

Last year Greinke was named the Minors Best Player winning Player of the Year honors......This year, he is definately showing that he belongs in the Majors and he will be a force to be reckoned with in games, not years to come.....

Greinke's last start vs Montreal ended in a dominant win for this youngster as he allowed ONLY 3 hits, NO RUNS, got 5 K's, and allowed no Walks, in 7 innings.....Solid!....In his 3 previous games, he also pitched solidly...Vs Detriot, the #1 hitting % team, #1 team in total hits, and #4 ranked team in runs scored, he held them to 6 hits and just 2 runs.....Vs the Twins(AL Central Leader), the #17 ranked hitting % team, #14 in total hits, and #17 ranked team in runs scored, he held them to 7 hits and ONLY 1 run.....Vs the A's(AL West Leader), the #10 ranked hitting % team, #3 in total hits, and #10 ranked team in runs scored, he held them to just 5 hits and just 2 runs....OUTSTANDING!......In total vs these solid teams, Greinke's pitched 19 innings, giving up ONLY 5 runs....

Glavine for the Mets is the veteran and former CY Young Award Winner, who isnt showing any signs of an aging veteran.....He as well has been very dominant to opposing batters this year as his ERA of 2.21 in 13 starts can atest to.....This year, he also has 3 shutout games going 2-1......He has also posted two 1 run games, four 2 run games, two 3 run games, and just has two 4 run games.....Glavine this year has not had any games that he has given up more than 4 runs, and no games that he has gone less than 6 innings on the hill.....SOLID!

Ok, that should cover the first part (the pitchers), in backing this Under play.....Now here are the stats of both teams Offenses which back the Under play as well.....The Mets are ranked 2nd to last in the League in hitting % at .247 overall.....KC is ranked 4th to last in the League in hitting % at .260 overall....The Mets ranks 4th to last in the League in run production this year.....KC also is poor, ranking 5th to last in the League in run production on the year....In total hits overall on the year, the Mets rank 5th to last, but KC is worst ranking 4th to last in the League in total hits overall.....Lastly, the Mets are 5th to last in OBP in the League and the Royals are 4th to last in OBP.....Based on these poor Offensive stats for both teams, the Under looks like the way to go...

Other stats, trends, and information backing the Under play:

-The Mets are currently in their worst losing streak of the season...
-Glavine's approach(gameplan) to getting wins in each start is to allow 3 runs or less.....So far on the year, Glavine has not allowed more than 4 runs...
-In the 17 games between the two pitchers(Glavine & Greinke) they have given up just 8 HRs.
-Only 3 out of 13 games which Glavine started has ended with a run total over 9....2 out of 13 games ended in 9 runs.....and 8 out of 13 games ended Under 9 runs....
-In Glavine's 8 starts on the road, 6 of them ended Under 9 runs.....1 game over 9 runs, and 1 game ended with 9 runs scored....
-Glavine as a Favorite this season has a 1.55 ERA.
-Greinke as a Home Dog this year has an 1.29 ERA.
-The UNDER is 12-5-1 in the Mets last 18 games overall....
-The UNDER is 3-0 in Greinke's last 3 starts...
-The UNDER is 19-7-3 in KC's last 29 games overall....
-KC only hitting LHP's .236 in their last 10 games.....Mets only hitting RHP's .252 in their last 10 games overall, and .241 on the road vs them.

In conclusion, with both teams struggling on Offense at the plate, and both with their best pitchers on the hill today, it points all in the direction of a very tight and very low scoring game between the two....Runs in this one should definately be hard to come by.....Play the UNDER as a BIG GAME PLAY!

"BIG GAME PLAY"--COLLEGE WORLD SERIES PLAY on:

South Carolina -130 (EZ 15-4 WINNER)

-The Gamecocks are the SEC Champs with a record of 50-15, and ranks 3rd in the Nation overall.....This Gamecock team is coming off of a shutout loss to the Titans of Fullerton State, who is led by the All-American Catcher and local Hawaiian product, Kirk Suzuki.....and oh yeah, that so-so pitcher Jason Windsor....lol..(jk)....Them two proved to be a deadly balanced combination that totally shut down this potent Offense of the Gamecocks on Saturday...

But, today's game vs LSU is a totally different story altogether....The Gamecocks as I mentioned, is a really potent Offensive team at the plate....In fact, this Gamecock team is loaded with Talent as 7 players on the rooster has been taken in the First 12 rounds of this years MLB Draft....

This Gamecock Offense can stroke the ball Long BIG TIME....They field the most potent lineup in the CWS and lead the Nation with 102 HRs, and also have 4 players in the lineup with at least 14 HRs and 50 RBI's...The Gamecocks before Saturdays shutout, have been averaging 7 runs a game.....OUTSTANDING!

The Gamecocks though does not only rely on its Offense to win games for them.....Nope, this Gamecock team is also a very solid balanced team at the plate and on the hill.....In fact, besides their potent Offense, SC brings to this years World Series Tournament probably the Best 4 starting Pitchers....This past Saturday, we got to see one of them in Campbell who was drafted in the first round by KC....Today they more than likely will send the No. 2 Starter Aaron Rawls to the hill, who was a strikeout artist on the mound this year....Or we might see the No. 3 Starting Pitcher in Billy Buckner, who also posted solid numbers and it got him drafted in the second round this year.....Whichever of them start today won't matter for me, as both of them are equally solid....In fact here are their numbers......

SP -- Aaron Rawl (12-4, 4.29 ERA with 93 strikeouts and 16 walks in 115 innings)
SP -- Billy Buckner (6-2, 3.16 ERA)...I dont have more of Buckners numbers because of time out with illness, but like I mentioned, he was selected in the 2nd Rd of the Draft...

Helping to provide the Gamecocks with even more balance today, is their nasty ass bullpen led by the Nation's leader in Saves, Chad Blackwell...Here is Chad's numbers on the year...

    RP -- Chad Blackwell (4-3, 2.79 ERA with 19 saves, 74 strikeouts and 13 walks in 58 innings)...Solid!

-LSU also possesses a very potent Offense as well....and they like SC has 7 players in the lineup whose batting average is over .300...In fact, the Tigers have a .333 team batting average and that ties them with Fullerton for Tops in the CWS...Still, LSU's weakness is not at the plate, but at the hill where their pitchers are average and many times inconsistant...Also another weakness for them, and another advantage for the Gamecocks today is that the Tiger's bullpen lacks any depth in order to confidently protect a lead or hold off surging Offenses, as evident with their lack of support in the Miami game after starter Bumstead was pulled early....Because of this lack of quality depth in the BP for LSU, they have to leave their average starters in the game much longer than they should...Not good, against an Offensive power like the Gamecocks....

In Saturday's game vs the Hurricanes of Miami, Bumstead who started for LSU's Ace Lane Mestepey, ONLY lasted 2 innings, giving up 5 runs and 8 hits....The reserve pitchers were not able to hold off Miami and gave up 4 more runs leading to a 9-5 loss, after leading twice early 3-0 and 5-3....Not good!....Today, I am not sure who will take the hill for LSU, as Starter Lane Mestepey who was replaced by Bumstead on Saturday, may still be unable to go due to a shoulder injury he suffered while celebrating in a Tiger pileup following their Super Regional Game and win last week....LSU's Coach Laval, was stated as saying that Bumstead might be available for Monday's games.....If so, he wont find it any easier at all facing this potent Lineup that the Gamecocks will let lose on him.....Miami was able to get two long jacks off of the Tigers pitchers....Today definately doesnt look good for whomever pitches for the Tigers, as again, the Gamecocks are the Best in the Land with 102 HRs on the year....Oh Boy!

