I bet that got your attention didn't it!
Well, thankfully it didn't happen to me or hopefully anyone else.
With the recent slump by Hoops and a few others, I thought I would try to inject a little humor of what could have possibly happened to someone over the weekend using strict logic.
While it is intended to be funny, in some case it shows what could in fact happen to someone who was behind and chasing:
Here goes:
Lets call our bettor Larry Loser.
Ok-Larry wakes up Saturday morning even on the week and decides he wants to bet.
The first thing he sees is that Pitt. and Duke are undefeated and playing early.
Larry figures "Well no way both of them don't cover;so I will put $1100 to make $1000 on each of them and a $1100 teaser to be sure."
As fate would have it, Larry loses all three and is now down $3300.
Then Larry sees that Florida is undefeated also;wanting to get even, he bets $3630 to make $3300 and loses, now putting him $6930 in the hole.
He had been thinking about Connecticut also undefeated, but since the Florida game started earlier(7:00) and Ct. at 9:00, he decided he wanted to wait until Tenn. game was over before committing himself on Ct. and that he would be out with his girlfriend anyways, and there simply would not be enough time all things considered to bet Ct. if Tenn. lost.
Well of course, Tenn. lost and Ct. won leaving deficit as $6930going into Sunday.
Now really angry, Larry not only want to get the $6930 back but to get ahead, he decides he will bet the first NFL game for $11000 to make $10000 and if it loses, to bet enough in the second game to make it up and put him in the plus column.
Unsure what teams to bet, Larry sees Wayne Root, Brandon Lane and all the so-called experts in consensus like Denver.
you know the story-he is now down $17930.
So now of course he figures Root, Lane, et all won't be wrong on both games and bets $23000 to make $21000 on Carolina to get him into plus column.
Well Carolina loses and debt is now $40,930.
Well, Larry has pretty much decided to wait until Monday to start over again, but then he sees late at night that two very good cappers on BC, Hoops and Roger Metz ,both have big second half plays on Toronto and Under and Portland and Under.
At this point he figures he will just try to get even and bets each piece $11000 to make $10000.
Well all four lose for a total of $44000, bringing total to $84930
This hypothetical story may be humorous, but in fact how many of us have done something like this on a much smaller scale sometime in our lives? I sure have and have learned from this painful experience.
If there is a moral, simply remember when you are going bad, keep in mind that your logic/systems are not working, and either cut way back, pass or even go against yourself(who can do that?).
I sure hope some of you get something out of this other than the humor if you want to call it that.
