I care. And I no longer watch. I love the history of the game. That's why I care.

I disagree 100% If it was that simple more minor league players would choose steroids. I believe most have chosen not to take steroids because of the risks.

What makes him honest? Because he thinks most players would do steroids. I disagree. I'm 46. I played sports my entire life. I played hockey at a high competitve level. I've never smoke cigarettes. I've never smoked pot. My experimentation with drugs was extremely limited. I know I would never have taken steroids. I doubt most of the guys I've played with would have taken steroids.

If it was about making a quick and easy buck then why don't most people deal drugs. Simple. Because its dangerous and illegal. If someone admitted to being a drug dealer whould you shout "FINALLY ONE HONEST PERSON HERE"? Doubtful.

It's also Irrelavant. Bonds and other major leaguers were already making millions. The guys we accuse of taking steroids were already making millions.

Taking steroids or HGH doesn't guarantee that you'll be a better player. A player still has to have superior ability to able to put up these record breaking numbers. Hulk Hogan used steroids and i'll bet he can't hit a baseball all that well.

That being said, i'm tired of being a Bonds apologist. Clearly, his stats are jacked up because of the juice. But before he began using, I would maintain to anyone who would listen, that he was the best all around baseball player of my generation. I still stand by that. He fucked it up by cheating.

But lets not kid ourselves into thinking that the game has been 100% pure going back in time. There have been performace enhancing drugs around for years and no one knows who was using and when.
Before Bonds started using steroids he was a far cry from being the best in the game.

And as for your first comment baseball is about conditioning the muscles to react to a situation such as batting. That's why players take all kinds of batting practice to keep the muscles condition for a reaction and to keep proper form when swinging the bat. If on steriods they are much stronger and can swing the bat much quicker which results in more hr's. Balls that normally wouldn't go out of the park are going out as a result of the strength.

As for players in the past like Ruth the drug of choice was getting drunk. That would only hinder ones ability. And look at how many Hr's ruth had in at bats then compare that to both bonds and aaron.

Who was a better all around player than him from 1975-2000? Griffey? Maybe......but all the injuries and missed time give the edge to Bonds, as far as i'm concerned.

Possibly, but I don't think that's the reason. Clearly Bonds was using masking agents that was keeping him clean during testing.

He had a microfracture repair on his knee during the offseason before last. I had the same procedure exactly one year ago. I can barely jog across the street in NYC, now, to avoid being hit by a taxi. My knee is better, but i'll likely never play ball again and i'll have arthritis in my knee for the rest of my life.

I agree with Diesel. They ought to just let them do the juice if they want to and use them as human rats. Who knows, maybe we'd find out some good stuff about it...

PHOENIX -- Jason Grimsley was released by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, a day after his home was searched by federal agents following his admission he used human growth hormone, steroids and amphetamines.

The raid -- and the pitcher's implication of other players -- was the latest sign that widespread investigations into drug use by athletes are still active, even during tougher testing.

Grimsley's agent told the Associated Press he thought this would mark the end of the 38-year-old reliever's career.

"My guess is Jason's done playing," Joe Bick said. "I don't anticipate he would play again."

General manager Josh Byrnes said Grimsley asked for his release Wednesday.

Federal agents searched Grimsley's home in Scottsdale, Ariz., for six hours Tuesday, but they would not reveal what they found. Investigators who cracked the BALCO steroid scandal in San Francisco said Grimsley initially cooperated in the probe but withdrew his assistance in April, prompting Tuesday's search.

According to court documents, authorities tracked a package containing two "kits" of human growth hormone -- about a season's supply -- that was delivered at Grimsley's house April 19.

Moments later, agents armed with a warrant offered him an option: Cooperate with their investigation into athletes using performance-enhancing drugs, or submit to an immediate search. Grimsley agreed to be interviewed.

He detailed his "receipt and use of anabolic steroids, amphetamines and human growth hormone over the last several years," but said he went exclusively with HGH when baseball's testing program began.

Grimsley also identified several other players who he said had used or supplied the drugs, though their names were blacked out from court documents. They included a handful of former teammates and one player he identified as one of his "better friends in baseball," adding that it was common knowledge that "Latin players" were a major source for amphetamines in the sport.

Grimsley also pitched for the Phillies, Indians, Angels, Yankees, Royals and Orioles.

According to court documents, Grimsley failed a baseball drug test in 2003. Authorities said when he was cooperating, he admitted to using human growth hormone, amphetamines and steroids.

Frank, Do you want a ribbon for being a martyr? I didn't ask for your life history. I similar to you have dones very little to none of the things you have mentioned above but I can at least be honest and say that doesn't make me better than others. Between you and your other friend all I hear these days are sermons on superiority and how one should live life. I am sorry that my comment offended you but I have other people that I trust more and respect more to get my lifes lessons from

I never said I was superior. I never said how one should live their life. Your comments didn't offend me. I simply stated I disagree with you. I believe most people would disagree with you. I believe the majority of people would not risk health for wealth.

And your feelings of respect or lack of are mutual.

                        Oh by the way.

                        Martyr:

                        1. One who chooses to suffer death rather than renounce religious principles.

                        2. One who makes great sacrifices or suffers much in order to further a belief, cause, or principle.

I'm not a martyr. The way I chose to live my life is not a sacrifice.

This whole investegation nonsense is almost as big a farce as some of the shit thats happened the last few years. Today it comes out that the Feds wanted Grimsley to wear a wire tap and get Bonds implicated by his teammates on tape. This whole thing is embarassing.

The stupidest thing IMO is trying to dig up shit from years ago when non of this shit was banned or tested for.

Imagine this scenario at your job. Starting today, smoking pot is banned by your workplaces code of conduct, and will from now on be tested for. But, they are also going to dig up stuff on some people from 5 years ago, try to prove they smoked it then (even though they cant prove it no matter how obvious it may be to some), and punish them for it. Its completely absurd.

I dont like the Red Sox, so Ortiz must be juicing because he is MUCH better now than a few years ago. So how stupid that sounds.

The p.c. crowd even did in baseball, something that I thought was impossible.
