Originally posted by BennycavI've seen him play almost everyday. It's funny how you guys are all over his nuts already. The guy swings in the same place every time. Pitchers just seem to hit his bat every once in a while. It won't last!!U-C-O-N-N = Uconn! Uconn! Uconn!

Some of the commentators in Boston are over simplifying the situation by saying if Sox make ther playoffs with Bay the trade should be considered a success, and if they don't it is failure.
The inherent implication is that Sox were a 100% guarantee to make the playoffs with Manny-I don't agree with that;the team had just lost 5 of 6 to Yanks and Angels in Fenway, and the Manny situation and uncertainty was part of the reason.
In my judgment there was no reason to think Sox would all of a sudden turn situation around.
All I know is that so far and even though it was against the shitty A's, Sox won 3 in a row with Bay and without Mr. "I am bigger than the game" Ramirez.
