OH, WELL!! That's the way the cookie crumbles!! THAT'S why he's making $8 Million a year + bonuses,,,which he will get for the rest of his contract, regardless of whether he ever comes back!! This is the NFL, and SHIT happens! It's football. I have absolutely NO pity or concern for him whatsoever, he's a multi-multi-multi millionaire for doing nothing but "playing" football. I feel bad for the miners in West Virginia that DIED doing their jobs.....so if you're gonna feel bad for a situation, feel for those families! Friggin Palmer's career means absolutely NOTHING. Anyone who gets bent out of shape about a multi-millionaire who can no longer "play" a game, has his/her priorities really f*cked up!! Who gives a f*ck...this story is already a week old, let's move on! Palmer isn't the 1st pro athelete to have his career ended, and he won't be the last! 10 years from now, nobody will even remember who Palmer is! No Biggie!!

Im sure your qualified to make that statement. You probably have the ability to read peoples minds. You were on the field with him and he told you right before the play, hey dare, im going to fake getting blocked and roll up on Palmers knee and hopefully end his career. Get a clue dude

The focus needs to be on Plamer's injury and recover and no where else.

There is no question that Vonolahofen hit Palmer on purpose after he fell into him. He fell with his arm around Palmer's ankle and then purposely jammed his shouder pad against the side of Palmer's knee. I don't think he intended to injure him, but he most certainly hit Palmer's knee on purpose.

Rook - you really think his family is all broken up about this?? Who's the moron here?? He's guaranteed $64 Million, even if he NEVER plays again!! I'd tell that right to his face AND to his family!! The guy isn't dead, he may just not play again! SO FRIGGIN WHAT!!! I'd feel worse for a guy who lost the use of his leg trying to feed his family at $25,000 a year than Palmer!! He'll make more money watching football on Sunday's from his living room than everyone on this borad will for the rest of their lives, and the rest of their children's lives, all put together!! How the f*ck can anyone feel sorry for Palmer. It's the risk NFL players take when they step on the field every Sunday! And this is no big thing AT ALL. If you want to talk about Darryl Stingley getting paralyzed, that's one thing, but this crying and sniveling over Palmer is a joke! Those screaming about a cheap shot are idiots, and those getting all broken up about Palmer while he's sitting on top of his $64 Million are not much brighter! Cut us a friggin brake and get over it! Again, get your friggin priorities straight!

Calm down Slappy and stop hating the pro athlete for making the money they do. It isn't Palmer's fault he makes a few million more than you do

Diesel - I don't hate the pro athlete! If the market bears them making what they do, then great. That's capitalism and is what makes this country great! But when someone plays a dangerous game and gets hurt..... oh, well. they know the risks, and that's why they make what they do! But to hear all these snivveling, whining babies cry about Palmer getting hurt?.... give me a break! Like I said.....who really cares, he's got his $64 million. I don't hear anyone coming on hear crying about a 28-yr old mother of 4 dying of breast cancer, screaming about the unfairness of life!! I don't hear anyone coming on hear screaming about a drunk driver killing a family of 5!! They're whining about a football injury, on a clean legal hit, that "may have" cost somebody a career, one that he will be paid for the rest of his life! In the whole scheme of things, this ain't dick!! It means NOTHING!!

Boo-hoo-hoo! Again, cut me a break all you little girls!!

You know why we talk about an injury like this? Because it's a SPORTS FORUM!! There are fans of football and fans of the Bengals and Carson Palmer in here! does that mean nobody cares about the miners or your "family of 5" that was killed by a drunk driver? HELL NO! Nobody's comparing a sports injury to the murder mayhem and tragedies of the real world! That also doesn't mean we don't care. Now get off your fuckin pulpit and stop fuckin preachin to us about what you feel is more important!

I think if the sole criterion is money, then one could argue that as long as Palmer can do everything except play football again, that it is no big deal, as he and his family are financially set for life.
On the other hand, if the feelings and emotions of not only Palmer but his family and the fans are taken into account(think how they must feel knowing that it might be a while before someone can take his place), then one has to feel badly.
Most everyone wants a lot of money, but the latter in itself cannot "buy" happiness;the state of well being/happiness means different things to different people; I think that in this case, the thought of the end of one's career when it is essentially just beginning must be devastating to him.
Yes he and his family will have all of the material things he needs in life, but will HE and to a lesser extent his family and fans be truly happy(and not how we think we would react under similar circumstances) in the sense of all that the word "happy" implies;that is the key question, and only time will tell.
