Friday’s List of 13: Random stuff with weekend here…….

    13) ESPN’s Mark Jackson is much better as an analyst in a 2-man booth than a 3-man booth; he tells some terrific stories when he has more airtime.

In 1986, Jackson led the nation in assists; one of his teammates (Walter Berry) won the Wooden Award, symbolic of the year’s best college player, so obviously St John’s must’ve had a damn good season (they went 31-5), but this was the year after Chris Mullin went to the NBA and apparently there were internal issues with the team.

In their fifth game of the year, St John’s was nursing a late lead and Jackson was dribbling so he would get fouled, make foul shots and preserve the lead, but Berry wanted the team to give the ball to him so he could score more, and from that point on, from the end of the fifth game to the 36th game, Berry and Jackson never spoke again that season. You just never know.

    12) Monday night, Enes Kanter had 23 points, 24 rebounds off the bench for the Knicks, as well as seven assists. Kanter is the first NBA player since Charles Barkley in 1986 to have a 20-20 game, and also have 5+ assists, in a game he didn’t start.

    11) In the Atlanta Hawks’ arena, you can get your haircut during the game. Not sure why you would pay major bucks to watch an NBA game, then spend even more money to not watch the game while they cut your hair. Then again, I don’t have much hair to cut.

    10) Speaking of the Hawks, Atlanta coach Lloyd Pierce was a college teammate of Steve Nash in his playing days at Santa Clara.

    9) Kansas City Chiefs outscored opponents 93-20 on the first drive of each half; thats 18 drives for each team.

    8) Miami Dolphins are only NFL team that hasn’t scored a point on their first drive of a game this season: nine drives, 42 plays, 198 yards, no points. No bueno.

Jets kicked only one FG on their first drive of a game, but they also gave up a defensive TD, so they’ve actually been outscored 7-3 on their game-opening drives.

    7) Minnesota Vikings are playing better recently; in their last three games, the Vikings scored TD’s on their first drive of the game, going 68-91-65 yards for those TD’s.

    6) Rich Gannon was working the Charger-Seahawk game Sunday; Sebastian Janikowski was kicking for Seattle. Way back in 2000, Janikowski’s rookie year in Oakland, Gannon was the first holder Janikowski had during preseason, but Gannon said he was so bad at holding, they told him to forget about it and make punter Shane Lechler the holder.

    5) Boise State is a home underdog to Fresno State tonight, first time the Broncos have been a underdog on the Blue Turf since 1999.

    4) Pittsburgh Steelers are only team in NFL with only one divisional game left. Everyone plays a divisional game in Week 17.

    3) Last time Alabama had a Senatorial election, Nick Saban got 19,000 write-in votes. If he ever somehow got elected, Saban would have to decline; quite a pay cut from the $8M a year Saban makes now to the $175,000 or however much a senator makes.

    2) How would you like to be the person who ran for assembly in Nevada, and lost to a dead guy?

72-year old Dennis Hof owned a brothel that was featured on the HBO show Cathouse; he passed away October 16, but he still won an election Tuesday in Nevada’s 36th Assembly District against Democratic educator Lesia Romanov.

    1) Le’Veon Bell posted a couple of Tweets this week with the text upside down; not sure how or why he did that, but it does look pretty cool.

If Bell doesn’t report to the Steelers by 4:00 Tuesday, he can’t play this year, so he won’t make any of his $14.55M salary and he defeats the purpose of his holdout. Hopefully he is getting good advice, but that doesn’t seem too likely, unless he just doesn’t want to play anymore

      *******************************

      Fresno State at Boise State
      Brian Edwards

Boise State hasn’t been a home underdog since facing Boston College in the 2005 Humanitarian Bowl in the last game of the Dan Hawkins Era. The Broncos haven’t been home ‘dogs in a regular-season game since the 2001 opener vs. Washington St., and they haven’t been home puppies in a conference game since taking on Nevada in 1999.

Nevertheless, Bryan Harsin’s team will be in that role Friday night at Bronco Stadium when Fresno State (8-1 straight up, 8-1 against the spread) comes calling in a rematch of last year’s Mountain West Conference Championship Game at this same venue on the smurf turf.

As of early Thursday night, most betting shops had Fresno State installed as a 2.5-point road favorite with a total of 53. BSU was +125 on the money line (risk $100 to win $125).

Jeff Tedford returned to his alma mater after a dreadful 1-11 campaign in 2016. He quickly turned Fresno State into just the second FBS team to go from double-digit losses to double-digit wins in the span of one season. Since Tedford took over, Fresno State has compiled an incredible 18-5 SU record to go with a 18-3-2 ATS mark.

Two of the losses came in back-to-back weeks last year at top-ranked Alabama and at sixth-ranked Washington. The Bulldogs took the cash in both instances, however.

Fresno State opened the season with a 79-13 home win over Idaho before dropping a 21-14 decision at Minnesota in Week 2. Since then, the Bulldogs have won seven games in a row both SU and ATS, with each victory coming by at least 18 points. They’re off a 48-3 win at UNLV as 27-point road ‘chalk.’

Senior QB Marcus McMaryion, the transfer from Oregon State who is in his second season as a starter at FS, completed 26-of-35 passes for 274 yards and two TDs with one interception. He also rushed for 39 yards on seven attempts. KeeSean Johnson had eight receptions for 97 yards, while Michiah Quick had five catches for 49 yards.

FS is ranked 11th in the country in scoring with its 40.4 points-per-game average. McMaryion has connected on 70.9 percent of his passes for 2,416 yards with a 20/3 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He has rushed for 157 yards and seven scores, averaging 3.7 yards per carry.

Johnson, a first-team All-MWC selection in 2017, is on his way to duplicating those honors. He has 62 receptions for 858 yards and six TDs. Jared Rice has 38 catches for 477 yards and three TDs, while Jamire Jordan has caught 20 balls for 279 yards and two TDs.

Sophomore RB Jordan Mims has rushed for 306 yards and four TDs, in addition to making 19 catches for 274 yards and two TDs. Another sophomore RB, Ronnie Rivers, has 265 rushing yards and five TDs with a 5.9 YPC average. Rivers has 10 catches for 167 yards and two TDs.

FSU is ranked 14th in the nation in total defense, 16th at defending the pass, 30th in run defense and second in scoring ‘D’ (12.3 points per game). This unit is led by junior LB Jeff Allison, who has recorded 84 tackles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions for 27 return yards, two QB hurries, one pass broken up and 0.5 sacks.

Tedford’s bunch is 4-1 both SU and ATS in five road games, including a 38-14 win at UCLA, a 21-3 victory at Nevada and a 38-7 triumph at New Mexico. As a road favorite on Tedford’s watch, the Bulldogs have produced a 5-0-2 spread record.

Boise State (7-2 SU, 4-4-1 ATS) is 4-1 in league play, trailing Utah St. by one game in the MWC’s Mountain Division. The Broncos will host the Aggies in both team’s regular-season finale on Nov. 24, so they need a win over FSU to keep control of their own destiny to get back to the MWC Championship Game.

Since dropping a 19-13 decision to San Diego St. as a 13.5-point home favorite on Oct. 13, BSU has won four consecutive games. However, the Broncos have merely one cover in that span and are mired in a 1-3-1 ATS slide. They failed to get the money in last week’s 21-16 win over BYU as 11.5-point home ‘chalk.’

