  • I Need A Computer Expert....Help!!!

My laptop was refusing to start this morning. The Windows XP screen appeared as normal, but it did not start my computer. After about 3 minutes, this message appeared:

"A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is proberly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your harware or software manufacturer for a Windows update you might need.

If the problem continues, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

    Technical Information:

    ***Stop: 0x000000ED (0x81331030, 0xc000000E, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)"

I haven't installed any new harware of software on my laptop. I turned off my laptop and tried restarting in Safe Mode. After a few minutes, the above message appeared again.

I again turned off my laptop and tried again. I highlighted Safe Mode and hit enter. After a few minutes, the Windows XP screen appeared and my computer started in normal mode.

What the hell is going on here? Is my laptop safe to use right now? How can I fix this problem so that I can start my laptop regularly?

    Thanks for any replys.

                PC problem,

Can you start the system in Safe Mode, shut down laptop, fire it back up,hit and hold F8,you should see an option for Safe Mode, select that and let me know if you can login to XP.

                  Guys,

                  Thanks for the replys.

Since my laptop had started in regular mode, I took a shot and scanned my laptop for viruses, and also ran my Spyware Doctor program.

No viruses were detected, and Spyware Doctor found 25 hits from "Wild Tangent." I then re-started my laptop, and it re-booted fine.

I still don't know what happened, but it's working now.

                  Thanks again for the replys.

                    Earl,

I did exactly that. Hit F8, but it started my laptop in regular mode, and not in safe mode. I then did what I posted in post # 9.

This happened to me, and I found out that I had a weak firewall. It was a disaster, and I lost everything on the system. Do yourself a favor and make sure your firewall is up to speed.....helped me out, and I have had no problems since.....

                          Fan,
I agree with Frank. As sick as it sounds, if you coninue to hump the computer tower you will need this protection. The inners of a computer are very sensitive, and even a small amount of "moisture" can ruin a hard drive.

Think of the condom as a tangible "fire wall".

                          Good Luck

                            Thanks Rwall.

The other day I was pumping away at it and my dick hit the little fan inside. My dick kinda looked like the pic Spark put up on the "Be Careful Guys" thread. I think I pulled it out so fast, I must have disconnected something.
