Watch the final game in Baltimore tonight. It looks like a home game for Boston and all night you hear "Let's go Red Sox" chants. It is crazy and the Baltimore fans and players hate it. It is unbelievable how much of Red Sox Nation is at EVERY away park.

Yup I seen a bunch of game one on NESN on Monday night...were all Sox fans everywhere....much of the same can be said for Cubs fans...these two teams fans travel and show support in opposition ball parks like no other IMO....Originally posted by wayne1218Watch the final game in Baltimore tonight. You are correct, but still, to see/hear in person the lack of excitement of the Rays fans for their team in THEIR park when they had a rally or made a good play as opposed to the Sox fans who were cheering on the Sox on literally every pitch was quite amusing to me and my wife.Originally posted by Chado1That is not specific to the Rays. Wouldnt be surprised...thats how baseball works for me when I bet it...Originally posted by wayne1218With your luck and just to piss you off again, Buchholz is going to pitch a gem tonight. Thanks in advance!
Last night Burnett strikes out 13 Yanks when I was on the Jays and if it wasnt for Linds solo shot in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game or Damons error with 2 outs to put them ahead 2-1 they almost lost....only my luck would I make a bases bet with a pitcher striking out 13 batters and almost fucking lose...was about to get really fucking pissed...

To show you the difference, when I was a kid in the fifties and attended some Sox games(and for many of those years they really sucked believe me-playing 500 ball for the season was considered a great season); in many cases the stands were half full at best(about 16 or 17 thousand-not like today when Sox are on verge of breaking the consecutive sellout record).Originally posted by Chado1You guys get amused quite easily then...
J/K I hear ya though..
Yet even then when Sox had no chance of winning anything(there were simply two leagues back then-no divisions and playoffs and the winner of Al played Winner of NL in the World Series-that was it), there was still always a lot of excitement for the team, and fans were always into the games and cheered loudly when team did something good(which obviously wsn't too often lol).
When I compare the above with what I saw and heard in Tampa with their fans in April, the contrast is remarkable.Last edited by savage1; 08-20-2008, 07:18 PM.

Ha ha-well, there was still a team which went out there and did their thing 77 times a year at Fenway(there were 154 games a year as opposed to the present 162).Originally posted by wayne1218savage, When you were a kid, Boston was a township, not a City. That's why the stands were 1/2 full!

I still remember the first game I attended in 1952 and still have the program(it caught $.15).
The game was against the crappy Tigers(they were even worse than the Red Sox).
I had nice grandstand seats down the third baseline for about $3.00
Sox won 5-0, Mel Parnell pitched a complete game(look that up in dictionary if you don't know what it means), and Mel (prior to the DH rule) helped his own cause by blasting a triple off the wall-what a thrill for an eight year old kid!
