There is no question that Vonolahofen hit Palmer on purpose after he fell into him. He fell with his arm around Palmer's ankle and then purposely jammed his shouder pad against the side of Palmer's knee. I don't think he intended to injure him, but he most certainly hit Palmer's knee on purpose.
Rook - you really think his family is all broken up about this?? Who's the moron here?? He's guaranteed $64 Million, even if he NEVER plays again!! I'd tell that right to his face AND to his family!! The guy isn't dead, he may just not play again! SO FRIGGIN WHAT!!! I'd feel worse for a guy who lost the use of his leg trying to feed his family at $25,000 a year than Palmer!! He'll make more money watching football on Sunday's from his living room than everyone on this borad will for the rest of their lives, and the rest of their children's lives, all put together!! How the f*ck can anyone feel sorry for Palmer. It's the risk NFL players take when they step on the field every Sunday! And this is no big thing AT ALL. If you want to talk about Darryl Stingley getting paralyzed, that's one thing, but this crying and sniveling over Palmer is a joke! Those screaming about a cheap shot are idiots, and those getting all broken up about Palmer while he's sitting on top of his $64 Million are not much brighter! Cut us a friggin brake and get over it! Again, get your friggin priorities straight!
Us get over it? Dude where's your head? Your the one comparing the West Virginia miners to this?!?!?! Come on man.
Learn to differenciate between sports and the rest.
You know why we talk about an injury like this? Because it's a SPORTS FORUM!! There are fans of football and fans of the Bengals and Carson Palmer in here! does that mean nobody cares about the miners or your "family of 5" that was killed by a drunk driver? HELL NO! Nobody's comparing a sports injury to the murder mayhem and tragedies of the real world! That also doesn't mean we don't care. Now get off your fuckin pulpit and stop fuckin preachin to us about what you feel is more important!
This is not a perfect analogy for this topic, but I think for some it may indicate how money isn't everything in life:
Lets say you have a cat or dog that is young or middle aged(an old pet probably would not be relevant as it will probably die soon) which you love very much and to which you are very much attached.
Here is my question: how much money would it take for you to give up that pet, the stipulation being that you could never see it again, $1000, $10000, $50000, etc?
I don't think there are any right or wrong answers here, and I would bet that the answers here would be wide and varied: I think though that most wouldn't even want to ever make that choice(I would think that some of you would have an easier choice if the "item" in question was your wife instead of the pet jk).
Again not a perfect analogy to Carson Palmer, but I think each person's answer shows his/her feelings regarding the relative importance of money.
I know a lot of people here feel bad, but he knew there was a chance that this could happen when he signed his Big Fat Contract.....People get hurt in this league more than any other one because of the collisions.....If you young guys would have been around in the 70's, you would have been amazed to see how many players ended there careers because there wasn't the surgical procedures that there are now....You were aloud to grab and throw guys to the ground any time on defense and pass interference wasn't thought of...A DB from Oakland named Jack Tatum used to close line players in the throat when them came near him...That life in the NFL and they get paid pretty well the last time I looked.....Shit happens and will continue to happen like this because of the nature of the sport....When a guy signs a contract and he goes to the locker rm, it says Welcome To The NFL, not Ballet Class..

Agreed Chuck....100%
It's not the injury that has got me...it's the response to it from some of the people here.
i dont need to explain anything to those idiots that think it wasnt on purpose, but after week 13 or whatever, the steelers complained the bengals were going after rothlisbergers knee--if you think it wasnt on purpose youre the biggest idiot
Well said, Chuck E. Cheese!! THAT'S what it's all about!!
It's Pro Football! Nothing more. People get hurt...oh, well!
The 3 minutes I've spent responding to this topic is already
WAAYYYY more than it deserves. It's no big deal.
So on his way to the golf course, Palmer has to "hobble" to the
bank to deposit his $8 Million a year! Boy...now THAT'S worth
getting all choked up about!! What a joke!
And it's probably safe to say, that all those who whine & cry about
the hit being intentional and cheap (which it wasn't if they knew
ANYTHING about those involved), had a wager on Cincinnati!!
Nuff said!!
