Bonds is an unbelievable baseball player. Why do people hate him because he is different. He is honest, he tells you what he thinks and could care less about what anybody thinks of him. He is a great baseball player and he has no obligation to please people off the field. Just because he does not suck up to the media and put on some show like he really cares about anyone else does not mean you should dislike him. There is no concrete evidence that he has done steroids. People seem to like athletes because of the way they are off the field and to the public. His job is not to be nice it is to play baseball and he is the best at what he does. I know he has gotten alot bigger since he has played with the pirates but how do you know that he did not do it by hard work? That might sound crazy to alot of people but its not impossible to get that big by working out.

Where the hell have you been the last few months?? He admitted to using them in federal grand jury testimony but he then said he didn't know they were steroids! Now if you believe that... fine. There have been alot of pricks in baseball and Barry is one of them that doesn't make him a bad player but when your a known cheater it doesn't help him.

JBC I'm a huge Bonds fan, just as I was a huge Strawberry fan. I don't really care about their attitudes. Mommy and Daddy and Wayne1218 are my role models. I know a lot about baseball (I still pitch at a very competitive level) and I know a lot about steroids. He may not be on steroids, per say, but he is certainly on growth hormone and has been for a while.

Most likely, he is on a combination of both, but the growth hormone is what causes the overall bone growth that he seems to have in addition to the muscle mass. He denies that his head is bigger, but he's lying.

The biggest benefit of steroids is that your body does not break down as easily. It also makes you bigger and much stronger. So when a pitcher is wearing down at game # 100, Bonds is still going strong as ever at game #100.
Sure, people will say that you still need to hit a baseball and that is correct. Steriods will also take the routine fly ball to center and out it over the fence.

It's funny that nobody supporting Bonds has denied his steroid use. The man is a cheater and how ironic is it that he may be out for the year the first year they are doing random steroid testing!

                  He is an @sshole!!

Frankly, I would prefer to see the guys stats remain as they are, and sit back and watch ALL future generations of baseball fans point to his name in the record books and say, "that guy was on steroids....... what a frickin classless loser."

His life-long journey of ignorance, will now result in a lifetime of humiliation. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Is is just me, or do we live in a messed up society?

It has multiple implications. It allows him to train harder and longer. He recovers faster between workouts. He can train bodyparts twice a week, where a non-user may only train once a week. The strength gains obviously increase his bat speed enough to allow him to hit 70 HRs.

It doesn't help his hand-eye coordination. He had that already. But because his bat speed is quicker and he's hitting so many HRs, the pitchers pitch him differently, which accounts for most of the increase in walks. There is a distinct possibility that he also became a more disciplined hitter as he got older.

But if you abuse them and overuse, eventually, your tendons and ligaments aren't strong enough to support the tremendous muscle and bone growth. That's what happened to McGwire, Caminitti and is now happening to Bonds.

I find it interesting all the people saying that Bonds/McGwire/etc shouldn't be in the Hall because they cheated. However, there are already people in the Hall that have admitted to cheating, and I don't hear people calling for their heads (i.e. Gaylord Perry).

Pete's a whole other debate, frankly, I think he should get into the Hall based on what he did on the field as a player.

I mean, really, am I going to sit here and bash someone for gambling? On "bettorschat".com? Pete deserves to be in, but I have no problem not letting him back into baseball, I could go either way with that.

I have heard two sides to the whole Gaylord Perry story and not sure he ever actually did that. But point well noted...

Perry didn't cheat every pitch of every start. With Perry it was as much mind games as to whether he actually doctored the ball. He often pretended to doctor the ball.

With Bonds every game, every at-bat he's cheating.

Besides Perry, who's admitted to cheating?
