To answer Savage's original question...I have no ill effects from spending 1-2 hours per day here on BC or any other forum. I also have no problems with the fact that I think about gambling a few times per day. When someone is passionate about something it is going to take some of their mind at least a few times per day.

Now to get myself into the fray. Savage...You seem to implicate everyone who responds to you in a negative way as personally threatening you. Which is brought upon yourself. If you were half as intelligent as you claim to be then you would understand that part of any message is the audience. By throwing out anti-gambling messages on a gambling board you have in fact akinned yourself to an unwanted missionary. You are getting people's visceral reaction to topics that are sensitive to them in a forum where they are supposed to be safe from detracting opinions.

Also...By taking a high moral stance and demeanor you been hypocritical when you in fact have given just as many cheap shots.

You have stated several times that you are intelligent. You even gave an example in this thread where you stated "I took 3 years of Spanish in high school and 2 years in college and got straight A's". While the example was in reference to being able to speak with your wife it also comes across as..."look how wonderfully intelligent I am as well" Oh happy freaking joy joy. No one gives a rip. Grades are the farthest thing that I can find from a reasonable measure of intelligence. If you want people to debate you then go to a debate forum or go join a debate team. This is a GAMBLING FORUM. Where people come to converse share picks and bounce capping ideas off each other.

OK- I thought about it also and decided I shouldn't have said it;it was in the heat of the moment, and I will openly apologize to JT for saying.
Keep in mind though that I believe his sarcastic comment about"Ask your boy Obama" also had no relevance to the topic at hand and should have not been stated, and from my point of view, it was stated to try to piss me off.
Also, what about comments made about my wife by Wayne and others because she is Colombian? Were those not cheap shots also? Lets be consistent here!

All I can say is go back and re-read some of the posts and see who took the first cheap shots, used swear words at me and in this case made demeaning remarks about my wife and her inability to speak to understand me and my inability to understand her.
If someone states something like this, I have a right to defend myself and correct the person-in this case it is not bragging about my five years of studying Spanish and gettign straight A's, it is simply correcting the remarks which was totally inaccurat ein the first place.
It is never wise to take things out of context, which imo is what you have done here.
ps In your opinion were the sarcastic remarks said about my wife to set me off appropriate? A simple yes or no will suffiice.

ps If this topic is deemed as inappropiate even in a non gambling section, I apologize and suggest Monte close down the thread.
Before all of the nastiness started, I intended to state I have had some problems with it myself in the past and sometimes even currently(if you go back to first thread I believe, you will see this), and of the thread stays open, I will open up and tell you some of the bad things as they apply to me.
By so stating, hopefully it will help others in the future.
Also, while the Cat/Condo thread got out of hand, from my point of view it got some to use their minds and think;yes I can be opinionated like anyone else, but I do think some good came out of that.

ps In all due fairness to all, I think the fact that I am much older than most, gives me a different perspective on things in general( and no I am not implying I am better than they are because of it-I am simply stating that that may be one of the real contributing factors here and in other threads-eg my best friend who is about my age also feels more damning evidence mayl come out about Ortiz, and unlike most here, we should wait a while before completely damning him).

Mavs-what You didn't point out is that EVERY ONE of your responses was in response to smtomething Wayne and the other guys said FIRST to piss me off-I don't have to argue with swear words and say nasty things to make my points like the persons you cited.
However, I WILL respond in kind when personally attacked.
Your never see me and Spark for example using swear words and attacking each other when we have a dispute.
Read what he said in the last few days and how he communicated to me his feelings and my response.
