I'm an IT professional. I own my computer consulting business. I clean approx 100 computers each year. Forget Spybot and Adaware both do a decent job but they won't remove some of the more sophisticated viruses/Spyware.

After running combofix download Spyware Doctor from PCTOOLS.COM

IMO and the opinion of many professionals Spyware Doctor is the best. It's not free. It $30 for a one year subscription. It's worth it.

    DO NOT reformat your computer.

I have no problem paying the $30 frank. I almost paid and downloaded the damn spyware page that constantly keeps coming up but i feel like that would be a mistake. We are willing to buy or do anything at this point to fix it ..... hopefully without having to clean out the whole computer.

      I'll try it.

Yeah, it's a pain in the ass...I've done it. You have to go through your data files, photos, etc. and decide what you want to keep, then save them to some other medium such as a flash drive(s), CDs, or some other kind of external drive. Then after your operating system is re-installed you have to then re-install whatever application programs you use.

I guess there are differing opinions in these situations from IT professionals. I work with a lot of IT professionals, hardware experts, Network Specialists, etc. When I've had a similar situation with my home PC I've been told reformatting is the solution of choice. I hope you can get by without doing that, Wayne. Good luck.

Some are a bitch to clean. Almost all can be removed without having to reinstall the OS. The only time I have to reinstall the OS is when the infection isn't cleaned and the computer becomes more and more infected. Then it often infects key OS files.

Many IT professional take the easy approach. Some are not very professional and they are thieves.

I charge $100 for OS reinstallation. It takes about an hour. I charge $175 for virus/spyware removal and windows 'repair'. I can take 4-6 hours. From a business sense it's more cost effective for me to do a reinstall but most clients don't want to backup and reinstall all programs. Most don't have the installation CDs for their programs.

bleepingcomputer.com is a great site. One of the best

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is recommended on the above page. That was going to be another step in the removal process.

Yeah, I can see where not having the CDs for OS and applications programs would be a problem. Some applications you can get off the Web, e.g. flash, Acrobat reader, Java, etc. I'm fortunate that the major enterprise software licenses (e.g. MS Office) for my work cover a home copy as well so I just get the CDs from my LAN Administrator and do it myself when I need to. I've had to do it a couple of times on the 7-yr old PC I have at home and it always works like a new PC after I do it. Dealing with all the data files you want to keep, however, is a real pain. I've started keeping most of those on some server space I have so I don't have to deal with PC hardware failures.

It is no Romo but i needed Johnson. Thank god i had today off because i would have been screwed when i got home! lmao

P.S. I do have a laptop. It just doesn't have any of my pools/programs on it.

Download, install and run Ccleaner. I doesn't clean or remove spyware. It does a great job cleaning your system of clutter.