BSU jumped out ahead of the number in the first quarter, going ahead 14-0 on an Alexander Mattison one-yard TD run and a seven-yard TD pass from Brett Rypien to A.J. Richardson. The Cougars would get a pair of field goals in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 14-6 at halftime. Then when Zach Wilson scored on a four-yard TD run midway through the third quarter, BYU was down by only one point.

Boise St. would answer with a Mattison three-yard TD run with 1:44 left in the third quarter. BYU got a 41-yard FG with 6:32 remaining, but that was as close as it would get. The 37 combined points went way ‘under’ the 53.5-point tally.

Mattison rushed for 89 yards and two scores on 25 carries, in addition to catching five balls for 40 receiving yards. Rypien completed 23-of-35 passes for 214 yards with one TD and an interception. Richardson had four catches for 53 yards and one TD.

Rypien is second in school history in career passing yards behind only Kellen Moore. He has completed 67.7 percent of his passes for 2,779 yards with a 24/6 TD-INT ratio this year. Senior WR Sean Modster has 45 receptions for 660 yards and four TDs, while Richardson has 39 grabs for 653 yards and eight TDs. Junior WR John Hightower has 30 catches for 496 yards and six TDs, while C.T. Thomas has 30 receptions for 397 yards and three TDs.

Mattison has run for a team-best 726 yards and 10 TDs while averaging 4.1 YPC. Hightower has rushed eight times for 163 yards and a pair of scores.

BSU has won three of its four home games while compiling a 2-2 spread record. This is obviously the first home underdog situation since Harsin took over for Chris Petersen in 2014.

When these schools met in last year’s regular-season finale, Fresno St. won by a 28-17 count as a seven-point home underdog. The victory gave FSU the MWC’s West Division title and forced a rematch in Boise the following week.

The 45 combined points in the first encounter at Bulldog Stadium dipped ‘under’ the 50-point total. McMaryion threw for 332 yards and two TDs without committing a turnover, while Johnson had six receptions for 119 yards and two TDs. Rypien threw for 278 yards without a TD or a pick, but Mattison was limited to 63 rushing yards and one TD on 15 totes.

BSU avenged the loss by winning 17-14 as a 9.5-point home ‘chalk’ in the MWC Championship Game the following week. The ‘under’ cashed for a third straight time in this rivalry when the 31 combined points dropped below the 50.5-point tally.

Fresno State led 14-10 at intermission, but the Broncos got the game-winning points on Ryan Wolpin’s two-yard TD run with 4:42 remaining. Rypien threw for 246 yards without committing a turnover, while Mattison ran for 50 yards and one TD on 14 attempts. McMaryion struggled by completing only 16-of-34 throws for 172 yards and zero TDs compared to one interception. He ran for 33 yards and two scores on seven carries.

The ‘under’ is 5-4 overall for FSU, 4-1 in its road assignments. The Bulldogs have watched their games average combined scores of 52.8 PPG.

The ‘over’ is 5-4 overall for BSU, 2-2 in its home outings. The Broncos have seen their games average combined scores of 61.7 PPG.

Kickoff is scheduled for 10:15 p.m. Eastern on ESPN2.

      **B.E.’s Bonus Nuggets**

-- Boise State LB Riley Whimpey will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL sustained in last week’s 21-16 home win over BYU. Whimpey was leading the Broncos in tackles with 55. He also had two sacks, one TFL, two QB hurries and one PBU.

-- The ‘over’ has hit at a 9-2 clip in BSU’s past 11 games played on Friday.

-- Ohio State is mired in a 0-5 ATS slide. As of Thursday night, the Buckeyes were 3.5-point road favorites for Saturday’s showdown at Michigan. They are 3.5-point home underdogs to Michigan in their regular-season finale at several books in Las Vegas and offshore.

-- The ‘over is on a 5-0 run for Louisville, which is a 21-point underdog for Friday’s game at the Carrier Dome against Syracuse. According to a report this week, as many as 20 U of L players have expressed interest in transferring when the season ends.

-- The ‘under’ is on a 5-0 run for California, which has held its past three foes to 36 combined points. Justin Wilcox owns a 10-4 ATS record as an underdog. The Golden Bears were five-point underdogs for Saturday’s game at Southern Cal, as of late Thursday.

-- The ‘over’ has cashed at a 5-1 clip for Notre Dame in its past six games. However, the ‘under’ is 4-1 for the Fighting Irish at home. They host FSU on Saturday and are expected to do so without star QB Ian Book (15/4 TD-INT ratio), who was ruled ‘out’ early Thursday due to an injury to his ribs. The ‘over’ is also on a 5-1 run for the Seminoles, who moved from 18-point underdogs to 16.5-point puppies after the new of Book’s injury broke. They’ve gone 1-3 both SU and ATS in four previous road assignments. This game will kick at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on NBC.

-- Utah QB Tyler Huntley is out for the season with a broken collarbone sustained in last week’s 38-20 loss at Arizona State. Huntley had completed 63.9 percent of his passes for 1,762 yards with a 12/6 TD-INT ratio. He had rushed for 304 yards and four TDs. Since four-star 2018 recruit Jack Tuttle decided to transfer last month, the back-up duties fall to RS freshman Jack Shelley, who has completed 6-of-14 passes for 99 yards with zero TDs and one interception. Shelley has 47 rushing yards on nine attempts. If Shelley gets injured, Kyle Whittingham would have to turn to WR Britain Covey or LB Chase Hansen, both of whom played QB in high school. Covey is the Utes’ top WR with 49 receptions for 529 yards and one TD. He has completed all three of his pass attempts for 71 yards and two TDs without an interception. The Utes had been on fire with four consecutive wins both SU and ATS (and by margins of 19, 32, 13 and 31 against Pac-12 competition) before going to ASU. Now they’re in bounce-back mode with Oregon coming to Rice-Eccles Stadium this weekend.

-- Stanford TE Kaden Smith has 44 receptions for 601 yards and two TDs for the season. The third-year sophomore is turning it up the past two weeks, catching 17 balls for 219 yards and two TDs. Smith and the Cardinal host Oregon St. this week. Smith’s 25-yard reception on a fourth-and-10 play was crucial in Stanford’s 15-14 come-from-behind win in Corvallis last season. His production will be even more important Saturday vs. Oregon St since the Cardinal will be without WR J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, who is ‘out’ with an ankle injury. Whiteside has 48 receptions for 754 yards and 11 TDs.

-- Temple RB Ryquell Armstead is ‘questionable’ at Houston due to an ankle injury. Armstead has run for 768 yards and six TDs this season.

        • College football: No. 13 Syracuse beats Louisville 54-23
          November 9, 2018
          By The Associated Press

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) Moe Neal rushed for a career-best 159 yards and two touchdowns, quarterback Eric Dungey ran for two more scores and passed for another, and No. 13 Syracuse took advantage of five Louisville miscues to rout the Cardinals 54-23 on Friday night.

The Orange (8-2, 5-2 ACC, No. 13 CFP) scored 27 points off five Louisville (2-8, 0-7 ACC) errors, rushed for 292 yards and accumulated 518 yards of total offense. Syracuse finished the season unbeaten in six games in the Carrier Dome for the fourth time since the building opened in 1980.

The Cardinals were penalized 17 times for 125 yards, and Syracuse picked off two Louisville passes. Louisville also lost two fumbles and their quarterbacks, under pressure most of the game, were sacked five times.

The win was the fourth straight for the Orange, while Louisville lost its seventh straight. The eight wins tied the most victories for Syracuse in a regular season since 1998.

