#1 CHALK PLAYER-Bettor who almost always plays favorites

#2 FIRING-Betting a lot. A player who is "firing" is wagering large sums.

#3 HANDICAPPER-Person who analyzes games and predicts outcomes on sporting events

#4 HANDICAPPER-Somebody who analyzes, studies, and forms an option with regard to betting on a game, horse race, etc.

      #5 SHARP-Astute bettor

#6 SQUARE-Player that is always on favorites and overs. Also known as a gambling fool.

#7 WISEGUY-The "steam" creator; sharp bettor; gambling pro.

      and last but not least....

#8 Contrarian betting is more or less about wagering on the opposite side of wherever the average, square, is putting their money....

I am definitely a #3 /#4........do too much studying to be anything else....

If there are 60 games in a day, that means there are 30 favorites, if I pick three or 7 of those, does that make me a square, or a damn good capper to find 7 winning favorites....

I call it handicapping......then throw in a few totals, 1 or 2 dogs, and you have one good capper......

Read the above's, and let me know where you think you fit in......I've seen quite a few guys here that play strictly dogs, have never seen one, or one come close to picking all favs....

      Where do you fit....what #

for the record.....yesterday had 12 games.......

6 were won by favs, 6 were won by dogs....ATS

to say the Public won the big majority of the heavily betted games is a hard thing to do....cause the figures for what the public bets is tainted....

Is it smart money, % of bets, total $ value on bets....there is no one particular site that can be accurate on this figure......

Casino A, where you're gettin your figures could have 90% on Team A, Casino B, could have 30% on Team A====60 % overall....

Then one casino could have 1 million $ on team A, and the other 100 $....

One would have to compile all boooks, number of wagers, $ wagered, then average em out to have accurate figures, not what they want you to see....

I know one thing, if betting on Carolina was a square player play, that's what I want to be. Who in their right mind would bet money on the Oakland Raiders. Let alone the Rams and Lions.

I know, but I think you out thought yourself on that one. It's one thing to just completely fade the public, which IMO doesn't work, it's another to read lines. That line was right on, I don't by into this Vegas wanted you to bet the Panthers. Shit Vegas wants equal betting on both sides, it limits their risk and insures a profit.

The better question I think is who in their right mind would bet on teams having to cover double digit spreads ON THE ROAD on the any given Sunday NFL regularly...

I didnt just fade the public...there were several reasons why I took the Raiders and those several reasons are why I would take them in that spot 100 times over again...it just didnt work out this time and so be it....next time it might...what can you do thats gambling....

i happen to have a few good friends that are books

3 are locals in chicago ( one is a chilehood friend ive known all my life) one is based out of tenn

i also know someone who talkes daily with the sbortsbook manager of the las vegas hilton ( laugh and mock .. But its true )

everyone of them got hammered yesterday and was crying in their cereal

it dosent matter if 6 favs and 6 dogs covered

the public were on those dogs:

                              * the champs getting 3 points -

                              * kc getting 15 points when they took tampa to ot last week in addition to public knowledge that dogs of 10 1/2 or more were 13-0 prior to yesterday

                              * baltimore at 5-3 and winning their last 3 getting 2 points from a 3-5 team

fav / dog # 's do not matter

where the $$ was is what matters

no big deal - there are 1-2 weeks a year in the nfl where this happens

there are also 1-2 weeks were the opposite happens

unforunately i thought this was that week and it exactly the opposite

It might just be me but I don't think Oakland offers the raiders much of a home field advantage...
