                east coast comp line

Too bad brian mac has such little regard for his own word. When he says he is going to do something on a certain day you can bet it will not happen. Even with his paying customers his word is unreliable.

                  RFC-You got that right.
Even when he runs consensus and says he will post at a certain time, you can usually add on at least an hour to the time he says he will post.

Animal 4* by request for late game

                      4* San Francisco

Los Angeles started 2004 by winning five of the first six meetings with San Francisco. But the Giants have turned their fortunes around head-to-head in this series by winning the last two nights. SF finally regained first place in the NL West last night and are looking to put the Dodgers in the rear view mirror. I just can't see Jeff Weaver as the type of guy that is ready to beat the Giants at SBC Park, where SF is 13-1 recently. Weaver's road ERA is 5.08 and he's 0-2 in away night games this season. Note the Giants are 8-1 in their last nine games. Remember how streaky this team is as they've already posted a 10-game winning streak in 2004. The Dodgers are now a game under .500 on the road and 5-10 here the past two seasons. LA went through four relievers last night, none of which were especially effective. So much of this heated rivalry is about momentum and make no mistake about it, the Giants have "UNCLE MO" squarely in their hip pocket. I expect SF to go to 24-8 in their last 32 with a win tonight. The home team is now a remarkable 52-28 with Jim Reynolds as the home plate umpire (9-5 this year). At 52-28 let's not kid ourselves. Reynolds has to be the kind of ump that gets caught up in home-team environment. The Dodgers and Giants in the bay area tends to be a very special environment with plenty of enthusiasm. Historically, Weaver has an ERA of 7.50 in his two starts against San Francisco. But more importantly he wilted in pressure-packed situations at Yankee Stadium and has really only looked good in his youth at Detroit with virtually nothing at stake. At this point it's almost incidental who the SF probable is but Jerome Williams has a superb 0.658 WHIP in two career starts against LA. Although is doesn't hurt to know the Giants are 9-1 at home with Williams the last three years when the posted total is 8 ½ or higher. Lay it with the Giants.
