    WinOnBaseball.com - Saturday - 8/14/04

Welcome to our first annual service free trial!

-- WinOnBaseball handicaps Major League Baseball exclusively.

-- All plays with analysis, along with current and past season records, will be updated weekly on the "Records" page of our website.

-- All records will be documented at National Sports Monitor (*********.com)

-- NEXT UPDATE will be sent before 6:00am Pacific on Sunday, August 15th.

    Season record: 208-211 -20.17 UNITS

    OVER 9 NYY (LOAIZA)/SEA (MOYER) -109 - 2 UNITS - 1:05pm Pacific
Loaiza has given up 4 or more ER in each of his starts since the beginning of June. Over that period of time, he has posted a 6.15 ERA. He has definitely lost some velocity off of his fastball, and there's talk of moving him to the bullpen once Mussina returns. He also hasn't fared well against the Seattle hitters; they all have done extremely well against him over their careers. The Yankee hitters have also hit Moyer very hard. They have already faced Moyer twice this season, and he has a 7.94 ERA in those two starts. Moreover, in day games this year, Moyer has a 6.38 ERA and his given up 5 more HRs despite pitching 22 less innings.

    UNDER 10 SF (LOWRY)/PHI (MILTON) +102 - 1 UNIT - 10:20am Pacific
Although they didn't show it last night, San Francisco hits poorly on the road. Lowry, a former first round pick, has looked great so far. He's a lefty, and the Philly lineup hasn't done too well against lefties this year. And although some has touted Citizens Bank Park as "Coors Field East," in actuality it's been only 2% easier to score there than any other NL park.

    OVER 9 HOU (HERNANDEZ)/MON (ARMAS) +118 - 1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific
Both starters are rehabbing injuries. Hernandez will be making his first major league start of the year after a couple of solid performances at Triple A. In those games, his was clocked only in the mid-80s. He's a lefty, and Montreal has been terrible against lefties, but Hernandez is probably not in top form yet. Armas missed his last start and threw a bullpen session on Thursday, in which his pitching coach commented "he's a little rusty." Houston should be able to score some runs off of him.

    KC (ANDERSON) +190 over Oak (Harden) - 1 UNIT - 1:05pm Pacific
Since adopting a new delivery, Anderson has given up 0 ER in 16 IP. On paper, Anderson should match up well against Oakland, as the A's usually have problems against lefty flyballers. Due to the park factor, a flyballer usually isn't hurt by pitching at Oakland. Harden has looked good as of late also, but +190 is too generous here.

    OVER 9 DET (ROBERTSON)/ANA (ORTIZ) -118 - 1 UNIT - 7:05pm Pacific
Robertson has been slumping big time, and he hasn't shown any signs of coming out of it. With a shaky bullpen behind him, the Angels have a nice opportunity to score some runs. Ortiz has been pretty decent since being inserted back into the rotation, but he has faced some weak offenses, including Seattle twice, KC, and Minnesota. Detroit has been hitting very well on the road, and Ortiz shouldn't be too much of an obstacle for them.

Oakland Raiders at San Francisco 49ers
          Saturday, August 14, 2004 8:00 P.M. EDT EST

The Raiders lost at home to the 49ers in preseason last year. Expect the Raiders to return the favor in San Francisco this preseason. Expect the 49ers to make costly unforced errors throughout the game on offense. They are 22-26 ATS in preseason since 1993.
          Good Luck -Ken A.

Vegas Experts Tip of the Day

St. Louis Cardinals at Atlanta Braves, Saturday, August 14, 2004, 1:20 P.M. EDT EST

The Cardinals continue to roll. They are 28-7 over their last 35 games including 13-3 on the road. Jason Marquis would like nothing better than to beat his old team. The Cards are 6-2 in his road starts this year. The Braves are 8-5 when Russ Ortiz starts at home but that breaks down to 4-1 when he's priced at -160 or higher, 4-4 when priced at Pick Em, a small underdog or a favorite of -150 or less.

            Play on: St. Louis

How many preseason GOYs willBig Al have?

Knowing I will be accused of beating yesterday's dead horse, "Big Al," who released a "preseason TV Game of the Year" and got crushed 24-0 Thursday with Atlanta, released his "Preseason Game of the Year" last night on the Eagles. It, of course, also lost.

How many games of the year will Big Al release in pre-season play?

                      a) 1. (Already a wrong answer)
                      b) 2. (He's already up to two and more than half the teams in the league haven't played one game yet)
                      c) 3. (Today is Saturday and he's cranking them out a rate of one a day. Maybe Big Al confuses Game of the Year with Game of the Day)
                      d) 4.
                      e) 27.
                      f) However many it takes until he actually wins one and can then brag "I hit my preseason Game of the Year!"

How many threads will people create.......

About Big Al? You right Griswold, I am going to be the first to bitch about it. You should be happy that he has so many, fade them and you would have won 2 GOY in a row, 3 if you count his GOY on baseball. At least post these threads in the right spot and don't clutter this forum (I see if has been moved!). GL!

From now on they are going into the sports services thread. People that go there and like the thread and services can respond there. I'm getting sick of this crap being posted in the all sports discussion as well. Nothing like giving al free advertising......... Does he sponsor here or something???? NO!
