NEEDING ADVICE from those of you out there who bet all the time, please tell me what to do about this problem........After 2 consecutive good years here at BC capping college basketball, i have been atrocious this year, hitting my only GOM but losing way way too much..........In fact, it has gotten so bad that in the past 2 weeks, i will look at at entire slate of games and see nothing i like, and there does not seem to be a cure in sight

to be honest with y'all, even though i have only posted 1 game in the last 10 days, my record is, and i am not kidding, 5-19!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank god i recognize this and know not to post during this time............

so my question is? what do you do when you are slumping so badly that you cannot even muster up the confidence to find 1 game on the slate??

GIVING ADVICE to those that followed and read our boy chung's thread throughout the day yesterday, I think it goes without saying never to do what he did. I love the guy and he is great for this forum but even though we all have to deal with the temptation of doing something like that(and probably at some level, have done similar before), there are so many reason not to do that:

1)if you do that once and you win, eventually you are going to do it and it will lose.....
2)this is a marathon not a sprint (gay cliche i know), but if you stick with this and know what you are doing, you will be somewhere around even in the long run or maybe you can win some money..........
3)from someone that has been there, look at it like drugs, there may be a decent high from winning a game like that but it is nowhere near the low that accompanies losing it, not only do you feel bad for days, sometimes more, that will affect your life and those around you; and personally you will look bad on all those days/weeks you won money and know you erased that in 3 hours
4)you arent doing this to win money........there are a few people here at BC that can probably honestly say they are up in their lifetime of gambling........all you can hope to do is be like the 10-15 people here(i wont name names, you and they know who they are) that are responsible enough to manage their gambling and their money well enough to win. personally, i can tell you in 2003 and 2004 i won a decent amount and this year i lost, and i am pretty good at this (relatively of course)...............even the best handicappers may going a lifetime and never see a streak like 'hoopsjunkie' and he is handling it with and unbelieveable amount of class........what you hope for when you see this is that he takes some of this winning and cashes out, i would hate to see this strak go by the wastewise without him purchasing something and putting some away..........'hoopsjunkie' , thank you for sharing with us your picks!!!!

5)finally, to sum it up and i know i can say this 100 times and you are still going to do what you are going to do, but take any day where you are down a big amount, and while the immediate cure is a double or nothing, there is no substitutre for just playing it out, even if at the end of the week you are still down.............understand, the worst feeling any gambler ever has is losing more than you are willing to lose and even worse when you do it on a game you did not expect too (i.e. we all know chung did not love atlanta last night, it was the only thing last and he forced it)...........when we lose our GOY's or whatever the hell we call it, it is easier to deal with , but dont look back and when someone asks you "what was the game you bet the most i your life on?" , make sure you really liked it!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, that i think about it, please share "What was the biggest bet you ever made?", i think there will be some funny stories........

    sorry so long
    b

This has been a tough early year in NCAAB....What I am going to look for the rest of the year, are the Revenge Conference Games.....I have done really well the past 10 years in Hoops and think they are the Bread and Butter of winning in this sport.....Conference games are only starting up....Hang tight and wait untill you rally like something.......

        Shorty,

I don't know if you've noticed or not, but I haven't posted an NCAA Hoops game in about 3 weeks. I am barely even taking any right now. Something's weird about this year in College Hoops.

Here's my answer to you: DON'T BET IT RIGHT NOW!

Luckily for us we still have NFL, NCAA Bowl Games, & NBA to bet on right now. There are PLENTY of guys kicking major ass right now in these 3 sports.

Now, when that "well" dries up, well the NBA won't, but the football will in about a month, then we have to decide: Do we take another stab at NCAA Hoops, or do we just stick with NBA?

I don't think I'm giving it my full attention to be honest with you, I'm too into the NBA and NFL right now, but that will change as NFL ends. Make money where you can, we have tons of games to choose from without NCAA Hoops right now.

And I did awesome last year in College hoops, just like you. Be patient my friend!

Last year...NBA... Have NO+9 against Miami... 5dimes straight up... and a 2dime 4 team parlay with 3 legs in already... Miami up by 8... 1.2 seconds left... Damon Jones hits a 3 pointer..
Why did he ever shoot the ball?? I will never understand...
+25k if i win that game...-7000+vig on the loss... you guys remember that game?