These are the numbers for the LSU Tigers Starting Pitchers:

    SP -- Nate Bumstead (10-3, 3.59 ERA)
    SP -- Lane Mestepey (7-3, 3.43)
    SP -- Justin Meier (6-2, 3.75)
RP -- Jason Determann (6-4, 3.93, one save)

*In conclusion, I feel that better balance today will be the Key to getting the win for the Gamecocks over the Tigers....Gamecocks have the advantage on the mound, at the plate, and in the Pen....LSU can only match them on Offense....But as evident from LSU's lost to Miami on Saturday, Offense without a solid defense starting with the guy on the hill is not enough, especially against a fully loaded talented team like the Gamecocks possess...Another advantage for the Gamecocks today, and one which many may overlook, is the fact that the Gamecocks also have the most experience in this tournament, playing more games in the last two years then any other team in this field....SC's Tournament experience, SC's depth on the hill, SC's explosiveness at the plate, and SC's leadership behind the plate from their Stud Catcher, and #1 draft pick of the Oakland A's, Landon Powell, should prove to be to much for the scrappy Tigers from LSU....Take the Gamecocks as a BIG GAME PLAY!

    *PROBABLE STARTING LINEUPS:

    -South Carolina Gamecocks:

SS -- Steven Tolleson (.320 AVG, 3 HR, 23 RBI)
    3B -- Bryan Triplett (.274, 7, 35)
    1B -- Steve Pearce (.327, 20, 65)
    C -- Landon Powell (.332, 19, 65)
    2B -- Kevin Melillo (.304, 9, 35)
    RF -- Brendan Winn (.310, 18, 64)
    LF -- Michael Campbell (.315, 14, 50)
    DH -- Ryan Mahoney (.257, 2, 14)
    CF -- Davy Gregg (.322, 0, 24)

    SP -- Matt Campbell (10-4, 2.88 ERA)
    SP -- Aaron Rawl (12-4, 4.29)
    SP -- Billy Buckner (6-2, 3.16)
    RP -- Chad Blackwell (4-3, 2.79, 19 saves)

    LSU Tigers:-

    CF -- J.C. Holt (.390 AVG, 6 HR, 51 RBI)
    LF -- Ryan Patterson (.340, 14, 64)
    C -- Matt Liuzza (.330, 9, 45)
    RF -- Jon Zeringue (.387, 12, 55)
    DH -- Nick Stavinoha (.335, 8, 42)
    3B -- Clay Harris (.295, 7, 51)
    2B -- Ivan Naccarata (.277, 5, 33)
    1B -- Will Harris (.329, 7, 39)
    SS -- Blake Gill (.344, 5, 41)

    SP -- Nate Bumstead (10-3, 3.59 ERA)
    SP -- Lane Mestepey (7-3, 3.43)
    SP -- Justin Meier (6-2, 3.75)
RP -- Jason Determann (6-4, 3.93, one save)

"BIG GAME PLAY-UNDERDOG GAME OF THE MONTH on:

Tampa Bay D-Rays +114 (EZ 10-2 BLOWOUT WINNER!)

-When your Hot your Hot.....and when your not, your not.....Well this Tampa Bay squad is freakin Smoking Hot....And although they lost last night to Florida, they did win the series vs the Defending World Champions.....Plus, last night they were facing a Smoking Hot Pitcher in Pavano who btw has a Smokin Hot Girl(Milano) who is simply lighting his Fire Big Time....TB faced a monster on the hill last night, who is on a roll, but that lost I feel will do more for this TB squad in todays game and play right into the sikee needed to get this one Big Time...

Today, TB faces off against the Toronto BJays and their Ace and last years Cy Young Award Winner Roy Halladay....I like TB today to get a solid win, and back to their winning ways.....Heres what and why, I like them....

TB's Zambrano and BJay's Halladay faced off in the Skydome on June 23 , with the BJays getting the win by a low score of 2-1, but a No Decision for both Zambrano and Halladay....In that game, both pitchers had excellent days with both giving up just one run each.....Halladay went went 8 innings allowing just 5 hits and getting 8 K's.....Zambrano lasted 7 innings in that one while ONLY giving up 4 hits total...Ok that was in Toronto and now this one is in Tampa, and things should work in favor of the D-Rays here....

One of those things that I see working in TB's favor is the fact that Halladay, though a solid pitcher, has not fared well on the road this year....posting a poor 1-4 road record with a 4.00 ERA to boot.....In his last 3 road games, he has given up 20 hits, 15 runs (5 runs in each game), 10 walks, in just a little over 17 innings on the hill....Not Good!

Zambrano, on the other hand, is an animal at home posting a Solid 6-1 record at home this year with an ERA of 3.31.....In his last 3 starts at home, he went 3-0 and allowed ONLY 10 hits, ONLY 2 runs, in just a little over 19 innings on the hill.....OUTSTANDING!....Based on these figures and performances, it clear to see that Zambrano has the edge at home over Halladay on the road....

Now, another advantage that I want to mention which favors TB today is the fact that Halladay though he has one of the lower ERA's in the AL, he also gives up a high amount of hits as well.....In fact, Halladay on the year has pitched a total of 96 innings and have given up 94 hits so far....On the road this total is 47 innings and 46 hits given up....

Zambrano, on the other hand, is the AL's leader in Walks given up....Still, he makes up for this by ranking 4th in the League in Strike Outs with 84 K's...and as far as giving up hits, Zambrano overall this year in 90 innings on the hill, has ONLY given up 76 hits....At home he gave up just 35 hits in a little over 47 innings on the hill....SOLID!

So eventhough, Zambrano gives up a lot of walks, the fact that he gets a hell of a lot of K's and gives up very little in hits, plus the fact that the BJays are in the lower half of the League in hitting and also rank 2nd to last in SB w/ only 22 successful attempts this year, gives me nothing so much to worry about with his high tendency to allow walks....His ability to control hitters at the plate and the BJays inability to take advantage of his weakness while at the plate and on base gives TB and Zambrano an advantage here...

Next, this situation or asset is one that is vastly overlooked and very undervalued by many handicappers but not me...This asset, is the ability of a team to move runners on base via Stolen Bases....This can be a very effective weapon for teams with a lot of speed like TB has, and as well for teams who is not a power hitting team like the DRays....This type of aggressive base running get more players on base into scoring position, and thus allowing teams like TB more opportunities to set them up to score more runs, or at least an opportunity to get runs period....Having the ability to play this type of aggressive ball allows TB to not have to fully depend on getting a lot of hits from its guys at the plate, in order to move runners.....Also, having this ability to steal a lot, helps to put opposing pitchers on the defensive and working on the hill double time....Instead of having to worry about the guy at the plate, they must now also worry about the guy on the base....This in effect can help out the hitter at the plate by allowing him to get more hittable or bad pitches which would help teams who are especially struggling at the plate....So far this year, TB has used this to their advantage many times and allows them to always be a threat to opposing teams when they have someone on base....TB in this very undervalued catergory is ranked 3rd Best in the League in Stolen Bases with 62 on the year...

How is this going to help get a win for TB....Well, I cant guarantee having the ability to steal second or third for that matter will get a team a win, but it will help them in giving them more opportunities to get runs in off of hits and maybe even possible throwing errors, instead of primarily depending on the guy at the plate to bring me in....The more opportunities a team gets to score, the more chances they have to win...This is Lou Piniella ball, and he is not just a master of motivation, but a master at playing aggressive ball and always keeping the pressure on their opponents at all times...

