My laptop was refusing to start this morning. The Windows XP screen appeared as normal, but it did not start my computer. After about 3 minutes, this message appeared:
"A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is proberly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your harware or software manufacturer for a Windows update you might need.
If the problem continues, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.
Technical Information:
***Stop: 0x000000ED (0x81331030, 0xc000000E, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)"
I haven't installed any new harware of software on my laptop. I turned off my laptop and tried restarting in Safe Mode. After a few minutes, the above message appeared again.
I again turned off my laptop and tried again. I highlighted Safe Mode and hit enter. After a few minutes, the Windows XP screen appeared and my computer started in normal mode.
What the hell is going on here? Is my laptop safe to use right now? How can I fix this problem so that I can start my laptop regularly?
Thanks for any replys.
