i believe you definately have to be in good physical shape to drive a car at 230 mph for 4 hours straight. It must be tough on your legs, arms, back, everything. IMO, they're athletes, just not the same kind as Football players or baseball players.

Ever try and tell a high school cheerleader that cheerleading is NOT a sport and they're not athletes? Good Luck!!! Just ask BHS!!!!

IMO there's a diffence between being in good shape and being an athlete. I know lots of people who work out and stay in good shape. Some of them are horrible athletes.

I'm a father of daughter's that cheer Cheerleaders are athletes. I go to their practices. They work hard and are trained hard. Their athletic ability is amazing.

Try telling Dale Jr. that! The most popular driver in Nascar by a WIDE margin and they penalized him quick as shit last year and they said rules were rules! hahaha

Forget all that Try telling Nascar fans that Dale Earnhardt didnt die in a car wreck in the 500 but he had a heart attack behind the wheel and the Neck fans go wild on you. The one thing I hate about racing is you could be in 5th place and way back for like 80 laps, but if a caution comes out and everyone has to go their pits with like 5 laps to go, when you come back out, you're only 60 feet behind the #1 guy. You pass him up as soon as they let you go again, and all of a sudden your BEAT ASS is the winner???

True but for years after Sr. died he had a free ride.

To this day I'm convinced the July race after Sr. died was fixed No driver attempted to pass Jr. All of NASCAR. The drivers, team and officials wanted him to win.

I agree 100%. Living in Daytona I live it first hand. They have much of the town in their pocket.

The thing I hate most about racing is the point system. It's a joke! They put no premium on winning the race. The race winner gets 5 more points than the 2nd place finisher excluing bonus points. I know the point rules changed a bit last season. Two years ago Newman by far won the most races. He was no where in contention for the point title.