With this style of ball playing by TB and their ability to exploit it when they are on base....and the fact that Halladay has a tendency to give up a lot of hits allowing base runners to get on base....I have to say that one, it will play right into the hands of this TB Offense, and Two it will allow them more opportunities to score especially because Halladay is still one of the Best on the hill....I like it also that Halladay struggles on the road as well, and today in this ballpark, it will be very hostile place for him to have to pitch in.....

*Other stats, insights, and info that favor Tampa Bay in this one:

-Toronto is just 2-6 in their last 8 games on the road...
-Toronto is 1-4 in Halladay's last 5 games on the road...
-TB is 6-1 in Zambrano's last 7 starts...
-TB is 15-2 in their last 17 overall...
-Halladay in his last 3 starts has an ERA of 4.00...
-Zambrano in his last 3 starts has an ERA of 2.21...
-TB's BP is also pitching well...In their last 3 games they have a combined ERA of 3.49 in 59 innings...
-Toronto's BP combined in their last 3 games has a ERA of 6.52 in ONLY 29 innings...
-TB will have a lot of motivation on their side today as they will be facing Halladay, and looking to get Revenge, as he and Toronto ended their 12 game win streak....
-Tampa's house will be Rockin tonight and energies and motivations will be high as they welcome last years Cy Young Winner...and look for payback...
-TB should be fully focused after suffering a loss yesterday to Florida....But taking the series from the Defending World Champs should do a lot to further their confidence...
-TB is at home, while Toronto had a long trip to Florida....
-TB should be motivated to get back above .500 after they became the first team in Major League history to get above .500 after being below it by 18 games...I am thinking that they want to show it was no fluke...
-Toronto will be without its Top 3 hitters again in the lineup...in Carlos Delgado, Vernon Wells, and Frank Catalanotto...
-TB's first baseman Tino Martinez is expected to return to the lineup today...and this is very good news for TB..as he is batting .281 and also leads the DRays in HR's with 12 on the year...
-Lastly, Toronto has lost 13 of 24 games this month...
-Zambrano is the Yankee Killer as he beat the Evil Empire Twice this year...

**Ok Gang.....This was another perfectly capped out BIG GAME PLAY-WINNER...Like I have always mentioned, when it comes to my BIG GAME PLAYS in All Major Sports Combined, they are simply Second to None....The proof of this is in the pudding....This is just another example of another Huge BIG GAME PLAY-EZ WINNER....Hope you All got some of this.....Stay tuned for more BIG GAME PLAY-WINNERS on the horizon.....Lets get more, and LETS GO GET EM!....ALOHA CC.

"BIG GAME PLAY"--GAME OF THE MONTH on:

    Florida -112 (EZ 6-4 WINNER!)

Florida is getting the job done this year behind their solid starting pitchers...One of them, in Burnett has been more of the dominant of late, as he is 2-0 in his last 3 games with a solid 2.25 ERA, striking out 21, allowing just 16 hits, 6 runs, and walking only 8, in alittle over 24 innings pitched...

Wolf, on the other hand, in his last 3 games, has averaged 6 innings, and has a ERA of 7.00, giving up 14 runs, on 23 hits, in just 18 innings...And the Philly's ended going 1-2 during this span..

In their last 3 game series at Florida, earlier this month, Florida outscored them 13 to 6 taking two of three....Burnett, in this series, went the distance allowing just 8 hits, 2 Philly runs, while not giving up a walk......Wolf, started against Burnett, lasting just 6 innings, where he allowed 7 hits, 5 ERs, and walking 2 in the Phils 8-2 loss....In this earlier series with the Phillies, the Marlins totaled 11 hits, 3 which were HR's...and 2 of which came off of Wolf..

Burnett lifetime vs the Phils has a 3-4 record with an ERA of 3.68....While Wolf has a TERRIBLE lifetime record of 2-11 vs the Marlins with an ERA of 5.86... And, he also is 0-4 vs the Marlins at Home the last 3 seasons....Can you say "Dead Meat Pitching"?...LOL.

One weakness of the Phillies, compared to the Marlins, is definately in their pitching staff...Currently, the Phillies, although tied for 6th with the fewest walks given up on the year...they are also ranked 6th from the bottom in overall ERA....And, they also are ranked 4th in the Majors, with most hits given up...Florida's pitching staff, meanwhile, is the best in the league with the lowest overall ERA of 2.25....and also ranked 1st with a WHIP of 1.10, 1st in least hits allowed, 7th in strikeouts, and 13th in walks allowed....Solid!

If, opponents get to the Phillies starters, then their BP is not a good place to look for relief, as they have an overall ERA of 6.02, and a poorer ERA of 7.36 at Home...giving up 38 hits, 24 ERs, and 9 HRs in alittle over 29 innings pitched...The also have a 1-2 record at Home with 2 blown saves, also at Home, and 5 total blown saves overall...And, they are allowing opponents to average .288 vs them....Not Good!

Florida's obvious strength is in their starting rotation who has the ability to go deep in the game...In fact, Burnett's last Road start he went the distance, allowing just 2 runs, on 4 hits, and 1 HR...getting the 5-2 win over Glavine and the Mets, and preventing them getting swept in the process...Florida's BP, if needed, has been solid this year posting an overall ERA of 1.86 in over 53 innings....On the Road this year, they have only given up 5 walks, 13 hits, and 6 ERs, in alittle over 14 innings....And, in their last 3 games, they have been even more sharp posting an 1.27 ERA in over 21 innings on the hill.

Still, one main reason for Florida's 1st place standing in the NL East...is due to their strength on the hill...and their right-hander AJ Burnett is a big piece to their success...Burnett has already thrown two complete games on the year so far, and has not allowed more than two earned runs in any of his starts this year...The result when Burnett started this year is a 3-1 record so far.

However, the Marlins this year is not a team, like some in the past, who simply rely on only there pitching staff to get them a win...No, this Florida team has also been doing it in the field where they have been playing solid defense, only committing 12 fielding errors over their 20 games played and helping to hold opponents to just 2.6 rpg average overall and 3.3 rpg on the road....In addition, Florida's offense at the plate has also been supporting their pitchers on the hill, especially in Road games, averaging 5.3 rpg on the Road...Solid Support!

Today, I see the Marlins lineup again being able to support starter Burnett, as they will be facing the Phillies Wolf again, who remember is 2-11 vs them in his career (no big league team has beaten him more often), who already got spanked on April 12th giving up 5 runs (2 HRs) on hits..and who is also a LHP as well...This year, the Marlins have been ripping LHP's averaging .328 batting overall against them....Florida also averages hitting .341 vs LHP's, on the Road...and .310 vs LHP's in their last 10 games against them....Remember back on April 12th, Wolf got tagged for two HRs and 5 runs total on just 7 hits vs the Florida lineup....Oh Boy, can you say Deja Vu?...LOL.

Phillys hitters will face a RHP in Burnett today...where they are averaging .260 overall and at Home...But, vs RHP's, in their last 10 games vs them, they are ONLY averaging a LOW .225 at the plate....Furthermore, Philly this year is just 2-4 vs RHP's at Home...Definately not a good sign, because Burnett is not just any RHP taking the mound today...and this Florida team is not just any other opponent, as the Marlin's are hitting .303, lifetime, against the Phillies Wolf....Oooooh Boooy!

-Some Other Stats, Trends, and Info I like favoring the Marlins today.....

