Personally I would want to see Texas do it.

You should have to win your conference to play in the national champ game, so with that said it should be USC.

But Oklahoma got to play USC after losing to K State in the Big 12 5years ago.
    Good Luck to everyone

Texas isnt getting the shaft as badly as some seem to think. They beat OU head to head but they lost to TTU which lost to OU. What im getting at is its not a TWO WAY tie its a THREE WAY tie. Everyone is forgetting about Texas Tech. It goes to the fifth tie braker in the big 12 which is the highest ranked BCS team. So really the head to head goes out the window, it doest matter. Texas ran the gauntlet in october beating OU, Missouri,OSU and losing to Texas Tech. OU also played these teams except Missouri. The basic difference in strength of schedule is OU beat Cincinnati and TCU and Texas beat Missouri. You see why head to head would go out the window in this situation? You would technically have to leave Texas Tech ahead of Texas. Remember the tiebraker is based on Big 12 rules. So it doesnt matter when, by how much or if you lose on the last play of the game. The computer sees a loss as a loss. You hate to see a couple of great teams left out but someone has to go and it is down to the 5th tiebraker. (Actually when OU lost to K-State they played LSU. OU and USC were undefeated.)

Teams played in the top 30...as per Sagarin ratings....

        Ala 3
        Fla 3

        Mzo 4
        Ok 9

Until there is a playoff, we'll annually beat this to death....we do every year....we can only speculate as we always do....we'll never know, and we can talk for a year, about "what IF"........

Does make it interesting though, as to how many different versions/opinions one can get......

NCAA Div I (FBS) FootBall is the only major College/Pro sport without a playoff.....WHY

        SPONSORS $ $ $ $ $....Is my idea of why......

I stated this wrong in my earlier post....

          Record............Vs TOP 10...........TOP 30...SAGARIN
          OK......................2-1.................5-1
          Tx......................1-1.................3-1

          Fla......................0-0................2-1
          ALA.....................0-0................3-0

          Here's a scenario for ya....

Let's say Ok barely beats Mzo, say by a last second FG....Can Texas catch em by not even playing....You betcha....13/100ths of a point separate em....

          Gonna get interesting.....

You're right about us beating it to death with no good answers, Kaptain, until there is a playoff. You're probably also right about the sponsors of the BCS bowls being a major roadblock to devising a playoff system.

what about Texas in the Sagarin ratings and number of teams played in the top 30? Did you see that information?

Disregard the question, Kaptain. I didn't see your follow-up post prior to asking. Thanks.

Its when a team loses. Ok lost relatively early (October 11), allowing them to sit back and gain BCS momentum points. Florida lost fairly early (September 27), allowing them to do the same. If Texas lost to Tx Tech on September 1 instead of November 1, they would be playing Mizzou on Saturday.

Factor in politics and tv ratings power, and there you have the BCS formula for a title game. The powers that be are praying for a Florida-Oklahoma title game.
just like they were praying for a penn st. / usc rose bowl. what ratings would tv get for a penn st./ ore. st. matchup?

Kaptain, you are probably correct. The Final 4 in college basketball began in the late 1930's with the top 8 teams in the country being invited. If you didn't win your conference, you stayed home. Since then:

                    1950's til the mid 1970's: 16 teams
                    1975-1978: 32 teams
                    1979-40 teams
                    1980-1982-48 teams
                    1983: 52 teams
                    1984-present: 64 teams

These numbers may not be exact, but they are close.

My point is that no matter how a national championship is decided, there will always be controversy on how the invitees are chosen

It is by far the best way to determine a championship. There will always be upset alum because their team was left out.

I LOVE MARCH MADNESS, mainly because even the little guys get a shot.
