One referee, maybe more, possibly a player or two, but the league as a whole, give me a break
Do I have proof? Well I have eyes and a mind, and I can put two and two together;I have seen enough weird fouls, missed fouls and phantom fouls and/or fouls, etc. not called over the years which goes beyond coincidence.
By your logic, there wasn't sufficient proof that OJ did it because he was found innocent;does that mean he didn't do it?
ps I never said every game in NBA was fixed, but that over the years there have been attempts to influence either the ATS ot totals outcome in the NBA.
If you found one cockroach in your kitchen and killed it, would you assume that the problem was solved, and that there was only one roach to begin with?
ps By my standards Stern is the worst commissioner ever in any sport;I really believe that he has been involved on some of the fixes not for gambling purposes but for tv revenues, etc.

Not only is there alot of shady shit going on with the refs -- the obnoxious free throw advantage home teams had been getting during the playoffs, but I'm also starting to question the trades

Boston gets Garnett for Jefferson and garbage -- EVEN WORSE ( 10 x WORSE ) The Lakers getting Gasol for Kwame Brown and Javaris Crittenton

        SOOOOOOOO.....

Memphis wanted Luol Deng, Nocioni , and Ben Gordan from the bulls for Gasol ..but gave him to the Lakers for those two scrubs ??!!!!

        HMMMMMM...............

The Lakers and Kobe sure got something tho didnt they ?

In turn the NBA got the Celtic -Laker finals they wanted and the ratings they were looking for after a few bad years with "boring ( not my words) San Antonio in the finals

So ad execs were happy - TV networks were happy, and the leauge gets more $$$$$$

Garnett for Jefferson wasn't a bad trade, the Gasol trade was a joke. If you think the NBA is fixed, bet home teams and overs and you'll make money. There's no way to fix a game to go under, and a ref wouldn't fix a road team victory because they would take a lot of heat, home teams that get favorable calls go fairly unnoticed, at least they did.

                  ESPN.com news services

NEW YORK -- Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy made more than 100 phone calls to a fellow official at the same time he was providing information to gamblers during the 2006-07 season, Fox News reported Monday.

Citing court documents and phone records it obtained, Fox reported Donaghy placed 134 calls to referee Scott Foster between October 2006 and April 2007, the period during which he has confessed to betting on games or passing on game information to gamblers.

It's not known what information was exchanged during the calls between Foster and Donaghy, who is awaiting sentencing later this month in federal court.

Reached for comment by Fox, Foster was asked if he was being investigated by the NBA, the government or anyone else.

"Not that I know of," he said.

Foster declined to comment on his relationship with Donaghy and the nature of the calls.

In a statement on Monday, the NBA said that Foster was interviewed.

"The government had complete access to Tim Donaghy's phone records and thoroughly investigated this matter, including conducting an interview of referee Scott Foster," the statement said. "The government has said that they have found no evidence of criminal conduct aside from that of Mr. Donaghy. Once again, the only criminal conduct is that of Mr. Donaghy."

Fox reported on Monday that the NBA is not aware of any further criminal investigation ongoing in the case.

Donaghy, 41, pleaded guilty last year to felony charges of taking cash payoffs from gamblers in the 2006-07 season. He faces up to 33 months in prison at his July 29 sentencing.

According to a story published Monday on Fox News' Web site, the majority of the phone calls lasted no more than two minutes and occurred before and after games Donaghy officiated and on which he admits wagering.

Stern has called Donaghy a "rogue, isolated criminal" acting on his own, without the cooperation of any other referees or league officials.

The only person Donaghy called more often (150 times) was Thomas Martino, to whom Donaghy has said he provided picks to win games and who was the middleman between the former ref and a bookie named James Battista. During this period, the most calls Donaghy made to any other referee were 13, Fox said.

Battista and Martino, who pleaded guilty to defrauding the NBA, are to be sentenced on July 24.

yeah -- wonder what they were talking about

And it looks like Stern is full of shit again

I believe that Stern is quite clever and slick, and that all of the other comparatively unimportant things he focuses on-dress codes, time of suspensions, amount of fines and other issues are not much more than attempts than to divert attention from the real serious issues and possible scandals which surround this league.
Fortunately some of us who have been around a while and who have a modicum of common sense can see through this smokescreen and see the reality of the league, which to put it bluntly, is a mess!

It honestly dosent affect me as a gambler if it is fixed or not

As I have stated its 50 - 50 of you are going to be on the side of the fix

The way I tend to gamble, I probably have won more than I have lost in Donughy and soon to be named other official fixes.

But as a fan and as a human being you want to believe that everything is on the up and up

What bothers me , is that it is plain as day that there is a problem -- its evident !!... and people just dont want to believe it

Same people that still believe that there were WMD 's in Iraq before we invaded

                          NBA action...it's FAAAAANTASTIC!

But I thought David Stern said this was an isolated case with one rogue official ??

Maybe Stern should just confess how he influences games too, like the wink wink, nudge, nudge he surely gave to the refs in the Miami/Dallas championship series a couple years back.

Everybody's doing it, no biggie. Donaghy for a quick personal gain, Stern for the long term gains. Happens all the time, just look at the NFL commissioner who clearly must have had a hand in the Pittsburgh/Seattle Superbowl.

this shit will not stop until the ring-leader (Stern) retires

instead of believing that pro sports are honest, just embrace the fact that they are rigged and try to be on the right side of it when you are gambling