-Florida is 8-2 in Burnett's last 10 starts.
-Florida is 4-1 in their last 5 Road games.
-Florida is 27-14 vs Philly the last 3 seasons....and currently 2-1 vs them this year.
-Florida has currently won 3 of their last 4 games...and they also have Won their last 4 Road games as well.
-Florida on the Road this year is averaging 5.3 rpg, while they hold the host opponents to just a 3.3 rpg average
-Florida vs LHP's have an OBP of .346
-Florida is 6-2 in opening game of series....Philly is 4-4 in first game.
-Florida Team is well rested, as they didnt not play since last week Tuesday.
-Florida leads the majors in ERA (2.25), shutouts (4), hits allowed (139), runs allowed (53), opponents batting average (.215) and complete games (5).

-Philly is 0-3 in games played on Friday....Florida is 2-1 in Friday games.
-Philly is 0-2 when playing with a day off.
-Philly is 4-8 in Night games.....Florida is 7-5 in Night games this year.
-Philly is 10-12 in games played on Grass.....Florida is 12-8 when playing on Grass.
-Philly took 2 of 3 from the Nationals on the Road, but they still have lost 4 of their last 6 games.
-Philly in their last 5 games are ONLY averaging 2 rpg...while opponents have averaged Over 4 rpg.
-Philly at Home this year is 5-5 averaging 4.2 rpg and hitting .252 at the plate.
-Philly in their last 10 games is hitting just .231 overall...but Vs RHP's, in their this span, they are hitting a LOW of .225.

Burnett is coming off a solid game vs Cincy on Friday, which he gave up 2 runs and 4 hits, while posting a season-high 13 strike-outs over 6 innings in Florida's 4-2 win over the Reds....The Phillies, more than likely must play this one again without their best hitter in Burrell, who has an injured hamstring....How important is Burrell to this Philly team, well he currently leads them in batting average, hitting .304 overall (.314 at Home), in HR's with 5, and in RBI's with 20 on the year, which is 10 more than Jim Thome, who is 2nd in RBI's..Burrell is a Big important Offensive Asset for the Phillies and for him not to be able to play, only gives the Marlins more of an advantage, especially with the Phil's other sluggers in Thome (.205), Lieberthal (.215), and Bell (.221), not having their best year so far at the plate.

However, if Burrell does somehow step in to play today, I dont expect him to be 100%...And, it should be noted also that previous to his injury, which forced him to sit out since Monday, he was in the midst of a very bad hitting slump, with just 4 hits in his last 28 at bats...In fact, this funk was bad enough to cause his average to drop by more than 100 points..So, even if he plays today..I am thinking that he wont be out of this funk and that his injury which I dont think is fully healed yet, to only cause him to continue his slump at the plate....Well, with Burnett on the hill and pitching as solid as he has been this year, I definately give him the edge over Burrell, who so far this year has had 4 at bats vs him, registering one hit..

The Marlins currently have won seven of their last nine games, and went 8-2 their last 10 with Burnett starting...Plus, the Marlins solid play oveall and on the Road, as well as, their dominating pitchers and excellent defensive and offensive support they have been providing them....not to mention, the lifetime success the Fish has had over the Philly's Wolf, makes me all the more confident that they will continue on to record their 13th win on the year, 5th on the Road, 3rd against the Phillies, and 4th for starter Burnett today...Solid pitching from start to finish for the Marlins, is what has brought them success this year...but for this Marlin team, thats not where it has stopped and where they have allowed themselves to depend upon...Balance is always Key to success, and right now...the Marlins clearly have it in their favor today....With that said, take the FLORIDA MARLINS -112 as a "BIG GAME PLAY"--GAME OF THE MONTH selection....GL and LETS GO GET EM!....ALOHA CC.

"BIG GAME PLAY"--GAME OF THE WEEK:

CHICAGO WSOX -126 (EZ 10-7 WINNER!)

Today, the Major League leading CWS face the B-Jays of Toronto in GM 2 of their 3 game series in Toronto....Leading the way for the 22-7 CWS is Jon Garland, a righty who has been practically unhittable in his last 5 starts, where he has gone 5-0 and has a 1.38 ERA overall...Today's game is on the Road, where Garland is 3-0 with a 1.57 ERA....In his last 3 games pitched, Garland went 3-0 and has a Unbelievable .35 ERA....WOW!

Garland is part of this shutdown CWS pitching staff whose starters so far this year has a 17-3 record and a Major League best 2.79 ERA....The CWS pitching staff also is ranked 2nd in hits allowed overall...2nd in WHIP with a 1.16 avg...and also their BP ranks 1st in the league with 14 saves so far on the year...This solid shutdown pitching from the WS starters has allowed them to hold a lead in all of their 29 games played this year....Unreal!

Garland, in his 5 games, has allowed just 6 ERs, 25 hits, 6 walks, 1 HR, and striked out 17 batter, in alittle over 39 innings on the hill...Garland currently is coming into this game with 23 consecutive scoreless innings...Including pitching back to back 4 hitters, that includes an 8-0 win over Detriot and a 6-0 win over Oaktown...Vs Toronto Garland has a lifetime 5-1 record with an 2.63 ERA against them...and the CWS went 6-2 in his last 8 starts vs the B-Jays..

The B-Jays sends RHP Lilly to the hill today to face Garland and the Hot CWS team....So far this year he has a record of 1-2 in his 5 starts, with an ERA of 7.77...In Lilly's last 3 starts, he has gone 1-1 and his ERA has gone to a Whopping 10.68 over this span...In just 24 innings on the hill this year, Lilly has allowed 34 hits and 21 ERs..and hasnt gone past 4 innings yets this year...Not Good!...Vs the CWS in his career, he has a 3-1 record with a 6.03 ERA, and his team has gone 5-1 when he started against them...Still, it is in his last 3 starts of late Lilly has totally lit up and his whopping ERA of 10.67 clearly shows this...In his last start against the struggling Yankees, he was smacked for 6 ERs on 8 hits in 5 innings on the hill.....Toronto, however ended up winning there last two games which he started in..

Lilly was said to have missed most of spring training with tendinitis in his shoulder...and that is why he has not gone deep into a game, which the coaching staff of Toronto fell he can...I totally disagree with that...Lilly, I feel was good at one time in his young career, but like most athletes after they suffer an injury, they simply are not the same after that...Lilly to me so far, is going downhill not up...and his numbers vs teams also on the decline proves this...

Garland, on the other hand, along with his other pitching mates has been almost a gang of resurrected players...What gives the CWS an advantage here is that Garland has and can go deep into the game...which have been paying off alot of divendends for them achieving what they have so far and so fast this year...Also helping to secure and close out games securing wins for them...has been the solid play of the WSox's BP...In their last 3 games their BP has an ERA of 1.69...Whereas, the B-Jays BP their last 3 games has an ERA of 4.15...CWS BP on the Road has been getting it done as well..as they have a 2.23 Road ERA and has also recorded 6 saves to just 2 blown saves...In total, the WSox's BP has a recorded 14 saves on the year with only 3 blown save...and this total saves rank them 1st in the Majors...Toronto's BP cant say the same for them with their 5.13 Home ERA, while also only recording 2 saves at Home while blowing 3...If this one goes to the BP early, as I expect it to today...it could end in a romp as this Toronto BP has allowed a high 48 hits in just 36.3 innings....Not good vs this WSox teeam who may have found their stroke of late...