          Louisville's three quarterbacks were a combined 14 of 31 for 210 yards.

The win sets up a showdown for the Orange next Saturday against No. 3 Notre Dame at Yankee Stadium.

            Saturday’s List of 13: Clearing out a cluttered mind……..

            13) Last summer, CBS Sports polled more than 100 coaches asking them to identify the most powerful person in college basketball; Mike Krzyzewski, John Calipari and Big 14 commish Jim Delany finished 1st-3rd, and a guy I never heard of finished 4th.

Bret Just used to be a high school coach; now he’s an agent for three NBA coaches, two NBA GM’s, Geno Auriemma and a bunch of other college coaches, including Andy Enfield, Chris Beard, Frank Martin. There is a tournament in Kansas City in a couple weeks where all four coaches are Just’s clients.

Influential guy, the Scott Boras of basketball coaches. Now I know his name.

            12) Texas 73, Arkansas 71 OT— Longhorns’ Kerwin Roach stuck a 3-ball in transition with 0:01 left to tie the game 63-all, after Texas trailed almost the whole game, which was played on a military base at Fort Bliss in Texas.

            11) Ravens’ QB Joe Flacco has a hip injury and may not play next week against the Bengals. Rookie Lamar Jackson would start if Flacco can’t.

            10) Dez Bryant signed with the Saints Wednesday, then tore his achilles in practice Friday.

            9) Five biggest upsets in college football so far this season:

Old Dominion (+27.5) 49-35 over Virginia Tech
Oregon State (+24.5) 41-34 over Colorado
            BYU (+22.5) 24-21 over Wisconsin
            Akron (+21.5) 39-34 over Northwestern
Wake Forest (+19.5) 27-23 over NC State

            8) Pretty cool Thursday night on the Clippers-Blazers TV broadcast; with TV guy Ralph Lawler retiring after 40 years behind the mike, Lawler’s wife Jo joined her husband and Corey Maggette on TV for a few minutes during the second quarter, which led to a lot of laughter.

It has been great fun listening to Mr Lawler’s good natured broadcasts over the years on NBA League Pass. It helps that the Clippers are improved under new owner Steve Ballmer.

            7) Obscure Stat of the Day: Since 2000, 54 NFL teams scored 50+ points in a game; those teams went 52-1-1 against the spread. The ’13 Cowboys (-7) beat Denver 51-48 but did not cover.

            6) There is a great article about friendships in the NBA on thescore.com If you follow the NBA or sports of any kind, this is interesting information.

            5) JJ Redick plays for the 76ers but lives in Brooklyn with his wife and kids, which seems odd. He must like riding on trains, assuming that is how he commutes.

            4) Learned something yesterday about the wild fires in California; fires move faster going uphill because the wind goes with it; not so much going downhill.

Scary stuff, watching houses and towns in danger of being destroyed. Hope everyone is OK.

            3) Stony Brook 83, South Carolina 81— Seawolves beat George Washington in their opener, pulled a second upset here. Good news for the America East Conference.

            2) Joe Mauer retired after 15 years in the big leagues. I happened to be watching the Twins’ last home game in September; when Mauer went to 1B, his kids went out there too— you kind of figured that was it for Mauer, at least in Minnesota.

            1) Jim Calhoun coached his first game for the St Edward’s Bluejays last night; the 76-year old Calhoun is now a D-III coach, six years after he left UConn. St Edward’s beat William Paterson 79-74. Calhoun mustn’t have enjoyed being on TV very much.

            • Total Talk - Week 11
              November 9, 2018
              By BetDSI

              CFB Week 11 Total Talk

Last week's Total Talk piece ended up going 2-1 against the number if you followed the moves/best bet, but you probably lost a few pounds from all the sweating you did in the process.

The UCLA/Oregon game which had opened at 57 and got pushed up to 62.5 by writing time, ended up finishing with 63 total points in the 42-21 win by the Ducks. That victory by Oregon officially got them bowl eligible and it spoiled Chip Kelly's return to Eugene, so all in all it was a good day for Ducks fans.

The lone loss came in the Stanford/Washington game as those two teams combined for 50 total points. That result eclipsed the opener of 47.5, so it's not like following the move at a lower number burned you, but Stanford finding something on offense in the 2nd half, when they scored all 23 points, was the reason that 'under' play failed to find the cashier's window.

And finally, despite seeing some key guys go down with very serious injuries (QB Tyler Huntley and RB Zach Moss) the Utah Utes were able to pull their weight enough in a 38-20 loss at Arizona State to see that game sail over the total of 56. The loss was disappointing for Utes fans in more ways than one, as they now sit tied atop the Pac-12 South division and will be without their starting QB and RB for the remainder of the season.

This piece is not about SU wins and losses though as we want to see points (or lack thereof), so let's get right to this week's movers.

              Odds per - BetDSI.eu

              Biggest Movers to the 'Over'

Virginia Tech vs Pittsburgh: Open: 51.5 – Current: 54

The ACC Coastal division is a mess right now as teams battle for the right to get beatdown by Clemson in the ACC title game, and coming into the Week it's the Pittsburgh Panthers who hold the edge thanks to a single conference loss. But Virginia Tech is just one game back in that regard and an upset win this week against Pitt would put the Hokies right back in that conversation.

Given how chaotic games involving ACC Coastal teams have been so far this year, it's not too surprising to see a move to the 'over' in this game, as neither side can instill much confidence defensively to get the necessary stops to keep this game below the 50's. Pittsburgh's defense has been great on the road in their last two trips away from home, but they've given up 37 and 45 points in their last two home games and still won those by at least a TD.

However, the only 'over' Virginia Tech has cashed away from home this year came in their shocking loss to Old Dominion, and since that time they've made sure to play much better defense away from home, allowing just 14 and 19 points in their two outings as visitors since. That would suggest a move like this isn't completely warranted, especially if you are of the mindset that the stakes on this game for both sides will bring an elimination type atmosphere, but I'm more inclined to follow this move.

For one, betting percentages at VegasInsider.com currently show overwhelming support (80%+) on the 'under' for this game and the number has still moved a full FG higher. That's some significant line movement there as there are clearly some bettors out there expecting this game to reach the high 50's rather easily, and it's tough to argue against that. Both sides know that their defenses are suspect at best, and if they aren't getting stops early, turning to try and win a shootout-type game isn't a horrible idea.

Pitt is on a 12-3-2 O/U run after allowing 19 points or less in their last outing, so it's not like their defense knows how to double up on quality performances, and the last time these two programs met in Pittsburgh we had a wild 39-36 game unfold. I'm not sure we see that many points this week, but right now, the 'over' is the only way I'd look in this game.

              Odds per - BetDSI.eu

              Biggest Movers to the 'Under'

Northwestern vs Iowa: Open: 47.5 – Current: 42

Speaking of division leads on shaky ground, over in the Big 10 West we've got a Northwestern program currently atop that division on the strength of one conference loss, going out on the road as a double-digit 'dog in Iowa this week. The Hawkeyes are sitting on three defeats in the Big 10 so they'll need to win out and get some help.

Iowa has lost this matchup outright the past two seasons, last year in OT as a small road dog, and two years ago as a home favorite of the same number they currently sit at this year (-11). Two straight losses at Penn State and at Purdue have put the Hawkeyes behind the eight-ball in the Big 12 West, but they've got a favorable schedule the rest of the way (vs Illinois and Nebraska after this week), and who knows how other games shake out ahead of them. But I'm not sure this total is in the bettable range anymore because it doesn't take much for a college game to creep over a low 40's number, even with two defensively-minded teams involved.

