        • I live in Central Calif, but I love going to Poppy Hills and playing there. As an NCGA memebr, it's very cheap. $50 for a round at one of the better courses on the coast. If you're going to make it out here, ask Spark for my email addy and we'll hit the links

                You are most correct.

I like you have been here a long time and this truly is the beginning of end for sites like this and our freedom to use our hard earned money as we wish.

It will get VERY VERY ugly for internet bettors from here on out!

EVERY STATE will start jailing people that post plays, can be proved they promote internet gambling in any form, and especially if they can hang an IP address on or for someone.

Like Savage said........they want to make examples of some to drive off the many.........and it will work.........no one should have to go to jail for what is completely legal in almost every state.......When you bring in Bingo, Horses, Lottery or Pull Tabs, Fantasy Pools, and NCAA BASKETBALL ....these will be next........they will find another Martyr to prosecute.

ALL BULLSHIT!! OUR FOUNDING FATHERS OF THIS COUNTRY WOULD BE ASHAMED OF THESE SALEM WITCH TRIAL FUCKERS!

NO FREAKING REASON OTHER THAN THEY HAVE BEEN PAID OFF BY OTHER POLITICAL REPRESENTATIVES AND LOBBYIST DICKS WITH OTHER ILLEGAL MONEY INTERESTS WHICH THIS BILL WILL HELP SERVE THEM AND NOT THE PEOPLE THEY REPRESENT (and that is bullshit.......represent my ass).

BEST OF LUCK SV1 OK...........I have vented now........BOL..GV
I am NOT schizophrenic......and NEITHER am I! Just paranoid that fear may overcome my insanity!

                        • The only people who ever claimed internet gambling was legal were the gambling sites. It's been a gray area all along. The wire act, however, has always made it clear that any bet over the phone was a crime.

The books claim because they are in another the country the bet is being made over there. No U.S. official has ever endorsed that position. In fact, several people have been prosecuted for running off shore books and a couple of them, including that idiot Jeff Allen (who is already back on TV), went to prison.

Everybody is panicking too soon. Bush will sign the whole thing into law but then some book will file a lawsuit challenging it. A court will eventually determine the result.

This could take a long time.

The bill prohibits American financial institutions from making money transfers to gambling sites. Cashier's Checks (the only way I ever take a payout) would continue to be hard to track.

As for deposits, Neteller would seem to be a good source since it is not based in the United States.

The other alternative for deposit is cashiers checks.

As for the reason this bill passed, virtually no one has lobbied their representatives and senators against it because not many people like to publicly claim they are gambling because of the obvious tax consequences. These guys in Washington have no idea that they have alienated people because no one has told them.

The big winners? All the locals are having a giant party.

My own belief is that, in the end, web gambling is here to stay but will be very risky.

                          • Big brother is already here. Torture bill that passed yesterday includes clauses suggesting that Government dissenters are terrorists and subject to incarceration without representation.

It use to be "whoever is not with us is against us". Now it's "whoever is not with us is a terrorist". Un-#$%^&-believable!

                            • Goldvike-It is truly sickening what is happening in this country, and yes it is scary also.
What is interesting is that issues like this bring many folks like us together no matter whether they are democrats or republicans.
It is quite ironic actually that many folks detest the liberalism espoused in my state of Masschusetts, yet folks like Kerry and Ted Kennedy are very much against absurd legislation like this unlike others who generally speaking more conservative.
In essence I and we all belong this is an issue which as you say abrogates one of our fundamental freedoms on which this country was founded.
What is even worse is that the reasons for the legislation are self-serving and are financial in nature and are intended for the benefit of the few rather than the masses.
At the expense of sounding a little paranoid, all I can say at this point is be careful what you(everyone) do and say especially on a public forum;don't give anyone any leads. I can almost guarantee currently there are snoopy folks who aware of this forum, do read what is posted and don't really care what the lock of the day is if you get my drift;they have an entirely different agenda!

I had heard before today that the bill dosen't prohibit internet gambling, just the transfer of money by banks etc. to and from gambling sites. Has that changed at all because if it hasen't, there isn't anything in the bill that speak to gambling itself, just the transfer of monies. If this is true, then there is nothing directed at us and we are free to keep using off shores to gamble. Of course, getting money to and from the offshore, is another story. That's the intent of the bill. If we don't have a way to pay and collect, that will keep us from using off shores.

Is this anyones understanding of this bill. That it only speaks to banks etc. and not anything else. The use of phone wires to place bets is already part of legislation from 30 or so years ago. It just hasen't been enforced. This is probally why the offshore I use, about a month ago, stopped accepting bets over the phone. Online plays only.