The WSox's will face another LHP in Lilly, where they have found alot of success against this year going 5-3...and averaging 5.2 rpg vs them....This stat goes well also because the WSox's are on the Road where they have also averaged 5 rpg...while their defense has been able to hold opponents to just 3.3 rpg and .222 hitting at the plate...Some other stats for the WSox's vs LHPs is that they are hitting .293 Overall vs them.....290 in Road games vs them, and are averaging their highest average of .299 vs LHPs in their last 10 games played....Toronto vs RHP's have averaged .268 overall vs them, .272 at Home and in their last 10 games vs RHPs..

Toronto has the overall higher batting average than the WSox's...and they also have scored 11 more runs, 12 more RBI's, and 38 more hits than the WSox's hitters totaled so far this year....But, it is their pitching and inability to close out games, especially at Home where they are only 5-6 on the year...that will be their achilles heal of late....Still, Toronto in Lilly's last two games has still be able to overcome his poor starts to come back a get wins over the Yankees and TB...In these two last starts of Lilly...he went only 11 innings combined, giving up 17 hits, 11 ERs, and 3 HRs...but the B-Jays were still able to pull out wins of 7 to 5 and 8 to 6....Well, I dont expect that to happen again vs this WSox team, and especially if Lilly gets lit up again, allowing a shit load of runs early in the game...which I do see him doing again..

Why shouldnt I expect this one to be another slug fest like the other two games where Lilly started? Because, that was the WSox's of the past, not the one of the present...Plus, I feel that both of these teams are heading in the opposite directions..as Toronto looks to be heading back into a slump, after they went on a tear winning 7 out of 8 games, before this current two game slide of late...A sign that this maybe happening is their lack of offense at the plate, only scoring just 4 runs in their last 3 games...And yesterday, the B-Jays could only manage just 3 hits over the final 7 innings, and a total of 17 hits and 4 runs in their last 3 games played....

The CWS, on the other hand, has gone through times of struggles at the plate with some of their players who are very important to their offense...ie, Konerko who was hitless in his last 26 at bats, before ending that last night with an 8th inning single....And Pierzynski, who entered 2 for 29, before hitting a 2 run go ahead single which scoring two to take the 5-3 lead and win...Also, in last nights game everyone in the lineup, except DH Everett recorded one hit last night...All this following their last 2-1 win over KC where they only had 2 hits total..

The main reason for why the WSox's could still keep the wins coming in and also in very close fashion, where they won12 of 15 one run games they played...is due to the WSox's putting more emphasis on other aspects of the game instead of just at the plate...They put emphasis on their pitching, they are utilizing their speed on the bases where they have stolen 30 bases this year, which ranks 2nd in the Majors...19 of these Stolen bases have come in Road games, 3 of them came in last nights game... The WSox's are playing more fundamentals, situational-type of games...and doing all the little stuff, along with their very good pitching...has helped them to win games in many different ways for them..

But, the WSox's are still one of the top longball hitting teams just like the past years...and currently rank 10th in the league in total HRs so far this year...Timo Perez gets the start tonight for CF Rowand...and the WSox's are 8-1 when he is in the starting lineup.

*SOME STATS, TRENDS, AND INFO FAVORING THE WSOX'S TONIGHT:

-CWS is 6-0 vs teams with winning records.
-CWS is 5-0 so far this month.
-CWS is 4-0 in games played on Saturdays
-CWS is 8-3 in games played in the day
-CWS is 8-1 after 3 or more consecutive wins.
-CWS is 11-4 on the Road.
-CWS is 3-1 on Artificial turf.
-CWS is 10-4 when game total is 9-9.5
    -CWS is 5-3 vs LHPs.
-CWS also have stolen 19 bases in their 15 games on the Road.
-CWS is 8-1 in game 2 of series.
-CWS BP recorded 14 saves and just 3 BSV...On the Road the BP has 6 saves to just 2 BSV.

-Toronto is 3-6 when playing a team with a winning record.
-Toronto's BP at Home has recorded just 2 saves and blown 3 saves.

I simply cannot go against this CWS team right now, as they continue to get it done with their speed, defense, and solid pitching...On the Road CWS defense is holding opponents to just 3.3 rpg and .222 average hitting at the plate...Toronto, meanwhile is not so tight, to vistors, as they allow an average of 5.8 rpg and .293 average at the plate...The CWS, pitching has led them to record an AL-leading 2.94 ERA...And their new aggressive style of play on the bases, has allowed them to win games and rank 2nd in SB's on the year with 30...All three aspects has helped them to win games like yesterdays 5-3 victory, where they two of their offensive weapons in Konerko and Pierzynski has broken out of their bad slumps to help get last nights win...Add in the WSox's offense providing support to their solid pitching staff and you got one team who can go very far....They already have the leagues best Record of 22-7, but this WSox team is lacking the notiriety and respect that they feel they deserve, which the last place Yankees and Boston Red Sox are getting, and this just adds more fuel to their fire to keep things rolling strong...

These are the new WSox's who are not doing it like the old WSox use to do..but their new style of ball is working so why buck it...Pitching, Defense, aggressive base running, small ball, and playing with a chip on their shoulder for lack of respect, is what makes them go...WSox's have now led in all 29 games so far this season...Unreal...Tonight behind Garland, they will record win 23 and also get one game closer to paying back this B-Jay team who swept them in Toronto last season.....Today, take the CHICAGO WSOX -126 as a "BIG GAME PLAY"--GAME OF THE WEEK selection....GL and Aloha CC.

              *"BGP" UPDATE FOR WILD WEDS:

-This was the "BGP"-GOM and indepth Write-Up & Big Game Analysis, I released today..

"BIG GAME PLAY"-SERIES GAME OF THE MONTH on:

              FLORIDA MARLINS -163 (WINNER!)

After the Astros got the win on Monday, which btw was entirely due to the Rockets shutdown performance on the mound, I stated that this would turn out to be Houston's easiest task in this series, believe it or not....Why did I feel so confident in this?...Well, for one, it is very hard for any team to win back to back games on the road, let alone, a the Astros who are in a very terrible slump, and who have only been able to win 1 game, in 15 attempts, away from Minute Maid Field previous to Monday's win...Secondly, Houston just doesn't have in their stable who is having a shutdown type of year as the Rocket is having, and which seems to be the only way that the Astros can squeak out a win....And lastly, because Houston still have to face the #1 pitcher in the league so far this year, in Florida's Dontrell Willis...Houston, in my opinion, was fortunate to get those two plays that allowed them to steal a run..which turned out to be enough for a win...The Rocket was lights out on the hill, but their woes on offense simply cannot even back him up at all...So it was a lucky break for them when Burnett threw a wild pitch, moving a runner into scoring position...which was followed by a blop single that scored a run...That was all the room the Rocket needed to have, to get that one safely anded to Houstons solid closer in Brad Lidge...In the 2nd game, the situations changed and outcome instead was due to the Astro's bullpen giving up 5 runs in the 8th inning, for a 6-2 loss.

Today, the situation and pitcher is different, but the ending of this series should still end in an unhappy way fro the Astros...In fact, this one has the makings of turning out to be another shutout slaughter, similar to the one Atllanta handed them on Sunday....Probably wont be as bad as that one was, but with the overwhelming Key Advantages working in the Marlins favor today....Houston could simply get their Asses Spanked just as bad in the end...Either way though, it will be these Key Advantages that the Marlins will have today, that will simply be to much for the Astros, to meet and try to beat, and that only spells one thing which they are very used to by now...Anyways, below are a few of these Key Advantages enjoyed by the Fish today..

KEY ADVANTAGE #1: Florida's Starting Pitcher Dontrelle Willis.