Iowa's been a team that's seen 'under' love all yearlong with four of their totals closing at 44.5 or lower, but the Hawkeyes do own a 3-1 O/U record in those games. They were able to blank Maryland (23-0) the last time they were at home, but Northwestern has so much more at stake and has not scored fewer than 17 points in conference play all year long.

Give the Wildcats 17 points this week and assume the -11 spread on Iowa is accurate, that projects out to a 28-17 final score, one that would get 'over' the current number and burn steam chasers in the process. Unless this total climbs back up above 45 or so, it's probably best to stay away from the 'under' now.

              Odds per - BetDSI.eu

Best Total Bet for Week 10

UCLA vs Arizona State Over 61.5

This play was on the chopping block in terms of a move to the 'over' as it did open up at 59, but last week's results by both sides did nothing to make me believe these two won't put up 30+ on each other. UCLA is still a program building for the future and the offense has to continue to make strides. The 21 points they put up on Oregon wasn't tremendous, but the fact that they were able to find consistency in their attack with a TD in each of the final three frames was a positive.

Similar success should be had against the Sun Devils this week as ASU has grown comfortable playing games where each side approaches 30 points. ASU's last three SU wins have all cashed 'over' tickets, and as a double-digit home favorite this week, it's not that hard to project another SU victory coming their way.

The 'over' has cashed in six of the last eight meetings between these two schools, and UCLA is on a 7-3 O/U on the road as well. Arizona State – who is building for the future as well – have a 5-0 O/U run going at home against a losing team, and they don't strike me as a team that will completely shut down their opponent offensively while potentially covering a two-TD spread. This game has all the makings of one that could end up being similar to UCLA's game a week ago with ASU hitting 40+ like Oregon did and the Bruins finishing in at least the mid-20's.

              • Clemson at Boston College
                November 9, 2018
                By Brian Edwards

                Matchup: Clemson at Boston College
Venue: Alumni Stadium, Chestnut Hill, MA
                TV/Time: ABC, 8:00 p.m. ET

Clemson will take its undefeated record to Chestnut Hill on Saturday night to face Boston College in a crucial ACC showdown. As of early Friday night, most betting shops had the Tigers installed as enormous 19-point road favorites with a total of 55.5. The Eagles were +800 to win outright (risk $100 to win $800).

While most are focused on Clemson (9-0 straight up, 5-4 against the spread) remaining unbeaten on the way to another College Football Playoff berth, Boston College is hoping to win out and steal the Tigers’ spot as the ACC Atlantic’s representative in the conference championship game.

Steve Addazio’s team is 4-1 in ACC play with a road game at FSU and a home scrap with Syracuse in the regular-season finale on deck. Since losing a 28-23 decision at North Carolina State on Oct. 6, BC has ripped off three consecutive wins both SU and ATS. The Eagles are off last week’s 31-21 win at Va. Tech as two-point road underdogs.

Boston College (7-2 SU, 7-2 ATS) trailed 14-7 at halftime in Blacksburg, but it scored 21 unanswered points to take a 28-14 lead with 8:51 remaining in the fourth quarter. After the Hokies responded with a touchdown with 4:48 left, BC put the game away with 2:31 remaining on Colton Lichtenberg’s 28-yard field goal.

A.J. Dillon led the way by running for 96 yards and one TD on 24 carries. Sophomore QB Anthony Brown connected on 15-of-26 throws for 177 yards and one TD without an interception. He also rushed for 37 yards on seven totes, while Travis Levy produced 75 rushing yards and a pair of scores on 11 attempts. Tommy Sweeney caught four balls for 61 receiving yards and Korab Idirizi had two receptions for 49 yards and one TD.

Dillon, a first-team All-ACC selection as a true freshman in 2017, was playing in his second game after missing back-to-back contests with a sprained ankle last month. He rushed 32 times for 149 yards and one TD in his initial return on Oct. 26 when BC dropped Miami, 27-14.

Dillon has rushed for 897 yards and eight TDs, averaging 5.5 yards per carry. Ben Glines has 376 rushing yards and three TDs with a 5.6 YPC average. Glines also has nine receptions for 123 yards and three TDs.

Brown is vastly improved in his sophomore season. His touchdown-to-interception ratio has improved from 11/9 to 16/5. Brown has completed 57.9 percent of his passes for 1,567 yards. Sweeney is his favorite target, hauling in 24 receptions for 230 yards and three TDs. Kobay White has 19 catches for 298 yards and three TDs, while Jeff Smith has 17 grabs for 275 yards and a team-best four TDs.

BC is unbeaten in five home games with a 4-1 spread record. This is the Eagles’ second home underdog spot, as they were 3.5-point puppies in the win over the Hurricanes two Fridays ago. During Addazio’s six-year tenure, BC has compiled an 8-8 ATS record as a home 'dog.

Clemson has a 4-0 SU record and a 3-1 ATS mark on the road. As road favorites since Dabo Swinney took over midway through the 2008 season, the Tigers have gone 16-18 ATS.

Swinney’s team has dealt out four straight pimpslaps since needing a fourth-quarter rally to nip Syracuse, 27-23, as a 24-point home favorite back on Sept. 29. Clemson has breezed to victory at Wake Forest (63-3), vs. N.C. State (41-7), at FSU (59-10) and vs. Louisville (77-16), beating the closing spread by 110 combined points.

Trevor Lawrence was named the starting QB over Kelly Bryant on the Monday before hosting The ‘Cuse. Bryant elected to transfer and retain a year of eligibility after getting the demotion. Lawrence was knocked out of the game against the Orange with a head injury in the first half.

The true freshman QB has done nothing but deliver since returning the following week at Wake Forest. Lawrence threw for a career-best 314 yards and four TDs without an interception in the beatdown of the Seminoles in Tallahassee. For the season, Lawrence has connected on 65.1 percent of his throws for 1,549 yards with an 18/3 TD-INT ratio.

Tee Higgins has 35 receptions for 514 yards and seven TDs, while Justyn Ross has 22 catches for 476 yards and five TDs. Amar Rodger has 32 grabs for 390 yards and four TDs, and Hunter Renfrow has caught 27 balls for 305 yards and one TD.

Clemson is ranked seventh in the country in total yards, 30th in passing yards, sixth in rushing and fourth in scoring with a 47.8 points-per-game average. The Tigers are four-deep in the backfield with Travis Etienne serving as the featured back. Etienne, a second-team All-ACC pick as a true freshman last season, has rushed for 999 yards and 15 TDs. He has an incredible 8.6 YPC average on 116 attempts.

Lyn-J Dixon has 457 rushing yards, four TDs and an eye-popping 11.1 YPC average. Senior Adam Choice (7.9 YPC) has turned 45 carries into 354 rushing yards and three TDs, while Tavien Feaster has produced 294 rushing yards and four TDs with a 6.3 YPC average. Feaster ran for a season-best 101 yards and two TDs on merely six attempts last week, but he sustained a concussion that has him listed as ‘questionable’ at BC.

Clemson is ranked fifth in the nation in total defense, 18th at defending the pass, eighth in run defense and fourth in scoring ‘D,’ holding opponents to 13.3 PPG. This unit is led by a defensive line that’s stocked with future NFL players.

