Obviously its no secret that DEI has dominated on restrictor plate tracks in recent years, but there's not much wagering value with them.* We'll go with the boss this time and reluctantly leave out Michael Waltrip.* Tony Stewart won the Busch Series race on Saturday, and I expect him to be strong here--he finished 2nd a year ago and this is a race he's never won.* I'm looking for Dale Jarrett to have a "bounce back" year this season and a win at Daytona would start that off nicely.* This is a track that favors the experienced driver, and DJ has more experience here that just about anyone in the field.*

Drivers I'm most concerned about leaving out are Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Waltrip.* Just not enough value on these drivers to justify taking a position.* I'd rather have a nice payoff on the drivers in our mix than try to spread things too thin to cover more of the expected contenders.

Finally, we're not going to make him part of our "official" wagering mix but if you're looking for a long shot you could do a lot worse than Scott Wimmer.* Wimmer took third in the Daytona 500 last year, and 5 Dimes has him priced at 110/1 (with a number of other books showing him at 100/1).* It would obviously be an upset should he prevail, but he's a lot better driver than his price indicates and has shown he can run on this track.

Don't usually do matchups on restrictor plate tracks (nor does our RazorSharp NASCAR matchup specialist) so we'll begin matchups next week.