-If anyone this year in the Majors is having a better year then the Rocket is, per stats and also dominance over opposing hitters, it's Florida's Dontrell Willis...This Lefty is currently leading the Majors with an Amazingly Low ERA of 1.07 and a .857 WHIP, which is the 3rd best in the league....Besides this, Willis is also undefeated on the year with a 6-0 record in 8 starts overall.

-At Home Willis has been practically untouchable going 4-0, and has recorded an unfuckin-believable ERA and WHIP of .58 and .806....Unreal!....Overall on the year, Willis is holding opposing hitters to the 3rd lowest batting average of .189 vs him....And, in games he started at Home, opposing batters averages went down even more to .179 hitting against him...Solid!.

-In his total 8 starts on the year, Willis has allowed just 28 hits, 5 ERs, 8 walks, while striking out 35, and giving up just 2 HRs, in his 42 innings on the hill....In his 4 starts at Home, he has given up only 2 ERs and 19 hits in 31 innings pitched....And, in his last start at Home on May 6, Willis recorded a career high 10 strikeouts vs the Rockies, whose lineup is currently ranked 5th best in the league in batting average.

-Willis also leads the league this year, with 3 complete games pitched, and two shutouts which he earned in his first two starts on the year.

~Bottom line: (Advantage Florida) Willis looks like a wild Animal on the hill, which works to his in favor, especially because he also brings alot of different tricks to the his trade...He is a unique pitcher, with a very unique style of delivery...That unique delivery, add with an arsenal of different quality pitches to throw, is what makes him even more intimidating to batters at the plate, simply are having no success in getting his timing down...When hitters cant get this timing on opposing hitters down...That spells throuble for teams like Houston, whose already current struggles now becomes that much more difficult to overcome because of it...Thus, Dontrell should have his way again today...

              KEY ADVANTAGE # 2: Willis & Florida's Defense vs Houston's Pathetic Offensive.

-Florida's Defense has been stellar at Home, holding opponents to just 2.5 rpg average...Overall they are only allowing opps to average 3.1 rpg , .208 hitting at the plate, and .278 OBP at home.
-Houston is averaging only 2.9 rpg, .203 hitting at the plate, and just .264 OBP..
-Houston vs the 10 LHP's they faced this year went 2-8 vs them...averaging just 2.4 rpg, Only .196 hitting at the plate, and .264 OBP, against them.
-In these 10 games vs LHPs, the Astros have only been able to take them deep with 3 HRs, approx 6 hits per game vs them, and reaching base via walks just 3 times..
-Houston in their 17 Road games has only gone deep 6 times, has 44 total RBIs, 42 walks, and 101 hits (avg of 6.3 pg)
-Houston's lineup in their 17 road games has struck-out an average of 7.2 times per game...and they have only been able to get on base via walks an avg of 2.9 times per game...Plus, they have also only averaged just 7 hits per game.

Sidenote: Houston in their last 4 games has only been able to score 5 total runs...and they also currently are ranked last in the NL in Hits and HRs on the year so far

~Bottom Line: (Advantage Florida) Willis should be all the defense that Florida will need to get this win over Houston.

KEY ADVANTAGE # 3: Willis (ranked #1 in the Majors) Vs Oswalt (ranked 43rd in the Majors)

-Oswalt allowed 47 Hits, 22 ERs, 5 HRs, and 12 Walks on the year so far.....
-Willis has only allowed 28 Hits, 5 ERs, 2 HRs, and 8 Walks, in his 42 innings on the hill..
-Willis also has recorded 3 complete games to Oswalts 1...and he has 2 shutouts on the year to Oswalts none..
(ERA & OBA vs Righty and Lefty).
-Oswalt vs LHBs has an ERA of 5.95 and allows batters to average .250 hitting at the plate..
-Oswalt vs RHBs, has an ERA of 3.08 and allows batters to average .279 against him.
-Willis vs LHBs, has an ERA of 1.93...while allowing hitters to average just .176 at the plate
-Willis vs RHBs, has an ERA of just only .83...while allowing batters to average just .193 hitting against him.
-At Home, Willis only allowing batters to average .179 vs him, with an ERA of .58

Sidenote: Willis also will provide the Marlins another threat at the plate as he is a hitting pitcher, with a career batting average of .212....This year he also recorded 2 RBIs on 3 hits and has an average of .159...Oswalt's batting average is just .125 with no RBIs....In Tuesday's game, Dontrell was used in the DH role.

Willis also won his first 6 starts in total dominating fashion by strikingout 35, walking just 8, in alittle over 42 innings on the hill......Plus, he also leads the league with his 3 complete games pitched, and two shootouts he earne28d in his first two starts on the year.

~Bottom Line: (Advantage Florida) Willis will have much more support on offense than Oswalt can expect to get for his...Oswalt is a good pitcher, but his injury to his foot seems to still be causing him problems..and it showed in his last two outings, his last being the worst start of the season.

KEY ADVANTAGE # 4: Florida's Offense at the plate.

              -Florida is 12-9 vs RHPs...averaging 4.5 rpg, .265 hitting, and .344 OBP.
-Overall, the Marlins are averaging .270 hitting....but at Home they avg .280 at the plate and .348 OBP
-Florida is one of the top offensive team in league,..ie, 6th in hitting average..
-Houston, on the road, is allowing opponents to average 5.5 rpg and hit .276 at the plate.

Bottom Line: (Advantage Florida) No Clemens to shut them down..and Oswalt seems to have lost his touch after his foot injury, as he is coming into this game allowing an average of 10 hit per game in his last two starts..as well as, giving up 9 ERs in his last game against the Braves.

              KEY ADVANTAGE # 5: Florida's BP vs Houston's BP.

-First off, Florida's Willis leads the Majors with 3 complete games, and he could get his 4th today.
-Florida's BP overall has a ERA of 2.64 and 1.149 WHIP...but at Home their ERA is 1.07 and WHIP is .886...Solid!
-Florida's BP at Home has only given up 7 ERs in over 52.7 innings on the mound.
-Florida's BP is also 4-0 in save opportunities at Home this year.
-Houston's BP has a 0-6 record on the road and a ERA of 3.96.
-Houston's BP in the last 3 games, has a whopping ERA of 10.70 and a 2.15 WHIP.
-Houston's BP is 2-9 on the year overall....and has a 0-6 Road record, 0 saves and 3 blown saves.
-Houston's BP on the Road has a 4.04 ERA....Florida's BP at Home has a ERA of 1.13.

~Bottom Line: (Advantage Florida) After giving up 5 runs in the 8th inning and blowing that 2-1 lead they had, how in the hell can anyone trust these guys...Except for Closer Lidge, no one can be trusted in that Astros BP...Plus tonight, Lidge may not even get to smell the mound..and I dont him at all being called upon to close this game out...So theres no other way to go.

KEY ADVANTAGE # 6: Past Stats, Trends, and Info favoring Florida today..

-Florida is 12-6 in Night games.
              -Florida is 13-8 vs RHPs
-Florida is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in FL
              -Florida is 11-8 at Home.
-Florida's Willis is 22-6 lifetime before the All-Star break
-Florida's Willis has an arsenal of different things to throw at hitters....fastball, sinker, slider and changeup.

              -Houston is 2-15 on Road.
              -Houston is 3-7 in May.
-Houston is 12-20 in games played on Grass.
-Houston is 9-13 in Night games.
              -Houston is 2-8 vs LHPs
-Houston is 5-15 after a loss.
-Houston is 6-9 vs teams with winning records.
-Houston is Only hitting .141 on the Road vs LHPs
-Houston's BP last 3 games has a ERA of 10.70.

