Swami my prays go out to you and your family.

All I can say is this. To me that's not life. That's not living. If I was in that state I'd want my loved ones to let me go. That's why they now have Living Wills.

Yes, in this case. I look at it like this. I dont and wont allow anyone not my wife not my parents not anyone to let me live by artificial means. No way no how. People have the write to choose. This woman has been KEPT alive.....key word KEPT alive by artificial means for well over a decade with zero signs of improvement. At some point after all avenues are exhausted you must make the decision thats best for her. You cannot allow your own personal love/greed blind your decision to let them go. Just because someone cares/loves someone doesnt mean that they should keep them living in some hope that they will get better.

I would add that I realize this a very emotional issue and obviously open to all kinds of of debate.
I don't believe my opinion is any better or worse than what everyone else has to say about this;it is just that an opinion of how I feel.
I feel bad for the family and for that matter of anyone who has lost a loved one by any means, but I do believe in the court system and states rights also.

It's the loved ones that often have a harder time letting go than the person dying.

I've stated my opinion. I'm not about to get into a long debate over this issue. We're all entitled to our opinions.

            Frankb,

Her husband won a lawsuit back in the early 90's for just over 700k and all of that was spent on his wife's medical bills. If that is a sign of a greedy mean man than I must be the devil. He IMO did the correct thing in this horrible situation, he held on as long as he could and hoped she'd get better by some miracle but it didnt happen

She didn't live for 15 years, she was sustained for 15 years.

All I am saying and then I am done ... Bottom line, We, in this day and age, should never allow anything living to starve to death .. Gee, Gacy had a better death than this woman .. pull the plug if I am in a coma... but Christ, not starve to death ...

                  I am done !!!

Bryan and others who aren't that aware with this case.......

He actually won 2.5 million and said it was for her. Now that the money is gone, he thinks it's time to let her go? C'mon!!!!

Did you know that because that scumbag NEVER lets anyone in the room, he also did things like injecting her with insulin and other stuff, that 3 nurses came forward and even told the police that there were needle marks under her breast, and she was cold and clammy?

This asshole has wanted her dead for awhile now, and he finally got his wish. He also is trying to get a court order to have her creamated, instead of an autopsy done.

Yea, let's feel for this guy?!?!?!?!

So what is he suppose to do? You tell me. The money was for her. This all only became an issue when the parents refused to deal with reality and let her go.

You guys can say anything you would like. But I love my WIFE TO THE END OF THE WORLD. If this was me. I would have let her go along time ago. I don't care if he did it wrong or did it right to be honest. In my eye's it was wrong to have her live that way for this time. I know I wouldn't want to live that way and my wife would be Pissed if I did the same for her.

This can go on and on. But the truth is were here to enjoy our time on this earth. And you have to be kidding me if she actually enjoyed herself.

I don't agree with making her starve to death. It should have been done a different way.

the money that was awarded in a lawsuit, had to go to her care. husband did not have a choice of where to spend the money. once the money was almost gone, he remembered that she would not have wanted to live this way?? not picking sides, but he comes across as an asshole in every way, for the way he has handled this. he would not let the parents in the room at the time of death, and he kicked the siblings out of the room 10 minutes before she died?? He may have been doing the right things, but he has acted like a complete prick IMO

Let this case be a lesson to all of you.

If you don't already have a LIVING WILL signed and dated by witnesses and on file with your local hospital, Doctor or lawyer, you are all letting someone else decide what to do in cases like this.

Please make it a point to have this done so the stress and decisions do not have to fall on someone elses shoulders. I know this from experience.

Make it a point and I stress this, make it a point you do this as soon as possible before something like this happens to you.

I try to never debate politics or religion, it is a no win situation. Unfortunately this topic includes both. I, against my better judgement will give my opinion in one post and leave it at that.
First of all she was brain dead. She was not sufferring from starvation and thirst the way you and I understand it. She does not feel. The morphine shots are given to a patient in this condition, not because she is in pain but to make family members more "comfortable". This was mentioned by one of her physicians on CNN
Another point about the needle marks under her breasts. If there were any validity to that complaint the Courts would have ruled differently when the State persued the appeals based on her being a "victim" of abuse. She would have been made a ward of the state and the tube replaced.
I am married and have discussed with my wife the fact that in NO WAY do I ever want to be kept alive "artificially". (Since Dr. Kavorkian is serving a life sentence for being cruel and unusual what else is left?)
Apparently the Schiavo's had a similar discussion and that point is what this case hinged on. What right does the State have to infringe on that decision.
Another point is that her husband has given permission for the autopsy and the results will take 4-6 weeks.
Finally.... The last CAT Scan was from 2002 and it showed a "substantial" amount of brain being atrophy, 3 years ago.
                              Remember the three R's:
Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions.
