The guy is a good player...stop hating...I rip on the Phillies all the time, but maybe I shouldn't considering your favorite baseball team was named the WORST franchise in any sport.

With the short left field wall and thousands of fans cheering him on every night unlike Pittsburgh where you can hear a stone drop much of the time, things should only get better.
The guy has proven he is a good hitter;thats enough for me at this point.

Exactly...and how can't his defense be better than Manny's?

He made a diving catch last night that Manny would have laid down on and made a double!

With Manny discontent just about anyone would have been an improvement. It's the old adage. Addition by subtraction.

                                Frank-we finally agree 100% on something.lol
Some of the commentators in Boston are over simplifying the situation by saying if Sox make ther playoffs with Bay the trade should be considered a success, and if they don't it is failure.
The inherent implication is that Sox were a 100% guarantee to make the playoffs with Manny-I don't agree with that;the team had just lost 5 of 6 to Yanks and Angels in Fenway, and the Manny situation and uncertainty was part of the reason.
In my judgment there was no reason to think Sox would all of a sudden turn situation around.
All I know is that so far and even though it was against the shitty A's, Sox won 3 in a row with Bay and without Mr. "I am bigger than the game" Ramirez.
