If I get banned I don't care. But, this is one of the dumbest posts in history. Horrifying that some of you even think like this. I am so disappointed to see long time vets think the way they do. I have lost some serious respect to follow some people here.

If you know games are fixed, then why the F**K would you even bet on that sport? Wouldn't that make you dumb betting your money on games you know are probably fixed and you don't know which way the fix is?

Now this was to funny. Vegas was panicking by the amount of bets placed on Minny That tells me you have never ever met anyone that works in Vegas and let alone go to Vegas. You really think Vegas panics? So what'd they do, start calling the Metrodome, the refs, the team coaches Here's a fact. Vegas casinos make less than 1% of their annual revenue off sports betting. LESS THAN 1%. For every Minnesota bet placed yesterday, there was 1000 times more action on their table games and slot machines. That's the main betting place Vegas cares about. Not sports: There is only a select few gamblers that place wagers on sports compared to other gambling venues. But, on table games everyone places bets from wives to grandmothers. You ever been to Vegas? The sportsbooks are absolutely dead compared to the main casino floor. The first time I went there 14 years ago was the first time I realized most gamblers don't bet on sports. Of course Super Bowl is an exception.

Northcoast had a GOY and it drove the Vegas lines up You guys really think Vegas sits there on forums and message boards like degenerates and sees who the services have What are you guys smoking? And how can you guys not realize that 40 minutes prior to kickoff the Bears said two of their "probable" starting linesman would not be able to go.

This forum is looking more and more like childlike responses to losing games. Why can't gamblers face they didn't know jack sh*t about the game and blame it on themselves instead of justifying it with a fix?

When a team gets a back door its not cause they're going for the cover, but its because the nature of sports. Have any of you played sports before? My guess is not. Because if you have then you'll realize that no matter how much you're losing by, you never ever concede and you play to the end.

If any of you had tip on a fixed game, you wouldn't be here cause you would have made enough money off that game to retire. Actually, if you knew for a fact games were fixed you wouldn't gamble on that sport cause I doubt anyone would be so dumb to know games are fixed and still gamble knowing they could be on the wrong side of a fix

Most importantly. Do you think fixes would help casino? Are you guys so logically blinded by gambling that you can't realize that if evidence of NFL fixes come out that it would destroy sports books? All the reputation of sports books would plummet. Vegas would never be trusted again and they would lose billions and billions as the public wouldn't trust them on the tables, slots or any other venue. Vegas's catch is it's honor of paying you when you win, it's reputation, it's prestige, its opportunity. Do you think they would risk losing everything forever on a Vikings-Bear game that no one in Vegas gave a rats ass about:

The truth is there has been fixes in the past BUT by the general public and never ever has a casino ever been tied to a fix and it never will because it would kill them financially forever. WAKE THE F UP PEOPLE and realize that you lose because you can't pick em not because the games are fixed.

PS- I won't get into this, but you are WAY off saying the most heavy money of the year let alone the day was on the Vikings. NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!

In Las Vegas per se, you're right--sportsbook action is far outweighed by the number of money wagered on the tables and slots. But what about the offshores and bookies that take the vast majority of NFL action? When someone says "Vegas needs this game," they aren't referring to literally the books along the strip--they're talking about books in general, in Vegas and outside it. What do you say about the Internet books that had 60-70 percent Minny action? Or the corner bookie that has 19 guys on the Vikings and 1 on the Bears? You think these books didn't need the Bears to cover?

My local had the closing line on the Bears at +13 yesterday, and that's in the Chicago area. His original line was +12. He got pounded with Minnesota. The game was not fixed, but unquestionably the books needed Chicago to cover.

It's hard to tell from your post who you're ranting about. Regardless, I read it and mentally hear the voice of the Muppet character that is your namesake, which makes it doubly irritating.

yeah...I admitted I was incorrect there on 3,7, and 10 in the pros. In college it IS a bad bad because the #'s DO cluster around the # far less frequently.

At the risk of being "outed" like you mentioned. I believe your post is right on. IT killed me yesterday to see TICE fake a FG on 4th and 1 inside the 20 (if you're gonna go for it, put that Mountain Culpepper in the backfiled and run over somebody), don't let Gus "the self inflicted concussion" Ferrotte throw the damn thing.

And then, to see Culpepper kneel on it at the 5 (THREE TIMES) to end the game was even more infuriating. Sour grapes? You're damn right, but to imply the game (or any other NFL game) was fixed...Come on....we weren't FIXED....we were just stupidded!!

Lastly, you are very right when you point out that Vegas handles less than 1% of the football action laid in this country. Estimated total handle worldwide last year was $320 BBBillion. and frankly, the sportsbooks in the major casinos are more accommodations for their players than they are bottom line contributors. Anyone having ENOUGH influence over that or any other NFL game makes way enough money legitimately to not risk everything on a point shaving scandal. If fixes still occur, college BB is the most likely suspect...not the NFL.

                  BGH

of course they need the Bears to cover BUT they also needed a ton of other teams to cover that didn't. IT ALWAYS EVENS OUT. Once people realize the power of the Vig and that's how the casinos make money, then they'll understand. Why do casinos win in any game? Because the odds are on their side. So, what's the advantage of sports? The 10%. I've said this before that gamblers have the greed mentality and they can't comprehend what a huge number 10% is, but 10% of millions and millions is a huge number. These people win because they know how to run a business not because they have the gamblers mentality

                    VEGAS does have NEEDS

Piggy, the art to running a sportsbook is balance....and yes there are a number of games every year where they get out of balance and can't find enough layoff. At the end of the day though, those games in which Vegas has a financial (side) interest will even themselves out.

CB, excellent thread and very interesting... This is strange because I just came across this post from another site... If the person that wrote this visits this site also I hope you do not mind too much that I post this here....

Thursday I was told by a "connected" source that up to 12 Boston College players were going to throw Saturdays game against Wake.As many here who know me I live in Boston and am an avid B.C. fan, going to many games, and betting many more.At first I was leary of such an accusation but was then told the story of how they roped in some of these young kids through moneis owed.I was told this was the betting oppurtunity of a lifetime, but to go out of state with any large wagers.I know of a few flights to Vegas made by some heavy hitters here in Boston to make bets as not to hurt the locals.I myself did not bet this game, but knowing this as I watched made me uneasy to say the least.Kicker misses 3 field goals, actually punted twice for 2 and 5 yards, starting running back goes down with an ankle sprain[late in game],safety completly blows the coverage on winning T.D.Then the last drive, dropped ball cutting across the field wide open, right throuh his hands[would have been big gain],center throws ball wide on shotgun snap, holy shit. Then my phone rings, and the person on the other end wants to know if I had a bet down on Wake, scary.Done betting College ball FOREVER.Saving my wagers on the MILLIONAIRES who reside in the NFL.Peace

Next time you get a tip like that, email me, will you? lol!

I remember a Georgia Tech/North Carolina Thursday night game like 6-7 years ago, when I was just starting to dabble in this insidious hobby. One of my friends--a heavy hitter, as you would say--called and asked if I was on Tech, who was heavily favored. I said yes, probably. He told me that he had "reliable information," for which he had paid a fair amount of money, that Tech was going to sabotage the cover. So I put the $25 or so that I was betting per game at the time on NC. Lo and behold, late in the game, a Tech defender commited an odd-appearing late hit out of bounds that enabled Carolina to score late and cover the spread (they still lost the game). Fishy. . . .

Here is my opnion I dont not believe pro games are fixed because the pros make sooo much money they have no reason to fix games. College games i think are definitly fixed because college players get paid nothing and they have people offering them big sums of money for fixing a game. As far as the minnesota game i did not see the game but minnesota was ahead by two scores with only a couple of minutes left. Minnesota probably went into a prevent defense and the prefent defense isnt made to stop a team its made to eat up the clock in a prevent defense they will gladly give the opponent a 5-10 yard pass down the middle.
