Prayers Are Needed

Jimmy,
I know your worry. I am also in the path of this mess. I just got my fuking house finished from Katrina and now this !!

My friend works with the government and the oil rigs. The last forecast that came out about an hour ago had it turning a little more west but it is still too early to tell anything.

I bitch about my house but my main concern is that my daughter is due with my grandson in a month and I have a mentally handicapped sister who lives with me.
When we left for Katrina, it was a bitch. I live in Kenner which is right by New Orleans and it took us 10 hours to drive to Lafayette which is normally a 2 hour drive. When I got home, I was one of the lucky ones and only had 2 feet of water in my house.

I still remember staying in that FEMA trailer for over a year - talk about suck.

Anyway, Jimmy, I'm not sure where you are but we are all praying that this hurricane stays away and I hope all stays well with you and your family.

Wed 8-27-4:00 PM Update

a slight projection change of where Gustav is gonna hit.....appears it may go a bit more East from my home town of Morgan City, La, and just 25 miles from my PODNA LSU Jimmy in Thibodaux, and getting a lil closer to New Orleans/Kenner La area (baseBall Dave), and leaning to the the Miss coast some (daveT)......we've got members in all these areas.....lets wish em all well, and add in a few prayers for out fellow members.....

I am in Thibodaux Dave, about 1 hour from you. By Saturday, we will know more. I've already got 40 gallons of gas ready to go. Depending on the location and size, we will stay. If it gets to a Cat. 4 or 5, we're heading out I believe.

No way will this be a tropical storm, the wind sheer is minumal, the troph is lifting and the water temps from cuba to the U.S is north of 80degrees which equals feeding all the way till it hits the U.S....this will be a distructive hurricane, now the were abouts, can sway from run to run but the GFS and the Euro operational along with yes NOAA have this thing going into Louisana...but the most critical time is from now until it goes between the Yukatan pan. and Cuba....time will tell, but the models are all agreeing that this one is for real

Thanks JC, I appreciate that and will keep that in mind.

Mom and I already spoke about it and we may not "ride this one out." We have never left for any hurricanes. Our house is very strong, and we have never flooded, but the problem is being without electricity for days.

Although I have a generator with a 10 gallon gas tank, I may not want to stick around for this one.

We will keep you and all Gulf folks in our prayers brother !

You are right about the generator , it's great to have for one day . Last winter we had to run on generator for 5 straight days ... believe me it SUCKS . Akin to camping out , have to get most things done in daylight hours and the oldsters definitely aren't jiggy w/it
