-- WinOnBaseball handicaps Major League Baseball exclusively.

-- All plays with analysis, along with current and past season records, will be updatedÊweekly on the "Records" page of our website.

Ê-- All records will be documented at National Sports Monitor (*********.com)

--ÊNEXT UPDATEÊwill beÊsent beforeÊ6:00am Pacific onÊWednesday,ÊAugustÊ4th.

      ÊSeason record:Ê193-197Ê -Ê19.91ÊUNITSÊÊÊ

      ÊCLE (ELARTON) +150 over Tor (Batista) - 1 UNIT - 4:05pm Pacific

On the surface, Batista has put up some decent numbers recently.Ê However, an examination of his strikeout rate, control rate, dominance, and command, combined with an increase in workload, point to a pitcher that is wearing down.Ê I'm not counting on Elarton to win this one, but I think Cleveland's bats can hit Batista.Ê They have performed well on the road, as well.Ê

      Ê

      ANA (LACKEY) -115 over Min (Silva) - 1 UNIT - 5:10pm Pacific

Lackey has been getting better with each passing month, and turned in his best performance of the year against Texas in his last start.Ê His trends have been favorable, and I expect him to continue with his solid play.Ê Silva has been mediocre, and the Angel bats should be able to handle him.Ê

Phillies are a sinking ship. Going 3-7 in their last ten. They are 24-28 on the road and 15-20 in opening games of a series..Phillies starter B.Myers has a 5.60 ERA on the year and a 5-8 record. The Padres are 4-3 on their homestand and need to makeup ground. Lawrence is 1-1 in his last three with a 3.20 ERA and is 11-7 on the year. Padres are 30-24 at home this year and are 18-16 in opening games of the series. Padres are 5-5 in their last ten. The Padres have the better pitching and in the dog days of summer that's when you need it most.

                              MASTERBETS
Pirates (Perez) @ Dodgers (Penny): Bet the Under 7 total runs at -125.

Our free MLB picks cashed in over 80% in the month of July. Over the last 2 months our FREE baseball picks are now 18 - 5, or over 78% winning plays, which is quite remarkable. This game between the Pirates and Dodgers is being nationally televised on ESPN so we are releasing this pick free of charge as a way of showcasing our premium service to the general betting public.

The Over / Under line has been set at 7 total runs, and while this may seem very tight to play the Under a cursory analysis of the starting pitching matchup indicates that it is the only play to make. Perez is having a breakout year, and his electric stuff has already caused the Dodgers a lot of problems. His lifetime mark against LA is 2-1 with an ERA of 2.10 - it appears likely that runs will be at a premium with Perez on the mound tonight. The Dodgers unveil their latest signing, Penny, and in all honesty he should thrive here. The knock on him is that he runs out of gas a little prematurely, rarely going beyond 7 innings. This was a huge problem in Florida this season as they had no decent middle-relief or set-up men to bridge the gap between Penny and Benitez. The Dodgers have a better bullpen, which can protect him, and Penny has pitched well against the Pirates this season. This should be a very low-scoring affair, with possibly as few as 4 total runs.