Junior DE Clelin Ferrell, a first-team All-American in 2017, has recorded 31 tackles, 7.5 sacks, five tackles for loss, four QB hurries, two forced fumbles and a pair of passes broken up. Senior DT Christian Wilkins, a third-team All-American in 2016 and a first-team All-ACC pick last year, has produced 29 tackles, 6.5 TFL’s, 2.5 sacks, four QB hurries, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Clemson is second in the nation in TFL’s with 89 and third in sacks with 32. The Tigers are +3 in turnover margin, while BC is +8.

In addition to the iffy status of Feaster, Clemson starting OG Sean Pollard (back) and CB Mark Fields (groin) are listed as ‘questionable.’ Dillon’s ‘probable' status is the extent of BC’s injury report.

The ‘over’ is 5-4 overall for the Tigers, 4-0 in their road assignments. They’ve seen their games average combined scores of 61.1 PPG.

The ‘over’ has hit at a 5-4 overall clip for the Eagles, going 4-1 in their home contests. They’ve watched their games average combined scores of 61.3 PPG.

Clemson has won seven games in a row over BC, but the Eagles are 4-1 ATS in the past five head-to-head encounters. The Tigers captured a 34-7 victory last year, but they were unable to cover as 33.5-point home ‘chalk.’ This was an extremely misleading final, too, as the game was knotted at 7-7 until Choice scored on a six-yard TD dash with 11:59 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Etienne rushed for 113 yards and two TDs on nine carries, while Renfrow had six receptions for 53 yards. Dillon was held to 57 rushing yards and one TD on 18 attempts. Brown completed just 14-of-30 throws for 133 yards with one interception.

According to weather.com as of early Friday evening, Saturday night’s forecast was calling for clear conditions and temperatures in the 30s. However, winds are expected at speeds of 10-20 miles per hour and “could occasionally gust over 40 mph.”

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Eastern on ABC.

UCLA at Arizona State (No national TV, 2:00 p.m. ET)

The Bruins are not going to be eligible for a bowl, so it will be interesting to see how they respond in their first game since losing a seventh. Will they have pride down the stretch and play hard, relishing in the role of spoiler? Or will they mail it in? The Sun Devils are double-digit favorites in this one, as they're very much still alive for a spot in the postseason, as well as the Pac-12 Championship Game. Technically, UCLA could still wiggle their way into the title game if things break a certain way, but they likely squandered their chance last week. UCLA is 2-5 ATS in the past seven league games and 3-8 ATS in their past 11 road outings. The Sun Devils are 4-1 ATS in their past five home games and 6-2 ATS in the past eight inside the conference. The 'over' has connected in four of the previous five battles in this series.

Washington State at Colorado (ESPN, 3:30 p.m.)

The Cougars head to Boulder looking to add to Colorado's woes. They're on a four-game losing streak, and the troubles of the Buffs has coincided with the absence of Laviska Shenault Jr., who has missed four games due to injury. He is considered a game-time decision, and could give Colorado a huge boost if he plays. Washington State escaped with a win against Cal last week, and it was their first time in nine games where they failed to cover the spread. They're 4-0 ATS in their past four road games and 5-1 ATS in the past six against winning teams. Colorado is 3-8-1 ATS in their past 12 against winning sides, and 5-11-1 ATS in the past 17 games inside the conference. The over has been a popular result for both sides. The over is 18-5 in Washington State's past 23 on the road, and 7-2 in their past nine against winning teams while hitting in six of the past eight in the conference. While the under is 10-2 against a team with a winning record, the over is 5-2 in their past seven at home.

                  Oregon at Utah (Pac-12 Network, 5:30 p.m.)

Utah suffered a disappointing loss last week, but they are still in OK shape for the Pac-12 South title. They need to keep winning. Unfortunately for Utah, they have a tough Oregon team paying a visit to Rice-Eccles this week. Someone is gonna be left shaking their head with a fourth loss, as the Pac-12 continues to cannibalize itself. Oregon enters 3-7 ATS in the past 10 games overall, and 1-6 ATS in their past seven on the road. Utah is 4-1 ATS in their past five in the league, 4-1 ATS in the past five at home and 21-8-1 ATS in the past 30 against winning teams. They're also 4-1 ATS in the past five after a straight-up loss. In this series, the underdog is 4-1 ATS in the past five meetings with the road team cashing in four of the past five. The over has also hit in five of the past six in the series.

Oregon State at Stanford (No national TV, 9:00 p.m.)

The Beavers are done in terms of the bowl picture, but they could play spoiler and really take a lot of money out of the pocket of Stanford with a win on 'The Farm'. Vegas isn't expecting that, as the Cardinal are favored by as many as 24 points at some shops as of late Friday night. The Beavs are 3-8 ATS across the past 11 games, and 1-9 ATS over the past 10 inside the league. They're also 1-5 ATS in the past six overall. Stanford has not been their usual dominant self, but they're still 19-7-1 ATS in the past 27 against teams with a losing record and 5-2 ATS in the past seven inside the league. While the under is 12-5 in the past 17 meetings in this series, the over is the play lately for both. The over is 10-1 in the past 11 on the road for OSU, 10-3 in their past 13 overall and 7-3 in the past 10 league games. The over is 5-1 in the past six overall for Stanford, too.

California at Southern California (ESPN, 10:30 p.m.)

Cal hits the road for USC, and someone is going home with a fifth loss. Vegas expects it will be the Golden Bears limping home, as the Trojans are a slight favorite at home. However, Cal is 5-1 ATS in the past six road outings and 6-2 ATS in the past eight against winning sides. They're also a perfect 5-0 ATS in the past five in November. USC has liked November lately, too, going 7-1-1 ATS in the past nine in the month, but they're just 5-15-1 ATS in the past 21 overall and 1-5 ATS in the past six at home. The under is 5-0 in Cal's past five, 6-0 in their past six on the road and 5-0 in the past five inside the league. The over is 4-1 in the past five at home for USC and 7-3 in their past 10 against winning teams, but the under is 6-1 in their past seven at home against the Golden Bears. The road team is 15-7 ATS in the past 22 meetings, but the Golden Bears are just 2-7 ATS in the past nine in this series.

                  • SEC Notebook - Week 11
                    November 9, 2018
                    By Brian Edwards

                    Vanderbilt at Missouri**

-- As of early Friday night, most betting shops had Missouri (5-4 straight up, 5-4 against the spread) favored by 16 points with a total of 63. The Tigers were 17-point ‘chalk’ on Wednesday and the total was 62, so there’s been a little bit of line movement. The Commodores were +600 on the money line (risk $100 to win $600).

-- Barry Odom’s team is 3-2 SU and 4-1 ATS at home this season. Mizzou has gone 2-0 ATS as a double-digit favorite.

-- Missouri picked up its first SEC win of the season last week by going to The Swamp and destroying the Gators 38-17 as a 6.5-point road underdog. The Tigers were led by Drew Lock, who had an abysmal 1/5 touchdown-to-interception ratio in his team’s first four SEC games. Lock completed 24-of-32 passes for 250 yards and three TDs without a turnover against the Gators. I don’t think the return of top target Emanuel Hall can be overstated. Hall, a first-team All-SEC selection last year, had missed five games in a row before catching four balls for 77 yards and one TD at UF.

-- Lock has completed 62.1 percent of his passes for 2,394 yards with a 19/6 TD-INT ratio. He finished 2017 with a 44/13 TD-INT ratio. The senior signal caller is second in school history in career passing yards with 11,089. With four games remaining, Lock needs to throw for 1,426 more yards to break Chase Daniel’s record. Hall is Lock’s favorite target with 22 receptions for 507 yards and four TDs in just four games played.

