    My partner STaylor said
It's a situation where to be perfectly honest I am glad he's out.

I would just prefer if it was with an injury like a sprained knee or a broken thumb, not an irregular heartbeat which just sounds scary.
ST, you are not alone in your feelings. I want the $10,000 and I posted with my plays today..................

"I truly hope nothing is seriously wrong with Ortiz's heart, but with him not playing, I have a better chance to win the 10 dimes with Ryan Howard." I would be very happy to hear all Ortiz needs is a rest for a week or so. I felt the same way when Pulhotz was out for almost two weeks. I was happy to see that, once I knew he would be fine.

Right now, I feel great Howard finally has the lead. ST, did you know all of the Phillies remaining games are against teams with a sub .500 record. That means he will see some so-so pitching.

            Great News

Great News. Ortiz was released from the hospital today and all his tests came back normal. He is healthly, but he won't play until sometime next week. Just what we want. He is OK but he will miss somemore games. Now we need Howard to hit a few more Home Runs before Ortiz is playing again.

Ortiz said he plans to be back in the lineup for Red Sox on Saturday

BOSTON (AP) -- Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz said Thursday he is in good health and expects to return to the lineup Saturday, welcome news for a team reeling from a string of injuries.

"My health is fine. The doctors have told me to rest today and practice Friday so I can be ready to return to the playing field on Saturday," he told radio station Z-101 of his native Dominican Republic.

Ortiz returned to Boston from the team's West Coast trip for evaluation after he felt heart palpitations just before Monday night's game in Oakland. It was the second time in August that Ortiz was treated for the problem. He said he went through a battery of medical tests and doctors determined his heart palpitations were related to stress and fatigue.

"My heart is fine. Last week I had some discomfort in my chest and went to the hospital to get checked out. Then in Oakland I felt the same thing but more frequently, so we decided to go back to the doctor," he said in Spanish.

Ortiz was examined at Massachusetts General Hospital, where his teammate, left-hander Jon Lester, remained Thursday for tests for enlarged lymph nodes.

Lester was placed on the disabled list with a strained back Monday and was being tested to determine the cause of his back pain when the enlarged lymph nodes were identified, according to a statement from team medical director Thomas Gill. The Boston Herald first reported the enlarged lymph nodes on its Web site Wednesday night.

              Lester is 7-2 with a 4.76 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 81 1/3 innings.

Lester's health concerns are the latest in a string of injuries for the Red Sox, who returned to Boston on Thursday after losing six straight.

Left fielder Manny Ramirez has missed several games with a knee injury, and center fielder Coco Crisp injured his shoulder making a diving catch Tuesday.

Catcher Jason Varitek, shortstop Alex Gonzalez and outfielders Trot Nixon and Wily Mo Pena are also out with injuries.

                    ALL RIGHT 49

We need to get as much space between Howard and Ortiz while we can.

It would only happen if Philly made the playoffs. I'm watching the St Louis game and the announcers were talking asking the same thing. They think it's between him and Pujols. They were saying Howard has more HR's and RBI's than Pujols and Howards batting average isn't all that bad, just under .300.. They said even though Pujols plays for their team, Howard should be the MVP, again only if Philly makes the playoffs. I agree. The only competition I can think of would be Beltrán, partly because of all the media in New York. Anyone think of anyone else.

                        • Ortiz Info

                          The latest info on Ortiz.

""I feel good," said Ortiz, who will be examined next week to determine when he can play again. "I might pinch hit today, that's how good I feel." Dr. Gill said Ortiz will wear the heart monitor over the weekend, and if there was any indication that symptoms returned, "he could push a button to record the event." It was unclear whether Ortiz would resume any baseball activities over the weekend. "It's wait and see," Dr. Gill said.

I like the part that says he will examined NEXT WEEK to determine when he can play again. It looks like we could have one problem with Howard. He is being walked even more than eariler. The other day he walked twice and was hit by a pitch.
So far today, one WALK, one single.
