No doubt. Every Sox fan i talk to daily thinks Manny is PHAT, HILARIOUS, and a SLUGGER ... BUT ... we all know he isn't the Heart & Soul of this team or the clubhouse leader. Hell, we just love watching manny play!

Manny is a hitting savant but Papi has been THE guy for this team the last few years.

Agreed...best clutch hitter in baseball, leader in the clubhouse...question though- ever wonder why no one ever considers him for steroids? Look at the way he blossomed.

Yes, but one VERY important factor is Ortiz gets the PRIME spot in the lineup. Look at last years numbers. They are almost exactly the same between Ortiz and Manny.

They CAN'T pitch around Ortiz because Manny is on Deck. When Manny is up, he does not have anyone like himself or Papi to protect him. It matters and if Papi hit behind Manny, you would see Ramirez jack 50 out!

He never "Blossomed". He put up huge numbers per game in Minny. The problem was they had no place for him in the lineup and never gave him a season to see what he could do. They don't give big contracts and Boston stole him as a FA. Look at him in Minny. He has been a huge man his whole career.

Do you remember years back when Nomar was on the sox and there was a big debate on who was a better shortstop......... Next question!

Perhaps he got his juice from Sheffield and Giambi? All joking aside, I don't think he did, but just interesting that the connection has not been made...

I never believed it was Nomar. I always thought A-Rod was the Best SS.

Well, i agree with that, but i'm just talking about between the redsox and yankees. Redsox fans always said Nomar was better than Jeter and Yankee fans said that Jeter was better than Nomar. Now even Dimer agrees that Jeter was not even in the same class as Nomar.

Paul O'neill is one of the best Yankees in the last few decades, as seen during the 2001 (?) WS when while the Yankees were losing to the D-Backs he has his name chanted for the last 3.5 innings. That was the most memorable night I have ever spent in the Stadium.

What other player has recieved that reaction from his hometown fans???

                              1) Jeter would have never swiped at any first baseman's glove like a pantload.
                              2) Jeter is clutch, produces when it matters.
                              3) He's just a classy guy, carries himself well.

That's enough for me to take him over A-Rod.
Arguing against ARod's greatness is just ignorant!!!
Swiping at the glove wasn't bush league. He was trying to make something happen and was ruled out correctly. If that is your biggest knock on ARod then I think you make my debate for me.

Jeter hasnt produced in the playoffs in 2+ years and led MLB last season in making the final out of games with RISP. ARod production has steadily iomproved as he has had more AB's in the playoffs.

                              AND AROD ISNT CLASSY c'mon!?!??!?!??!!?

I prefer Jeter as well cos he been in the system since the draft and ARod was acquired in a trade. Jeter was also there when the Yanks won 4 out of 5.

                                Hedrick, clearly you are ignorant.
Read what I wrote. I never argued against Arod's "greatness".

I merely argued "FOR" Jeter's greatness.

If you want to pick a verbal fight, a battle of words, don't do it with me.

                                Cheers.