-- Mizzou is three-deep in the backfield with Larry Rountree and Damarea Crockett getting the bulk of the load with help from Tyler Badie. Roundtree has 666 rushing yards and nine TDs with a 5.5 yards-per-carry average. Crockett has run for 577 yards and six scores, averaging 4.7 YPC, while Badie has 348 rushing yards, one TD and a 5.0 YPC average.

-- Vanderbilt (4-5 SU, 5-4 ATS) needs two more wins to garner the second bowl bid of Derek Mason’s five-year tenure. After facing Missouri, the Commodores will host Ole Miss and Tennessee. They’ve had two weeks to prep for this spot after winning their first SEC game at Arkansas by a 45-31 count as one-point road favorites. Ke’Shawn Vaughn returned to the lineup to explode for 172 rushing yards and three TDs on 26 carries. Senior QB Kyle Shurmur hit on 13-of-19 throws for 192 yards and two TDs without an interception. Junior TE Jared Pinkney had five catches for 93 yards and two TDs.

-- Vaughn was enjoying a huge game when he was injured in the second quarter vs. Florida on Oct. 13. Vandy led the Gators 21-3 when Vaughn went down and eventually lost a 37-27 decision as a nine-point home underdog. The transfer from Illinois missed the 14-7 loss at Kentucky the following week. For the season, Vaughn has rushed for 667 yards and eight TDs with a 6.8 YPC average. He also has seven catches for 131 yards and one TD.

-- Shurmur is one of the SEC’s top QBs who I believe has a future in the NFL, where his father is the head coach of the New York Giants (for now). Shurmur has completed 60.0 percent of his passes for 2,037 yards with a 14/5 TD-INT ratio. He’s been the victim of many drops from a young group of wideouts. Shurmur has two extremely talented targets in Pinkney and New Orleans native Kalija Lipscomb, who has 58 receptions for 632 yards and six TDs. Pinkney has 30 catches for 485 yards and five TDs.

-- Vandy has lost outright in three of four road assignments, but it has produced a 3-1 spread record. Since Mason took over in 2014, the Commodores have been excellent as double-digit underdogs with a 13-8 spread record. They’re 2-1 ATS in three such spots this season. As a road underdog of any amount during Mason’s tenure, Vandy has compiled a 12-11 ATS mark.

-- The ‘under’ is 6-3 overall for the Commodores, 3-1 in their four road assignments. They’ve seen their games average combined scores of 50.7 PPG.

-- The ‘over’ is 5-3-1 overall for the Tigers, 3-1-1 in their home outings. They’ve seen their games average combined scores of 63.3 PPG.

-- The SEC Network will have the telecast at noon Eastern.

                    **South Carolina at Florida**

-- Much of the speculation in Gainesville this week had been about who would be under center for the first snap at the quarterback position. That conundrum is no longer in play after third-year sophomore QB Kyle Trask broke his foot at Wednesday’s practice. Trask, who looked sharp in relief of Feleipe Franks in last week’s 38-17 home loss to Missouri, will miss the rest of the season.

-- Trask promptly marched UF down the field for a TD drive when he was inserted in place of the ineffective Franks. He completed 10-of-18 passes for 126 yards and one TD without an interception. Franks had struggled mightily against the Tigers, hitting on just 9-of-22 throws for 84 yards. So just when Trask appeared to be on the cusp of his first career start, his entire season is over. Franks will be backed up by true freshman Emory Jones, who UF head coach Dan Mullen still plans on redshirting. Jones has played in two games so, per the new redshirt rules, he can play in two of the Gators’ four remaining games. This means that WR Kadarius Toney, who was an elite QB at the prep level and threw a TD pass in his only attempt this year at Mississippi State, will have to be the back-up QB in two of UF’s remaining contests.

-- As of Friday, most betting shops had Florida (6-3 straight up, 6-3 against the spread) installed as a six-point home favorite with a total of 54. The Gamecocks were +200 on the money line.

-- Since starting the season 6-1 both SU and ATS, UF has lost back-to-back games by lopsided margins vs. Georgia (36-17) and vs. Missouri. On the flip side, USC has won consecutive contests vs. Tennessee (27-24) and at Ole Miss (48-44). Trailing the Rebels by 10 early in the fourth quarter last week, the Gamecocks scored 14 unanswered points on a three-yard TD run by A.J. Turner and four-yard scoring scamper by Jake Bentley to secure the outright victory as two-point road underdogs.

-- South Carolina (5-3 SU, 4-4 ATS) and UF have both been eliminated from the SEC East race. Both schools are sitting at 4-3 in SEC play, making this a battle for third place in the division. Will Muschamp’s squad has won two of three road assignments both SU and ATS this year, while the Gators are 3-2 both SU and ATS in five home games.

-- South Carolina is on a 6-1 ATS roll in its past seven road contests. When listed as a road underdog on Muschamp’s watch, USC is 6-4 ATS. However, the Gamecocks have covered the number in their past five such spots with three outright wins.

-- Muschamp has faced his former team twice since taking over in Columbia. Florida won a 20-7 decision as a 12.5-point home favorite in 2016, with the 27 combined points dropping ‘under’ the 38-point total. Jordan Scarlett led the Gators with 134 rushing yards on 20 attempts. Jake Bentley, then a true freshman making his fourth career start, completed 18-of-33 passes for 213 yards with one interception. Deebo Samuel had four receptions for 53 yards, while Bryan Edwards had two catches for 37 yards.

-- In last year’s rematch at Williams-Brice Stadium, USC captured a 28-20 victory as a 4.5-point home ‘chalk.’ The 48 combined points slipped ‘over’ the 41.5-point total thanks to a UF score with 3:43 remaining. The Gamecocks enjoyed a 24-12 advantage in first downs and a 469-301 edge in total offense. Bentley threw for 249 yards, but he was intercepted three times to keep UF in the game. He did run for a pair of TDs, however, but he has a 0/4 touchdown-to-interception ratio in two games against UF. Turner produced 136 yards on 22 carries and Mon Denson ran for 61 yards and two TDs on 13 attempts. Turner also caught three balls for 36 yards, while Edwards had three receptions for 48 yards. Franks was yanked after completing only 10 of his 25 passes for 174 yards with one interception.

-- The road team is 3-1-1 ATS in the past five games in this rivalry. The ‘under’ is 4-1 in the last five head-to-head meetings.

-- Totals have been an overall wash for USC (4-4), with the ‘under’ going 2-1 in its three road outings. The Gamecocks, who have seen the ‘under’ cash at a 4-2 clip in their past six contests, have seen their games average combined scores of 58.9 points per game.

-- Totals have been an overall wash for the Gators (4-4-1), too. The ‘under’ is 3-2 in their five home games. UF has seen its games average combined scores of 51.7 PPG.

-- Trask is the only new injury for Florida. The same can’t be said for the Gamecocks, who are dangerously thin in the secondary after losing two more safeties to season-ending injuries last week. Those players would be Jaymest Williams and Javon Charleston. Williams had recorded 32 tackles, two passes broken up, one tackle for loss and one interception.

-- Junior RB Rico Dowdle and senior LB Bryson Allen-Williams are listed as ‘questionable’ at UF. Dowdle has rushed for 495 yards and three TDs with a 5.1 yards-per-carry average, but the Gamecocks have excellent depth at RB with Turner, Denson and Ty’Son Williams.

