At this point, I would bet the Dodgers, Phillies and probably even the Mets before I bet them to win it all.
Go ahead and bet on those Phillies and Mets both Savage when one of them prolly won't make the playoffs

I didn't see I am going to do it-just expressing an opinion.
If I take any NL team, it will probably be the Dodgers at nice odds, because it looks like they will win their division and thus at least make the playoffs.

PS Having one of the best and most experienced managers in the last 10-15 years in Joe Torre is another reason why I might bet the Dodgers if I bet an NL team to win it.

Yea, Piniella doesn't have much experience either

He may have experience, but what has he ever done/ won as a manager in comparison to what Torre has?
Who today would be considered a better choice to make the Hall of Fame as a manager, Torre or Pinella?

Piniella would have won just as many rings if not more had he coached the Yankees. Hell, you or I could have as many rings.

I don't buy it;anyone can say that-how how many rings did Pinella win with the Mariners?-they had some very good teams.
The Yankees admittedly had some very good teams in the 90's, and no, Torre hasn't won any WS since 2000,;however, I think the fact that he was the manager in those championship years at least says he was able to contribute and blend the team together so that they win some WS.
Don't get me wrong-I consider Pinella a very fine manager;however, at this point,as far as who I would bet to win WS, I would take LA over the Cubs because odds are considerably better on them.
If the odds were roughly equal on the LA and the Cubs, and if I had to choose, then I would bet the Cubs.

In all fairness Pinella did win the WS in 1990 with the Reds;on the other hand in 2001, with the Mariners,a team which won 116 games, the latter did not even make it to the WS.
And yes, Torre was fired because he didn't deliver for 7 years with the Yankees.
All things said however, and especially in view of the odds, I think LA represents good value-thats all I am saying.

Not to split hairs, but Torre wasn't fired.