The Astro's continue to spirial downwards, and continue to play like a bunch of walking, talking, hitting wounded Zombies...sorry to say, but there seems to be no cure to snap them out of it...Well, there will be no cure for sure today against the Marlins Ace and #1 ranked Pitcher in the league, Dontrell "D-Train" Willis...I said earlier that this one, has all the signs of possibly turning into yet another embarrassing ass spanking to the Astros today, just like the Braves gave them on Sunday..

Remember Gang...last years Astro's team that went the deepest it has ever been in the playoffs..did it with a late season trade for Beltran, and the surge he created...Plus, they also had Jeff Kent, who btw is currently having a stellar season again, ranking 2nd in the NL in RBI's, 3rd in NL in HRs, 5th in NL in most walks, and 1st in NL in runs, so far on the year...However, those guys are all gone now...and joining them, is Houston's team Captain and leader Bagwell, who was placed on the DL yesterday....This means that he wont be available for pinch hitting duties, if needed....This gives Florida another advantage, as Bags was 2nd on the team in RBIs and HRs..and also1st in Walks...Taking an important offensive player like him out of the equation, subtracts a big threat to the Marlins...

The Astros today is simply out of help, and this is something they will definately wish they had after facing the Majors best pitcher today....Their current offensive stars is still either hurt, showing their age, or coming back from inj...ie, Berkman, who just hasnt been able to get back quickly into the groove he had last season when he led the Astros in almost every offensive category....So far, he has only 1 hit in 3 games back and his average is under .100 at the plate...Plus, Oswalt is coming off his worst start of the season, as he allowed 9 runs and 10 hits in just 5 innings on Friday, in a 9-4 loss at Atlanta...Oswalt has allowed 10 hits and lasted only 5 innings in each of his last two starts...Simply put, the Astros are struggling, hurting, and falling downwards fast...and now they have to face the pitcher with the best numbers in baseball to date...Simply not a good situation or position for them to be in..

Florida should be focused to take out the Astros and keep things rolling behind the best starting rotation in the league, making it to the playoffs this time around...Taking out the Astros keeps them in pace with the Braves, Dodgers, and Cards as the drivers for the NL best...The Astros probably felt the hardest thing for them to do was getting another win on the Road...I, on the other hand, felt that accomplishing that would be the easiest thing for them to do in this series...The hardest thing, in my opinion was for them being able to find another starter to duplicate what the Rocket did to Florida's lineup on Monday, thus winning back to back games....But, like I thought, they failed yesterday in achieving this..and that make todays games, not hard for them to bounce back from...No, today with Willis on the hill, it makes this game for the Astros a "Mission Impossible"....There is no way the Marlins with Willis on the hill today will let the Astros steal this important series away from them...So with all this said, I am playing the Florida Marlins -163 as my "BIG GAME PLAY"-SERIES GAME OF THE MONTH selection...Lay it and them ride the D-Train straight to the Bank once more.....GL and Aloha CC.

*please disregrad any typos or grammatical errors...to damn tired and not enough time to edit this Book..Thxs..

*2nd COMP PLAY FOR THIRSTY THURSDAY ON:

                    **TOP RATED PLAY ON:

                    COLORADO -106

-Taken the Rockies tonight...Chacon's last 3 games 15.2 innings gave up 14 hits....Ortiz's last 3 games 14 innings gave up 24 hits and has a 7.71 ERA...In this rarified air of Col...one of those hits could easily turn into a BOMB...and Ortiz has been getting hit alot this year...He has also give up 12 ERs, and 10 walks to just 6 strikeouts in his last 3 starts..Not good!

Plus, Colorado at Home vs RHPs is hitting .311...while Zona on the Road vs RHPs is only hitting .217....And Zona's BP if called upon wont help them either as their ERA is 6.31 in the last 3 games..

Colorado coming into this one on a bit of a confident run as they won 3 of last 4 games vs Florida and a Hot Atlanta team, who they just won the series against...And in this series they beat Atlanta's Hudson and Smolz which is pretty good...

Lastly, Zona also only averaging 3.2 rpg and hitting just .205 on the Road...and just .247 vs RHPs overall.

Colorado at Home is averaging 4.6 rpg vs RHPs and hitting .282 vs them....But, at Home they are averaging 6.4 rpg and hitting a solid .321....Colorado also is 15-6 at Home against Zona in the last 3 seasons....Suck Em Up cause its Thirsty Thursday Baby!... All Rocky Mountain Boys tonight ...GL and Aloha CC.

FYI:... Comp Play 4 "ALOHA FRIDAY" ... Enjoy!

**TOP RATED PLAY OF THE DAY ON:

                            NY Yankees -107

-Hold on Gang, cause the Evil Empire seems to have awaken from their hibernation...They are on a 5 game winning streak of late and their surge is being fueled finally by the boys at the plate....It seems that all they needed was someone to finally admit, that their boys on the hill are to fucking old to be as effective as they were in the past...Randy, Kevin, Stanton, Groom, Gordon, Mariano, Quantrill, and Sturtze are all to fucking old and their stuff wouldnt scare or intimidate a girls softball team..lol (jk).....And their two other young studs, one is a rookie and the other is married to a Fuckin Hot Ass Babe, who is making him weak in his knees...I guess the Yankees also got tired of being called the "SpankYourYankees" ...and thus grabbed their other stick and got to stroking them instead.

There is no denying that Tino Martinez output at the plate, since taking over the starting position at first base, in place of Giambi, has led to a surge from this Yankee team who was in a state of funkyness...His timely HRs in the last 5 games, during their current 5 game winning streak, couldnt have come at a better time as the Yanks were coming off of losing back to back series to Toronto and TB...In fact, they last lost 3 games of 4 to TB, which I dont think has ever happened...So Tino's hitting .300 during this span with 5 HRs and 11 RBIs was something that they really needed to boast their confidence.

The Yankees, believe it or not are on their longest winning streak of the season...and I dont see them ending this run just yet....Not with this bunch of athletes, who is Hot at the plate right now....To much talent to expect their slump to continue forever, and also to much talent to expect this Winning streak to end tonight either...In tonights game, I can only see one thing happening....and my reasons below will start why..

REASON # 1: The Yankee sticks are Hot, while the A's sticks are Not!

-The Yanks currently rank 8th in team hitting average with .272 at the plate.....The A's currently rank last in the Majors in hitting average with a low of .235.
-The Yanks rank 2nd in Runs....The A's rank last in Runs.
-The Yanks rank 4th in Hits.......The A's rank 2nd to last in Hits.
-The Yanks rank 4th in HRs with 42 Bombs so far.....The A's rank 2nd to last with Only 22 HRs on the year.
-The Yanks rank 3rd in RBIs with 178 (just 2 behind leader Boston and 1 behind St Louis).....The A's rank last in the league with Only 115 RBIs..
-The Yanks rank 3rd in OBP.......The A's rank 4th to last in OBP.
-The Yanks rank 7th in SLG . 434......The A's ranked last in SLG at .338....Pathetic!