-- ESPN will provide television coverage at noon Eastern.

                    **Mississippi State at Alabama**

-- Nick Saban’s dynastic 12-year run at Alabama continued last week, as he tortured his former team yet again in a 29-0 win at LSU as a 14.5-point road favorite. The Crimson Tide beat the Tigers for the eighth straight time since losing a 9-6 decision at home in overtime of the 2011 season. It was a dominant performance with ‘Bama enjoying a 29-13 advantage in first downs and a 576-196 edge in total offense. The Tide ran for 281 yards with a 7.6 YPC average, while LSU was held to 12 rushing yards on 25 attempts. Tua Tagovailoa completed 25-of-42 passes for 295 yards and two TDs, but he was intercepted for the first time this year. He had a 44-yard TD run as well, while Damien Harris produced 107 rushing yards and one TD on 19 carries. Jerry Jeudy had eight receptions for 103 yards.

-- As of Friday, most spots had Alabama (9-0 SU, 6-3 ATS) listed as a 23-point home favorite with a total of 52.5. The Bulldogs were +1200 to win outright (risk $100 to win $1,200).

-- Alabama owns a 9-0 spread record in the first half this year. Most books had the Tide favored by 14 points over Mississippi State for first-half bets on Friday.

-- Alabama is unbeaten in four home games with a 2-2 spread record.

-- Tagovailoa has completed 68.0 percent of his passes for 2,361 yards with a 27/1 TD-INT ratio. He’s rushed for 172 yards and three TDs, averaging 5.9 YPC. Jeudy has 39 receptions for 880 yards and 10 TDs, while Jaylen Waddle has 25 catches for 501 yards and three TDs. Henry Ruggs has 28 catches for 499 yards and eight TDs, and Irv Smith Jr. has caught 25 balls for 448 yards and six TDs. Waddle is also a factor on special teams, averaging 14.6 yards per punt return.

-- Alabama’s leading rusher, Najee Harris, is listed as ‘questionable’ due to an ankle injury. He has run for 572 yards and four TDs with a 6.8 YPC average. Back-up QB Jalen Hurts is also a question mark due to an ankle sprain. Hurts has completed 39-of-53 throws (73.6%) for 589 yards with a 5/2 TD-INT ratio. Hurts has run for 136 yards and one TD with a 4.9 YPC average. Damien Harris has 542 rushing yards, six TDs and a 6.2 YPC average.

-- Mississippi State (6-3 SU, 6-3 ATS) led nearly the entire game against Alabama in Starkville last season, only to see a fourth-quarter lead evaporate in a 31-24 loss as a 14-point home underdog. Hurts found Devonta Smith for a 26-yard scoring strike with 25 ticks remaining to lift his team to victory. Damien Harris ran for 93 yards and one TD on eight carries, while Hurts and Josh Jacobs also had rushing scores. Nick Fitzgerald rushed for 66 yards and one TD on 21 attempts for MSU. He completed 13-of-24 passes for 158 yards without committing a turnover.

-- Joe Moorhead’s club has won three of its past four games both SU and ATS, including last week’s 45-3 win over La. Tech as a 23-point home favorite. After dropping back-to-back games at Kentucky (28-7) and vs. Florida (13-6), MSU responded with a 23-9 victory over Auburn as a three-point home underdog. Then after a 19-3 loss at LSU, the Bulldogs collected consecutive wins vs. Texas A&M (28-13) and La. Tech.

-- Fitzgerald has completed only 50.8 percent of his passes for 1,252 yards with a 10/7 TD-INT ratio. He does his best work with his legs, producing a team-best 839 rushing yards and nine TD with a 5.4 YPC average. Kylin Hill, who is listed as ‘questionable’ at ‘Bama due to an ankle injury, has run for 536 yards and three TDs while averaging 6.6 YPC. WR Osirius Mitchell is also a question mark due to an undisclosed injury. Mitchell has a team-best 20 receptions for 347 yards and three TDs.

-- MSU is 1-2 both SU and ATS on the road this year. The Bulldogs are just 13-19 ATS in 32 games as road underdogs since the start of the 2008 campaign.

-- The ‘under’ is 7-1 overall for MSU, 3-0 in its road contests. The Bulldogs have seen their games average combined scores of 41.4 PPG.

-- The ‘under’ is 8-2-1 in the past 11 head-to-head meetings in this rivalry, but the ‘over ‘has hit in back-to-back encounters.

-- If the number holds at around 52.5 or 53 points, it’ll be Alabama’s second-lowest total of the year (51.5 last week at LSU is the lowest). The Tide has watched the ‘over’ go 6-3 overall, 4-1 in its home outings. Their games have averaged combined scores of 65.4 PPG.

-- CBS will have television coverage at 3:30 p.m. Eastern.

                    **Auburn at Georgia**

-- As of Friday night, most books had Georgia (8-1 SU, 5-4 ATS) listed as a 13.5-point ‘chalk’ with a total of 52.5. The Tigers were +450 on the money line (risk $100 to win $450).

-- Kirby Smart’s team clinched the SEC East with last week's 34-17 win at Kentucky as a 9.5-point road favorite. The 51 combined points elevated ‘over’ the 47.5-point total. De’Andre Swift erupted for 156 rushing yards and two TDs on 16 carries, while Elijah Holyfield ran for 115 yards and one score on 18 attempts.

-- UGA is undefeated in four home games with a 2-2 spread record.

-- Sophomore QB Jake Fromm has completed 67.7 percent of his throws for 1,762 yards with a 17/4 TD-INT ratio. His favorite target is Riley Ridley, who has 30 catches for 411 yards and five TDs.

-- Holyfield has rushed 674 yards and five TDs with a 6.5 YPC average. Swift has produced 622 rushing yards, seven TDs and a 6.3 YPC average.

-- Auburn (6-3 SU, 4-5 ATS) is 1-1 both SU and ATS on the road this year.

-- Trailing 24-14 with 5:14 remaining last week at home, Auburn got a Chandler Cox one-yard TD run to trim the deficit to three. Then with 1:41 left, Jarrett Stidham found Seth Williams for an 11-yard TD pass to cap the comeback win. The Tigers covered for most bettors as the line closed at 3.5 in most betting shops. The 52 combined points jumped ‘over’ the 47-point total. Stidham threw for 239 yards and two TDs without an interception.

-- Stidham has completed 60.6 percent of his passes for 1,953 yards with a 10/4 TD-INT ratio.

-- These schools split a pair of meetings last year with Auburn beating up on UGA by a 40-17 count as a 2.5-point home underdog. The 57 combined points jumped ‘over’ the 48-point total. However, three weeks later at the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta, UGA got even with a 28-7 win as a two-point ‘chalk.’ The 35 combined points dipped ‘under’ the 48-point tally. Fromm completed 16-of-22 passes for 183 yards and two TDs without an interception. Swift rushed for 88 yards and one TD on seven carries.

-- Totals have been an overall wash (4-4-1) for UGA, but the ‘under’ is 4-0-1 in its home games. The Bulldogs have seen their games average combined scores of 54.6 PPG.

-- The ‘under’ is 6-3 overall for the Tigers, 2-0 in their road contests. They’ve watched their games average combined scores of 45.7 PPG.

-- Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. Eastern on ESPN.

                    **B.E.’s Bonus Nuggets**

-- Kentucky will be in bounce-back mode when it travels to Knoxville to face Tennessee. As of Friday night, most books had UK installed as a five-point favorite with a total of 41. This game will kick at Neyland Stadium 3:30 p.m. Eastern on the SEC Network.

