Me personally i love the people who are so convinced for some reason that games could never be fixed. This really does amaze and makes me think that these people must truly believe that all the people involved in sports are so honest and would never do the same bad things other people in our society do on a daily basis. Anything in our society that has money involved, people will try to find a way and cheat to get that money and if you dont believe that, then you must be living in your own fantasy world.

Think about this bookies are not in gambling for vig. The super bowl takes in around 70 to 75 million a year in nevada. Do the math, lets just say the 5 to 15 million is bet on props and parlys. that leaves 60 million or so and if the money is split 50/50 on each team. The vig whould be about 6 million. With 160 sportsbooks in nevada. do the math. The amount you came up with would not pay ceasars palace light bill. Bookies needs side just the the betting public. The only difference is they set trap lines, get sports services to put out certain sides. A holding flag here and there can change the real outcome of game. Think how may gamblers win year in and out,i guess maybe on a good year maybe 3%

Anybody read Wiseguy? It's Henry Hill life in the mafia that involved the Boston College point shaving scandal?? Looks pretty good. I can't believe all of the scandals I've never really heard anything about. Just type in point shaving scandal at google and bam, you'll find shit all over the place. Northwestern, ASU, B.C., Florida St., Tulane, Michigan, and who knows where else. I think the mafia is in this BIG time. I remember on the Jim ROme show a few years back some guy that use to be in the mafia taking about shaving and he said it is definately still going on, no doubt.

Dogpick-you might think this does not make sense, but I think some players in the NBA and specifically the Lakers have not always done it for the money but for the feeling of powe,r knowing the line and knowing what they do with the basketball in the last few minutes canl determine what happens to multi thousands of dollar;don't ever forget that when you have all of the money you need, the next thing is power.

Totally agree with this. I just feel like in the NEAR future something is going to come out and the shit is gonna hit the fan in pro sports. People are going to be so outraged that they call it the WWE. You won't know what's fixed and what isn't. Just my opinion...........

I guess the point I am trying top make is that some pro athletes have the same mentality no matter how much money they make, and the thrill of having a part of whether someone else wins or loses might be enticing to some.
As I have said before, if millionaires can get try to shoplift (this is fact as some have been caught; this of course makes no sense to most of us), then I would say that the same logic could apply to some say pro basketball players whose values and/or sense of right or wrong have simply never changed from their childhood, and the challenge and thrill of trying to influence the ATS winner could outweigh any common sense.

i think the distinction that needs to be made is that is probably goes on a lot more at the college level where these kids are not getting paid (you know what i mean) vs. these professional athletes where even the bad players make zilions of dollars

call me stupid, but i really do think it is basically non-existant at the pro level whereas it definitely happens in college.....how much? i have no idea

Guys - some of these sights have props on how many points a player scores in basketball games. Ihave talked to players who have bet these - and told others to do so. they don't have to lose the game - just shoot more!!!
