    JEFF BENTON

    Complimentary Selection

I know you enjoyed another free winner last night with the Texas Rangers. I am now 12-4 last 16 free releases. That is a nice little run isn't it? Lets keep it going tonight.

Are you ready for Chi town tonight? Good ole John Lackey battles newly acquired Freddy Garcia tonight and good ole Freddy couldn't ask for anybody better to halt this 3 game losing streak for his new team.

The Venezuelan has been great in 18 career starts against the Angels, going 10-2 with a 2.48 ERA. He will own Anaheim once again tonight.

Lackey has been a roller coaster ride of inconsistency all year. He is 5-8 overall with an era of just over 5. Against the White Sox he has gotten ripped and I do mean ripped.

Ttwo career starts against the White Sox, going 0-2 with an 11.42 ERA in those outings. Like I said, the Angels and Lackey are just what Freddy Garcia and Chicago ordered for a win tonight.

We're on a 66-36-2 run with our last 104 complimentary releases including a 5-0 run after Los Angeles beat Arizona on Monday.

For Tuesday take Boston to beat Oakland.

The Red Sox have struggled lately but this game will be ideal for them to get on track.
Tim Wakefield is 4-4 with a 4.27 ERA but his ERA over the last three games is down to 3.50 in three no-decisions.

Barry Zito is struggling with a 4-5 record and 4.41 ERA. Those numbers are similar to Wakefield's but much more is excepted of Zito.

The home team has won seven of the last nine between these teams and the Sox have won five of the last six against the A's.

Boston is a solid 25-14 at home this season. These teams have played over in their first three meetings this season but this will be a low scoring battle with three or four runs more than enough to win.

Boston will win this pitching dual.

            2 Units on Kansas City Royals +190 (Greinke - R, Santana - L)
UPSET DOUBLEHEADER (Part 2): The reeling Royals are 1-10 ever since trading star OF Carlos Beltran. Last night, they were blanked 9-0, as Brad Radke won his first game for the Twins since late May. So why am I siding with struggling Kansas City tonight? The main reason is because the Twins simply do NOT score enough runs on a nightly basis to be laying this much wood. Another reason is because KC's Zach Greinke (3.58 ERA) is one of the best young prospects pitching in the majors. All you need to know is that Greinke STRUCK OUT a season high SEVEN batters last time out, while issuing ZERO walks. It is not often that you get a 190 underdog pitcher with an outstanding strikeout-to-walk ratio. Yes, Johan Santana of Minnesota is the AL leader in strikeouts, however, he just happens to be finally coming off his first LOSS in a solid month. More importantly, Santana does NOT pitch well against Kansas City, posting an ERA of more than SEVEN in a pair of shots against them this season. In losing 10 of the past 11 contests, KC has not even come close, getting outscored by a combined 87-30 count. However, my database research tells me that Kansas City is a stunning 7-1 the game after being SHUTOUT in a DIVISIONAL loss!!!
