    FRIDAY

you're 100% right about the humor in that NBA post...It's a classic example of overtalking, overselling, and maybe overconvincing yourself the play is right...Cockiness also puts the "Kiss of death" on you...

What ever happened to the picking of games, brief notes to why and how you derived that play, no trash, no slang, just picking...

Thank you for their plays, and the HUMOR, and all your help in the past....I've come to enjoy the input of "OleBlueEyes"...OBE...he puts out good reports and seem to have savvy...All of you guys are great...Thats what this forum is about..

Thanks everyone for a smooth, informative, rantless day...Spark...me mate...has to go now...thanks matey...scurvy be gone....TOF

yep, still around after 31 yrs. check out their website. they really know how to handicap baseball. their newsletters are always informative and rarely can you find mistakes. I get the weekly baseball letter online and now that they have a site, they give out one game a day (usually an actual play from their "late phone service").

one thing that they're doing real well with is what they call their ultra sharp plays. they are 9-1 in their last 10 baseball totals. if anyone get's these please post. since this is a new system, they offer a week of these games for $20. damn, I wish I would have gotten them this week. here's what they've documented for the 9-1 run:

IT'S A FACT, JACK. WP Ultra-Sharp members are rolling in winning Baseball Totals picks, including last night's one-shot steal with UNDER 11 in KC-Tex!

WP Ultra-Sharp tells you everything you need to know. Who, what, when, where and why. And it wins, too. What more could anyone want from their sports information advice? Sample it for a week for only $19.95!

Ah, the line moves UP because of all the Overs that KC has played on the road (13 of 18), and the anticipation of sheep-like bettors following the herd. A look at the numbers on the surface show Texas scoring 9 runs per game against lefties at night, which the amateurs would take as an Over sign as well because the Royals are throwing lefthander Gobble. But part of that average is a 16-15 game in which half of the Rangers' runs were scored off righthanders in the Detroit bullpen. Another home outing vs. lefties saw them get a bunch of unearned runs off a shaky Barry Zito.

It's a distorted number that plenty of players will just take at face value. Meanwhile, Chan Ho Park, the Texas starter, has only made two home starts this season. Both went UNDER.

RESULT: WON. 5-3 ROYALS. Gobble went 6 1/3 and allowed only 3 runs to the ''heavy-hitting'' Rangers. Park allowed two solo homers and a three-run shot by Juan Gonzalez, but for the most part kept guys off base. Speaking of guys being 'off base,' that's what you say about anyone who had liked the 'Over' in this game!

              Chicago WS at Cleveland
Ten-and-a-half is a lot of runs for a team (Chicago) that has problems scoring runs away from home. The White Sox have played 11 UNDER games out of 14 away from Comiskey and they don't have much of a read on Durbin, today's Cleveland starter who has made only one start this season.

RESULT: WON, 4-2, well UNDER the number. Other places were touting the OVER as a lock in this game because of Durbin. They thought they knew something about him based on one bad start this year. They don't know half of what Winning Points members get to know.

              Kansas City at Texas
Royals have one of the worst pitching staffs in baseball and their road games have a ratio of 12 OVER to 5 UNDER. Dickey (Tex) and Affeldt (KC) hooked up in K.C. last month for a 3-2 game. Now that the hitters have seen them once, they figure to be battered like dough.

              RESULT: WON. 7-6.

''Radke on the Road.'' Don't get mad, get Brad. The guy's average road start is going UNDER the total by a run-and-a-half, and overall, his average start is going UNDER by a run. His last two road starts were 2-1 and 3-0 wins. Radke's run support figures to be lacking once again because half the Twins lineup is injured and the guys from the minors who were picking up the slack for a while are due to regress.

RESULT: LOSS, 9-5. Oh well, can't win 'em all. The bullpens let this one explode late.

Two good pitchers, Penny and Williams, in St. Louis in the daytime. Night games tend to have more runs scored in Busch.

              RESULT: WON. FLORIDA, 3-2.

Sheets is the Brewers' best pitcher and the teams figure to bounce after scoring all those runs (17) yesterday. Sheets is a good pitcher off a bad outing and has thrown 6 UNDERS vs. 2 OVERS this season.

RESULT: WON. Holy Sheets! Another UNDER for Ben, as the Brewers' stopper does his job, 4-1, on a 3-hitter!

Moyer is pitching for the Mariners and the Yankees -- with an influx of new, right-handed hitting pop in the lineup this season -- are killing left-handed pitching in Yankee Stadium. Jeter and A-Rod can take this guy's junk and destoy it into the gaps.

RESULT: WON. The Yankees destroyed Moyer and others, with 5 home runs. They even lost the game, that's how OVER it was, 13-7 Mariners!

Pettitte of Houston, a brittle pitcher off a huge outing, bounces against a team whose hitters he doesn't know very well. Meanwhile, the Mets throw James Baldwin, who may as well have a ''Hit Me' sign taped to his back while he is out on the mound.

RESULT: WON. ASTROS, 7-4. Trying to sneak Baldwin past our totals people is like trying to sneak the sunrise past a rooster.

Marlins ace Josh Beckett has made only two starts on the road so far this season, and one of them went UNDER in Atlanta when Chipper Jones was missing from the Braves lineup. The other was in a hitter's ballpark in Colorado and the game went OVER.

This is another hitter's park, and the Cardinals are throwing a #3-4 type starter.

              RESULT: WON. Cardinals, 6-3.

The Peavy kid on the Padres has thrown a heck of a lot of UNDERS so far this season -- 5 of them in 7 starts. But some of the opposing pitchers were ace Randy Johnson, ace Al Leiter (nothing but 1- and 2-run games in his first five starts), Livan Hernandez of the light-hitting Expos, and ace Jason Schmidt of the Giants. This situation is different. The other guy is Acevedo of the Reds, a so-so starter whose team has lost all three of his road starts this season, in which the other side scored 6 runs each time.

RESULT: WON. Reds have now lost all 4 of Acevedo's road starts. Padres won 8-2, an OVER game despite yet another good outing by Peavy.