Biggest bet i ever made was 2k scariest night of my life...i was down 2100 and convinced my local to let me bet 2k on the ravens -6.5 against the browns last year (waynes GOY). I was 18 at the time so it was a shitload of money for me. Browns ran the opening kick off back, i wanted to cry. It all came down to a 2 point conversion, ravens scored a td to go up by 5...thank god the ravens went for 2. I remeber it like it was yesterday, Boller threw a fade to the left side and it was caught so they were up by7 with about 2 mins to go! Browns drove all the way down to the ravens 5, a td by the browns would have made me a loser because it would have went inot ot....garcia drops back to pass.....Interception ed reed and he took it the house! Thanks again wayne!

I stopped betting and posting my NBA games. They seemed to find a way to lose. I took about a 10 days off. I don't force the issue when I'm in a cold spell. I stop betting entirely.

Sometime we all do hit that part on the road. But, why don't just hitch hike on someone else's ride. We don't have to cap all the games. Just follow others on here.

Hoops Junkie has been doing fantastic. Just follow him. When he slip, then follow another capper. We have some of the best here. RJ, Kapt, Frank, Homer Wayne, Chuck and many others... just to name a few

So what if you don't cap the game yourself. Follow the winners.

                GL today.

Don't play your own handicapped picks!

Look for guys who are very hot and ride their picks for a while. There are certainly qualified guys on here who are hot and there are many other forums where some guys are doing well.

I've started to get a consensus group of guys that I look for on a daily basis and play their picks when more than one agree on a side. It's been working decently and I've won more than I've lost.

Continue to handicap games yourself and play them at say, $10 per play, and when the winning streak comes, go back to your own picks and press them hard. Good luck.....

                      Shorty,

We have all been there before. It will turn for you just lower your plays down bigtime. When you start hitting again. Slam them

                        Shorty,
RJeremy is right...stay away from college hoops if you don't like any games, you still have nfl and ncaa football...and from what i remember you hit your nfl goy the year last night and had a huge win (that i trailed you on) in ncaa football with iowa kicking the shit out of wisconsin a few weeks ago. stick with those two untill college hoops pan out for ya.
                        lets do this!!!

I got crushed last year- trying to figure out who is hot and apparently catchin' someone going the other way. This year is different. Hit well last weekend and stopped posting on a good note. Very rare to do that. I concur with the brothers - lower the bets to minimal until they start ringing for ya. Also start low on games on Sat and Sun and then you can easily recover as the day progresses. No more than 1/6 your bank roll on a day. I look forward to seeing your picks in the future.

He could have kneeled it and I would have only lost juice. 'Til this day, I want to kill Ed Reed. (dont tell him that, I bet he can kill me b4 I can kill him)

i have insanity lapses-you have to have a totally addictive personality to relate to the insanity of what i did the other day//as for big bets i have seen a guy wager 9000 at the half on the other side of his original bet for 6 dimes-he left himself a 12 point middle where he could have lost 15 dimes and juice-not in his favor-he won the 9 dime halftime bet-THATS THE CRAZIEST BET I HAVE EVER SEEN// I ALSO HAVE A CLOSE FRIEND FROM THE COLO. ROCKIES-OF COURSE WE CAN NOT MENTION NAMES-I HAVE SEEN HIM BET 40 COPIES ON A BUSY SATURDAY RANGING FROM 10 DIMES TO 40 DIMES EACH // A GOOD FRIEND OF MINE WAS WITH HIM IN VEGAS AND TALKED HIM INTO QUITTING WHEN HE WAS UP 350 LARGE-HE GAVE MY BUDDY 25 DIMES FOR THE ADVICE-THEN THEY PARTIED WITH SOME BEAUTIFUL SHOWGIRLS IN ONE OF THOSE WHALE SUITES ON TOP THE RIO OR THE VENETIAN-THIS HAS BEEN A WHILE BACK-DUDES IN GAMBLERS ANONYMOUS NOW AND THE BOOK LET HIM OFF THE HOOK 300 GRAND TO PAY OFF THE LAST PARTY HE THROUGH-WHICH WAS ABOUT AN 800 GRAND FEAST!! BUT SHORTY'S RIGHT YOU HAVE TO GAMBLE WITH YOUR HEAD-EVERYBODY HAS COLD STREAKS SHORTY-I THINK A LITTLE BREAK IS THE BEST THING TO CLEAR THE SENSES-POKER IS MY BEST GAME AND I WENT 10 MONTHS ONE TIME-PLAYING WITH TOTAL IDIOTS-I PLAYED THRU THE LOSING STREAK BUT BELIEVE I WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER SERVED TAKING ABOUT A 30 DAY BREAK AFTER GOING COLD FOR 3 MONTHS!!
DON'T YOU EAT THE YELLOW SNOW !! PS-MARVIN LOVES SPLIT SALAD !!
