I believe Spark said that an animal wouldn't have been treated this way. He's right. If an animal arrived at a shelter in the same way Terri did it would have been euthanized on the spot and not kept alive for 15 years.Love like you've never been hurt, gamble like you don't need the money

Guys- This crap drives me crazy. No one would want to be kept alive "artificially." To me, that's not what is being said here. The issue is STARVATION. I'm not arguing whether or not the parents or husband were right, I have my own opinion about that, but we don't allow PRISONERS OF WAR to be starved to death. No matter how you cut it, that is beyond cruel. There can be no argument about that.

It is a remarkable lack of morality, or perhaps just complete raping of the English language, to call food and water "artificial means." It is also a lie to say a woman was in a coma when she wasn't. Argue your case for killing brain damaged people if you will, but please try to state facts.

Sad case.
I just can't imagine anyone would want to live like that. I guess that would be my question for everyone. We all have our opinions on the parents and the husband but put yourself in Terri's position for a minute. Having to lay in a bed for 15 years straight not being able to do anything (watch TV, conversate, eat, walk around) I think that would be torture and I would beg to die!
That's just my opinion maybe some people would want to live like that and that's fine I guess the bottom line is everyone should have a will that deals with this situation.

One last time, I agree, NO ONE would want to live like that. But would you like to die like that? I certainly wouldn't want to live like that for 15 years but give me something other than starvation. It's amazing to me that animal rights activists, just to name one group, will rip someone a new one for not feeding their dog but you don't hear a peep from them in cases like this.

What's funny to me is that there are a whole bunch of self-righteous people calling the husband a murderer, the judges murderers, etc.
Then these same hypocrits go and send death threats to the husband and the judges and publish the judges' addresses and suggest that someone should pay them a visit.
Don't go jumping down my throat either. I'm not calling anyone on this board a hypocrit. Unless you were one of the people I described above.Every

By the way, my wife is an Occupational Therapist and worked in the Traumatic Brain Injury unit of a major NYC hospital for 4 years. The prevailing wisdom and the almost unanimously accepted theory on a patient in Terry Schiavo's condition is that she has no concept of fear, dying, pain, starvation or thirst, at this point in time.
Naturally, that could probably never be proven 100%, but that's what the experts say and that was my wife's observation, as well, from dealing with hundreds of these types of patients.
Because of this case, my wife and I have a meeting with an attorney, next week, to get our living wills legalized. My parents just did the same this past Monday and made me their agent.Every

How about the parents who allow there kids to get arrested by trying to bring her water. I think that is so sick! One guy had his 3 kids there I think they were like 9,10 and 12. What does this do?? If you want to demonstrate fine hold up your dam sign and if you as an adult think this issue is that important fine get arrested over it but leave the kids out of it!

The latest emergency request argued that the federal courts didn't consider whether there was enough "clear and convincing" evidence that Schiavo would have chosen to die in her current condition. Doctors say she has been in a persistent vegetative state for 15 years.
Dr. Alexander Mauskop, a neurologist and director of the New York Headache Center, said the chances are "close to zero" that Schiavo will survive, even if the tube is reattached.
Mauskop said that Schiavo's kidneys have probably failed, a condition that could not be reversed even if water supply to the body was resumed. And despite the Schindlers' claims, Mauskop said, Schiavo could not be conscious with such a severely eroded cerebral cortex.
"She's not suffering at all," he told FOX News, adding, "Maybe it would not be bad to let the parents have their child, even if it's just the body ... maybe they should have the right to come and watch her and think she's alive."
And the divide between Michael Schiavo's camp and the Schindlers' has turned even more venomous, with some accusing Schiavo of spousal abuse and blaming him for his wife's condition.
Terri Schiavo suffered catastrophic brain damage in 1990 when her heart stopped for several minutes because of a potassium imbalance, which is commonly associated with bulimia. Schiavo was overweight as a teen and lost a dramatic amount of weight when she entered adulthood. Her husband maintains she had an eating disorder.
But charges from Terri's former nurse that she was abused by her husband have inflamed those who don't believe she is actually in a vegetative state. The nurse alleges that Michael Schiavo aggravated his wife's condition shortly after she was initially hospitalized because he wanted to be free of her — invoking parallels to Scott Peterson, the California man convicted of murdering his pregnant wife, Laci.
Michael Schiavo's lawyer said Monday that an autopsy was planned to show the extent of his wife's brain damage.

My Thoughts
First of all the husband DOES want the autopsy and i also think her family and everyone else around her will sleep a little easier knowing she's at peace and maybe move on to enjoying life a little without the worries they have had for 15 years. Don't blame the husband without leaving out the whole court system and judge's that backed him.
I agree with Bry,frank, and savage here. Do i believe in starving her? No, but i don't believe in keeping people fed and alive in a warm jail cell when they have committed murder either! This issue is one that you are firmly on one side or the other but in the end i feel she is FINALLY at peace!

You want to argue that the husband is wrong for letting her "die?" What about the nutjob parents that wanted to keep her alive DESPITE the fact that there was a 0% chance of recovery?
Facts: (1) Terry did not want to live this way, (2) There was no chance of recovery, (3) 80%~ of her brain is liquid.NBA: 16-12-3
