He had the godgiven ability to be the best player of our lifetime but he blew it in my mind and if I have children and explain the great game of baseball I will not forget to tell them that his stats and Mcgwire's and a few others are tainted. I live in the hometown of Roger Maris so it hits a little closer to the heart for me.

By the way. Why was Sosa pretending not to know the english language at the hearings? I've seen plenty of interviews and press conferences with him and he seems to do just fine.

Barry Bonds is as big an asshole as his dad was. However, his dad didn't use steroids. If Barry is smart he'll get out of baseball before they really crack down on steroid users. Maybe Mark McGwire used steroids, but he was a good guy. He helped a lot of people out and did a lot for St. Louis. What has Barry done except piss everyone off? Nothing to my knowledge.

I guess he's in the Betty Ford Clinic for Steroid Rehab. I always urge people to check out Bonds' very average stats in Pittsburgh. His numbers didn't improve until he got to San Francisco which is not so coincidentally the home of BALCO.

I would agree with BIGJOHN except for one thing. I would say he is the best all-around player of our lifetime. There were probably players who did each aspect of the game better than him, but there's no one who comes close to him if you put the whole package together.

I also agree that he's an asshole and that the juice jacked up his power numbers the past 5 years, but look at this last 3 years in Pittsburgh. I disagree 100% with anyone who says he wasn't going to be a hall of famer until he got on the juice.

He was headed down that road based on his last 3 years before he signed with the Balcos.

He averaged .301, 30 HR 111 RBI 103 Runs, 45 SB per season and won 2 MVPs. He has also won 8 Gold Glove awards.