Sidenote: The Yanks also has been playing aggressive when on base and have stolen 23 bases so far on the year, which ranks 8th most in the league....While the A's again rank last in the league in SB's with Only 5 on the year so far....Based on the Yanks solid hitting, they dont need to take this risk of moving runners on base into scoring position, as other teams like Boston and St Louis, who only have 8 SB and 11 SB dont...But, I like the fact that they are playing aggressive on base, as it allows them to be less reliant on their pitcher shutting down opponents...Thus more runs means more chances of winning....And, by them establishing themselves as a formidable threat is steal, it helps out the hitter at the plate as well....Torre is making everyone contribute to securing more runs, helping batters out at the plate, and also doing whatever he can to give his pitchers leads to work with...This is a good thing when teams work together like this...Just look at the White Sox.

REASON # 2: The A's are in a bad Offensive Slump right now .

-The A's have currently lost 5 straight games and 8 of their last 9.
-In their last 5 games, they have been outscored 33 to 12 in this span.
-The Yanks in their last 5 games are 5-0 and they have outscored their opponents 35 to 16...including outscoring the A's 14 to 6 in this span.
-The A's are at Home today and this isnt making any difference to their scoring and hitting woes....In fact, at Home they are avg just 3.5 rpg and hitting just .243 at the plate...While they allow opponents to average 5.3 rpg against them..
-The A's vs RHPs are averaging just 3.4 rpg and hitting just .231 at the plate vs them..
-Overall the A's are averaging only 3.5 rpg and .235 at the plate....It is obvious to see that the A's woes at the plate and in run production has seemingly gone deeper and spread wider, thus affecting every aspect and situation they are in and currently will be in again....It has extended to affect them all around..ie, on the Road, vs RHPs, and even at Home.... and this is not a good thing at all..

Sidenote: When a teams offense doesnt back up their starters on the hill, it will start to affect them as well...Slumps is like Cancer, in that if it is not taken care of and overcome, then sooner or later it will spread to other parts of the team...There are signs already that this has already happened as Oakland's starters and even their solid BP pitchers are currently off their game.

Sidenote:The Yanks pitching staff is ranked 4th in least walks allowed in the league...and this means that the A's will need to hit them or they face striking out or grounding out....However, seeing that the A's bats are colder than a ice right now and there seems to be no sign of thawing going on, I have to say again that they are in Trouuuuble Toooonight...

REASON # 3: Harden vs Mussina and the Yankee's All-Star Lineup.

-The A's Harden is currently 2-2 in 6 starts with a Solid 1.94 ERA....Buuuuuut, in his last 3 games his ERA is 3.38 and his record during this span is 0-2..
-Harden is currently ranked 2nd in the AL with his low 1.94 ERA......Buuuuuut, he is only 1-1 with a 5.14 ERA vs the Yanks in his last 3 starts against them...and the A's went 1-2 in Harden's 3 starts vs NY.
-Harden's last start vs the Yankees on 5-8 ended in a 6-0 loss for Oakland....In this game, he allowed 5 hits and 2 ERs, while walking 4 batters in 7 innings on the hill..

Sidenote: Harden has good numbers overall, but in his recent starts these numbers show that he to is not in his early season shutdown form...Plus, his past starts vs the Yanks has not resulted in his favor, which is not a good thing for him mentally to have to deal with...and especially during this time where he cant depend on his offensive to back him up....He knows that he will have to endure all the weight of this game on his shoulders and do it while facing possibly the best lineup, top to bottom, in the league at the same time...Harden will definately feel alot of pressure on him knowing this fact, and it wont get any easier at all because he is pitching at home infront of their fans who are expecting them to beat the Yankees tonight....Wow, and you think you have problems.

Sidenote: Another thing working against Harden tonight is the fact that the Yanks hitters already faced him 5 days ago, so there will be no secret to what he will throw at them....and this is not good especially because the Yankees are a Hot hitting team right now...Plus, Jeter is avg .500 vs him, Matsui is avg .667 vs him, and A-Rod is avg .500 vs him....Only Martinez and Sheffield was he able to hold hitless and strikeout twice...Problem is, Sheffield is not someone who you can hold down for long....Plus, he currently leads the Yanks in hitting and ranks 8th in the AL with his .331 batting average...He also ranks 5th in the AL in Hits, 6th in the AL in RBIs, and 7th in the AL with most walks...And while Sheffield is the Yanks most consistant hitter, Martinez is NY's Hottest hitter now....as he is averaging .300 in this 5 game win streak with 5 HRs and 11 RBIs as well....So its just a matter of time till they all T off on him tonight...No way he can keep this lineup down....NO WAY!

Sidenote: I mentioned above that the Yanks are ranked 8th in the league in SB this year...And although they havent stolen alot in road games, they still possess the threat of stealing which can be just as helpful to them in trying to disrupt Harden enough, thus helping out the hitter at the plate...People always overlook the advantages of a team who has the ability to move runners via steals...and who can also use this threat against the opposing teams pitchers, which does help out the hitters at the plate...I feel Torre will steal or use their threat to steal as much as he can and especially if Harden is untouchable tonight....Another advantage to the Yanks.

-The Yanks starting pitcher Mussina is just 3-2 in 7 starts this year with a 3.60 ERA....However, in his last 3 games, he has gone 2-1 and his ERA is a low 2.74 with a WHIP of 1.043 in this span.
-Mussina is 6-6 with a ERA of 3.99 and WHIP of 1.215 vs the A's in his career.....But in his last start vs the A's on 5-7, he allowed just 4 hits and gave up no ERs, and just 2 walks, in a complete game shutout of the A's ....Solid!

Reason # 4: Situational Edge with Yankees at the Plate vs Oakland BP on the hill.

-The A's overall stat wise has the better pitching staff than the Yanks do....as they are currently ranked higher in many categories then NY is...ie, lower ERA, lower hits allowed, more K's, lower WHIP, and more saves...But this is mainly based on the solid start they had in the beginning of the year...This is a different time and the situation favors the Yankees hot bats...especially as the A's BP in their last 3 games has a whopping ERA of 9.15 and a WHIP of 1.98..
-The A's BP in the last 10 game's has an ERA of 6.40....compared to the Yanks BP's ERA of 3.99 during this same span.
-The Yanks hitting .270 at the plate in their last 10 games.

Sidenote: The A's Closer Dotel, must be alittle Shell Shocked after giving up back to back, 2 run, game winning Bombs, in his last two games at Boston...If he makes an appearance tonight, the Yanks should have a big psychological edge over him...as he will definately be thinking the same thing could happen again, especially with these studs he has to face...His confidence is not fully there and this is not what you want from anyone coming out of the bull pen...The Yanks are not the team you want your best BP guy, to have to face after getting creamed 2 straight games...

Anyways, I will stop here...as I see only one way to go, and that is with the Hot Yankees Bats against an A's team whos bats are colder than ice right now, and which their pitching staff have been showing the signs of being affected by this chill they are sending out...Harden will be good and he will get his wins, but that will only come when the A's bats finally thaw out...I learned just the other day that only one man can carry a team to a win eventhough his support is in the same funk as Oakland is in...and that man is the Rocket...Sorry A's fans Harden is no Rocket, so he has no chance of doing what the Rocket could do....And especially not against this 200 Trillion dollar lineup of the Yanks...So, until the A's bats finally thaw out completely and their BP stops trying to impersonate Santa Claus...I simply cannot go against this Yankee team that has been waiting all season to slam everyones dick in the dirt like they know they can....So with that said, take the Yankees as my TOP RATED PLAY OF THE DAY selection....GL and LETS GO GET EM!....ALOHA CC

                              THANK YOU MR. SHEFFIELD!

Thank You Mr Sheffield for not making me look like a dumb-ass when I projected that you would get to Harden tonight....That was a nice two run blast...Can we have another... Go Yankees! :uzi:
