a very bad 0-3 night last night. We bounce back huge with outrpre-season GOY!

                          10* Pre-Season GOY 10*
                          WASHINTON (-3.5) over Carolina
teams playing their 2nd pre-season game versus those playing their 1st game hold a neat 53-32 ATS edge since 1983 - Including 42-18 ATS if they are favored by less than four points. Revenge from both a 20-0 pre-season blanking and a 20-17 regular loss last year cements here. Make no mistake about it, this is it.

                              AUG: 8-4

                              8-14-04- Yankees v. Mariners
                              Winner: Over 8.5

REASON: I think we found a loop hole. The Yanks can score and score big. They scored 11 runs last night and that was without ARod and their hottest bat John Olerud. Not to mention Olerud has a score to settle with the Mariners. Remember they were the team that released him just a few weeks back. Both those bats are going to be in the lineup to face Jamie Moyer. You saw what the Yanks can do against left handed pitching (ie Villone). Then you switch over to Loaiza. He is not doing bad for the Yanks but his ERA with the club is 6.75. Combined Moyer and Loaiza have a 26-19 record in over-unders. Add this to both teams bullpen ERA's in the last 3 (4.58 and 5.81) and you have a score well over the 8.5 mark.

                              ------------------------------------

                              AUG: 4-7

                              We're on a 83-53-2 run.

For Saturday go to pro football and take Carolina to beat Washington.

Carolina is coming off the best season in franchise history. Jake Delhomme will start with quality backups Rodeny Peete and Chris Weinke. Which will follow Delhomme first is not known but both are qualified to run the offense.

Washington already has one game under its belt after beating Denver 20-17 on Monday. Joe Gibbs will likely use this game to answer the questions that were not answered on Monday. It may mean less of the starters after seeing starter Jon Jansen go down due to injury early in Monday's game.

Expect Carolina to look to make a statement early letting the league know that last year was not a fluke. This game is much more important to Carolina and they will win.

Cowboys @ Texans: Bet the Under 33 total points at -107

THIS FREE PICK IS PROVIDED COURTESY OF MASTERBETS, THE SPORTS HANDICAPPING SERVICE.

Vegas oddsmakers, God bless 'em and keep 'em, realized a while back that the first round of exhibition games tend to be a little light when it comes to combined points, mainly because everyone is rusty, inept, and unable to move the ball unless by accident. But even Vegas cannot set a line low enough for this game as far as we are concerned. The Cowboys and Texans are capable of limbo-ing below 30 in this spot, mainly because we're not sure how either team will score here. The Cowboys bring an excellent defense and zero offense to the table, which cancels out the Texans decent offense.

Both of these coaches emphasise defense, and Parcells for one will be taking this game very seriously, which means a lot of committed D and tryouts for the offense, which is almost guaranteed to be very scrappy. We'd be genuinely surprised if this game hits 25+ combined points, never mind 33+.

                                AUG: 7-5

Detroit and Anaheim over 9 -110

Anaheim has been a good bet to go over at all year going 59-52 over on the year. The Angels have pounded lefties having hit over .300 in the last 10 games. Robertson was Detroit's most consistent starter but he has hit the skids in his last three starts. Detroit hasn't won one of those games. Ortiz hasn't been much better with a 4.35 ERA in his last three. He did win two of those games so I like his run support.

Lets get back on track with my free winners. I am on a 34-19 run my last 53 and to be honest with you, I would like to get to 40 wins before 20 losses. That means I need 6 in a row. Here we go.

I am going to ride the Padres again tonight. They are just on fire. I know Lawrence has struggled recently but he loves to pitch against the Reds. He is 3-1 with a 3.68 ERA. On May 12, Lawrence limited Cincy to seven hits and a run over six innings of a victory.

Acevedo, who has lost his last four decisions, is 0-1 with a 10.38 ERA against the Padres in his career. On May 13, Acevedo was touched for five hits and seven runs, while walking five in a loss to San Diego. You think the Padres rolled large last night, wait until the explode all over the Reds and Acevedo tonight.

                                2* SAN DIEGO