-- Texas A&M will play host to Ole Miss at noon Eastern on CBS. The Aggies were 11.5 or 12-point home favorites at most books Friday, while the total was 67.

-- LSU will try to get back on track at Arkansas for a 7:30 p.m. Eastern kick on the SEC Network. Most books had the Tigers favored by 11.5 points with a total of 48.5.

                            BEDLAM FINISH

                            Oklahoma escaped again.

And in what the Sooners call ''Championship November,'' nothing is more important.

Kyler Murray passed for 349 yards and ran for 66 and No. 6 Oklahoma survived a late two-point conversion attempt to beat Oklahoma State 48-47. The Sooners continued their push for a Big 12 title and a spot in the College Football Playoff by winning their 15th consecutive November game dating to 2014.

It was another close call - the victory came a week after Oklahoma edged Texas Tech 51-46. The Sooners will take the shootouts as long as they keep getting the best of them.

Oklahoma nearly saw its chances of reaching its goals vanish. Oklahoma State's Taylor Cornelius connected with Tylan Wallace on a 24-yard touchdown pass to cut Oklahoma's lead to one with 1:03 to play. Oklahoma State went for two, but Cornelius threw short and into coverage, Oklahoma's Tre Brown got his hand on the ball and the pass fell incomplete.

                            NUMBERS

17-Straight home wins by Tennessee over No. 12 Kentucky, dating to 1984.

804-Total yards by No. 14 Utah in a 62-24 win over San Jose State, becoming the 17th team in NCAA history to have at least 800 yards.

15,181-Career total yards by Samford's Devlin Hodges to break the Southern Conference record.

                            TOREROS' RECORD DAY

San Diego broke a slew of records - and needed every bit of it.

Anthony Lawrence threw for 556 yards and a record-tying seven touchdowns, Michael Bandy set a school record with 324 receiving yards, and San Diego rallied to beat Davidson 56-52 as the Wildcats set an FCS single-game rushing record of 789 yards.

Trailing 52-49 with 1:43 to play, Lawrence hit Bandy on a 20-yard pass for the go-ahead score and the Toreros stopped the Wildcats on downs to win their seventh straight conference game and the Pioneer League championship.

The teams combined for 1,477 yards of total offense, trailing the FCS record of 1,549, and four Davidson rushers had 100-plus yard games. Davidson's 789 total rushing yards is a new FCS record, topping Missouri State's 681 in 1988.

Bandy had four touchdown catches, including a 99-yarder, eclipsing Sam Hoekstra's single-game record of 246 receiving yards against Dayton in 2012. Lawrence tied the school record and conference record for most TD passes in a single game.

Sunday’s List of 13: Wrapping up a college football Saturday

                                13) Oklahoma 48, Oklahoma State 47— State scored with 1:07 left but went for two points and the lead, maybe because their kicker missed the PAT on their previous TD.

We’ve talked about this couple times already, but I’m not a fan of going for two points and the win, yet every ex-player on TV applauds when a coach does it. There is a time to be conservative, to keep your team on national TV playing an exciting game (recruiting, anyone?!?!?!)

OSU had 39 first downs, gained 640 yards but lost. Entertaining game.

                                12) Texas 41, Texas Tech 34— Longhorns led 34-17 with 7:00 left, but Tech rallied to tie the game with 1:45 left. Texas then drove the field and threw the GW TD pass with 0:21 left.

                                11) Northwestern 14, Iowa 10— Wildcats are 0-3 in non-conference games, losing to Duke, Akron and Notre Dame, but they’re 6-1 in conference and clinched a spot in the Big 14 title game with this win. Four of their six conference wins are by four or fewer points; this will be their first-ever appearance in the Big 14 championship game.

Iowa threw 41 passes, ran ball only 22 times, converted 3-13 third down plays; they’ve lost three games in a row after a 6-1 start.

                                10) Pitt 52, Virginia Tech 22— Panthers won their third game in a row; they had TD plays of 73-78-97 yards, and averaged 13.9 YARDS PER PLAY in this game. Virginia Tech lost its last three games, allowing 44 ppg, and is now 4-5.

                                9) Old Dominion 34, North Texas 31— Mean Green led 28-0 with 3:00 left before halftime, but let this game get away on the road, slip to 7-3.

                                8) Florida 35, South Carolina 31— Gamecocks led 31-14 with 16:00 to play, but Florida went on TD drives of 75-89-66 yards to pull out the win and improve to 7-3.

Georgia 27, Auburn 10— Auburn coach Gus Malzahn is in the first year of a 7-year, $49M contract; his Tigers are 6-4 and haven’t played Alabama yet, so they’re going to be 7-5 heading into their bowl game, which won’t be a great bowl (their other game is vs Liberty).

Not going to be a great winter on the plains for coach Gus.

                                7) Upsets of the Week:
                                — Wake Forest (+19.5) 27, NC State 23
                                — Old Dominion (+14.5) 34, North Texas 31
                                — Minnesota (+12) 41, Purdue 10
                                — Northwestern (+11) 14, Iowa 10
                                — Bowling Green (+7) 24, Central Michigan 13

                                6) Indiana 34, Maryland 32— Terrapins ran ball for 59 times for 353 yards, outgained Indiana by 168 yards but lost- thats what four turnovers (-3) will do to you.

Ohio State 26, Michigan State 6— Buckeyes’ punter Drue Chrisman pinned Spartans inside their own 6-yard line five times in the second half; he was interviewed on TV after the game. MSU completed less than half its passes for third time in last five games.

                                5) UAB 26, Southern Miss 23 OT— UAB didn’t have a football team in 2015-16, but people fought to bring the team back and now in their second year back, the Blazers are 9-1 and are a hell of a story. Good for them.

                                4) Arizona State 31, UCLA 28— Herm Edwards’ Sun Devils are 6-4, become bowl-eligible.

                                3) Washington State 31, Colorado 7— Coogs ran 94 plays, injury-riddled Colorado ran 54; Buffaloes lost their last five games after a 5-0 start. Wazzu is 9-1 and rolling, in a story that is really interesting, in both happy and tragic ways.

This time last year, Wazzu’s QB was Luke Falk, who is on the Miami Dolphins now. The young man who was penciled in to be his replacement this year (he threw 129 passes off the bench) took his own life after last season, in an unspeakable tragedy.

Gardner Minshew was going to transfer from East Carolina to Alabama, with hopes of being a grad assistant coach in 2019; he knew he would sit the bench in Tuscaloosa this year. But when Washington State needed a QB, Minshew went to Pullman instead and is now having the time of his life. Life is weird sometimes.

                                2) San Diego 56, Davidson 52— This I-AA game had some interesting stats:
                                — Davidson ran the ball 73 times for 789 yards, gained 852 TY.
                                — San Diego was 24-36 passing for 556 yards; they gained 625 TY.
                                — Toreros averaged 15.4 yards per pass attempt.
                                — Davidson had three TD runs of 80+ yards, in the first quarter alone.
                                — Davidson led 31-7 early in the second quarter.
                                — San Diego threw the game-winning 20-yard TD pass with 1:43 left.

                                1) Eastern Michigan 27, Akron 7— EMU has a gray football field, much like Boise State has a blue field; when I watch clips of EMU home games on my laptop, it looks like the game is in black-and-white, except for the players. Weird.

Akron had six first downs, four turnovers, only 90 total yards. Eastern is bowl eligible
